On the album, I never really thought too much of this song and then, I saw her do it live. Just Tori and the Bosendorfer. I really can't begin to describe just how exquisite it was... yes... tears were welling in my eyes and I couldn't figure out what to savour the most, the sound or the sight of seeing Tori live.... Hhhhhhh

Tori Amos writes such an elaborated melodies! Every time it struck me, they are so difficult to repeat, and especially to sing... This one in particular is not that much, but most of her melodies are like that. And I consider myself musically educated and somewhat talented... Wow! She's a truly unique musician! I don't care much about lyrics, never listen to it, but her voice together with the music is simply divine!

@SmartySexyPants the melodies and rhythm are very hypnotic elements for song; however, you're wrong about the lyrics... the lyrics just like the music correlate to feelings. listen to this track again, feel the lyrics within you, and then see if you're love for this masterpiece is that much more.

A beautiful tribute to such a tragic time in history. I still cry for those that were hurt and lost people that day. I have family there so this still upsets me.

I think this song is about the events of 9/11 from the perspective of a victim trying to escape the burning buildings. 'as i'm circling down through white cloud, falling out, i can't find my way out'.

'can't see new york from the other side'.

Makes me cry every time.

this song reminds me of a trip ,going it one day with the bus to another city ,where my loved one staid ,and just listening in the heaty day ,thinking if he will be glad to see me ...he did not came ,and ive remained only with the song engraved on my heart
