I think it's funny how you say follow the directions for break in.....And they say NOT to idle break in a 3.3.......you didn't follow them at all......body ON after the first tank....NOT suppose to idle it...DRIVE it........YOU shouldn't be telling people how to break in there new 3.3 when YOU don't even do it the right way.........
That is just wrong.... for 2 reasons... #1 I have been using top fuel for years and it is a great fuel. #2 There is a technical problem with what you said too.... More oil, means better lubrication. So too much oil would just cause the engine to run rough or stall. Too little oil is what causes overheating and engine damage. So wherever you heard that it's just not correct.
@jetlag2222 One of the guys that work at HobbyTown told me. I just got my first Nitro car (Jato 3.3) so I don't know much about it yet. But thanks for the info.
the only thing i personally would have done different in the break-in is I would have done it on a paved road so that the engine has the least stess it can to stay super cool. great vid
Im thinking bout getting the revo 3.3.. but its most like the summit and the summit cant drift, and im wondering can the revo 3.3 drift, becuase it has basacally all the same features as the summit?
Yes it's a great 1st nitro model. Very easy to break-in and tune. Just watch the included video and follow all the instructions as closely as you can during break-in, and you will have a world class nitro monster truck!
@jetlag2222 hey,i seen most of ure videos and i specifically made a youtube account to ask you a question,i have a the same revo like urs i had it for christmas. followed all the pricautions etc, and around the 7th tank it stalled,so i plugged in the ez-start and nothing happend so i stripped it down and the connecting rod snapped at the top. and smashed against the piston so i baught all new parts and i broke it in and the same thing happend around the 7th tank thanks (its not running lean)
It uses all waterproof servos and the radio box is weather sealed, but of course no nitro is ever truly waterproof because it needs air in the carb to keep it running. And water in the carb doesn't work very well. lol.
sorry just saw this... the very first song was by Pantera. It's called "good friends and a bottle of pills". And trust me, you will NEVER hear it on the radio because the lyrics couldn't possibly be cleaned up. Very very explicit. lol.
i'm not a beginner at RC driving and i have 6 years experience with strong 1:10 scale brushless cars. so i think i can handle the power of the REVO sovereign.
but i have no experience with nitro engines and how to set them. is it quite easy if i read the instructions carefully?
Have any problems with screws trying to backout? Because im looking at buying this.. but my tmaxx 3.3 (4908) was not so great of a truck.. let me know
Well it's a great truck and it's as easy to tune the nitro engine as any nitro truck out there. So in that sense it's a good beginner truck. However, this truck closely resembles the REVO national champion race truck, so it is extremely powerful, fast, and can get you into trouble in a hurry if you aren't careful. So you would want to be very careful and not overdrive your abilities until you are comfortable with the power and handling.
i was wondering if u coud make a video about tuning this car and setup. because im only 12 and this will be my very first nitro truck.and what all the glow plugs in stuff i would like if u explained all that stuff to me.thanks
They are not hard to tune, especially nowadays. But it does take some experience. Also sand is an abrasive and is especially hard on any kind of engine. Make sure that no sand EVER gets in the carb or the cylinder wall will get scored and will ruin your engine compression.
In uk seein how we can't get traxxas topfuel I suppose byrons race gen 2 fuel or odonnell both at 20% would be best for the revo 3.3 and other traxxas trucks too..
Yes I have had this question before from my buddies in the UK and it's tough to answer because you don't have easy access to Traxxas fuel there. Here is what I would do if I lived in the UK. I would call Traxxas support and explain to them your problem. I would also tell them what fuels you have available there and ask which will work best. They are very helpful and I'm sure they will help you pick the best one.
is it leaking out of the exhaust pipe? Or dripping out of the fuel line connections and fuel tank? Do an inspection and find out where it is leaking. You may need to replace some fuel lines if one of them got a hole or loose on it's connection. Just so you know, my REVO doesn't leak fuel at all - even if you turn it upside down...
That's probably what Traxxas will tell you... I've never asked them. Of course they want you to use their fuel because they made it specifically for their engines so it's probably going to work best. But that doesn't mean other top name brand fuels won't work. They will probably work just fine, but it's at your own risk to try them.
Here is my #1 recommendation for you.... READ THE MANUAL AND FOLLOW IT EXACTLY!!!! Sometimes it comes with a DVD too. WATCH IT. I can't stress enough how important it is to break in a new engine correctly. Traxxas includes EXACT instructions that really do work. If you do it right, your engine will last for years. If you do it wrong or get in too much of a hurry, it won't last 1 year.
Don't rush the break-in... Don't try to get done as quick as possible.... take your time and do it right. You will be much happier if you do. Trust me.
thanks dude i was going to make shur to brek it in exactly to the manual i have the nitro vee and my dad flys nitro planes and helis so wen we got the nitro vee he broke it in cuz i was only 5 but i know lots about nitro engens how to tune them and stuff especaly concidering this is the nitro vee that thing never stays tuned lol but i never broke one in myself thanks for the help :)
thats funny because my picco p3 .28 took almost 1 full gallon to get fully broken in, alot of high end italian engine come with ALOT of pinch. but i dont see how this truck is better than the savage xl they both have their pros and cons.
Better is a very relative term. If you want to talk professional racing level, then the REVO 3.3 has won the national title the last 5 years in a row. But if you want to talk about what is better just for you, then that becomes a much more personal decision and really comes down to what you like. I am not dissing the savage. It's a great truck too. And very capable. They are both great trucks as you pointed out.
yea i understand and totally agree man i just hate the whole fanboy thing you know?, i like both trucks and just recently purchased a like new revo 3.3 for a hundred bucks and im still debating on whether i should keep it or sell it and make some money off of it. what do you think i should do? the truck is going to be for my little brother that is just getting into rc
@nywa08 i bought mine at a local hobby shop it was the last one left:) im repairing it now i stripped a gear in the tranny still havnent got around to rippin it apart
You are extremely lucky. It may be that your initail driving was close enough to the break in process that it worked. Don't expect it to work next time... I know many guys that ruined their engines driving without breaking the engine in first.
@nywa08 i love mine its fast nd has enough torque to flip over on its back on a take off:) nd tuning is not hard at all it shows u how in the book. If i were you i would deff buy it you will be happy you did
im thinking about getting either this or the E-Maxx Brushless. i had an S-Maxx a few years ago but i didnt know how to tune it. now that im older, i understand how to tune it but im still nervous it might not work right. i only had my S-Maxx for 2 weeks before i returned it. & i know electrics can be more money now
good vid for noobs, i know i was lost when i first got my original tmaxx, couple q's for ya, for the fourth and fifth tanks, you werent giving it to much gas, or (for the fifth) letting it shift into second gear, or was that just not on the vid? if not does this seem to work better for you? also for newer ppl, you want the motor to get a little hot (240ish) during the break in too right?, thnx for the vid, like how Remember by Disturbed was on and an ad for GnR came up :-) nice vid!
One sexy truck is the new revo 3.3 (5309)..id like one of these but due to money which one should i get a havoc or menace or bit more money a jato 3.3 or keep saving and get the revo 3.3?..help please and why i should get the one u think i should get....thanks
The manual is 5309 but it has got some other wheels which is crazy choise because it's 14mm hex! I do not know what the present owner thought when he put that on ...
Yes it is best to brake in on a hard, easy rolling surface. The few seconds of shots in this vid were for the cam. I did most of the break-in on cement.
Yea I've gotten crappy coments on the slayers/slashes. Ill tell ya what though, the revos take a beating. I had the original 2.5R edition and i beat the balls off of it, sometimes you do have to buy parts
hey jetlag do you mind makeing another vid on the new revo 3.3 5309. cause im bored watching the same vids every day. and i also want to learn more about the revo 5309.i know about rc cars i just want to know more about it. i have a erevo 1/16 vxl and its cool. can u make a revo 5309 vid
Well, probably not... the stampede is a great truck, but I'm not really into 2wd trucks... That's why I never got a slash until they came out with the 4x4 slash. But the stampede is a cool truck and tons of guys I talk to love it.
Sorry, there is no way I can tell from that description. If it's still under warranty, I would highly suggest you give Traxxas support a call. It's free and they will step you thru several tests to figure out what's wrong.
Jim, thanks anyway. Because I live in Portugal, for me it`s not so easy to get this support, but I have solved the problem already. It was simple a the truck is brand new. Best regards and wait for my videos...
god i love youre videos. because of this video i now want to get a new tmaxx the only reason i got the emaxx instead is cuz i didnt want a nitro but now i want a tmaxx so thanks for taken $360 right out of my pocket
I am getting a nitro car in 1 month, I can't decide b/t the T-maxx 3.3 and the Revo 3.3, what are the differences, and the prices. Also did you just do the idle break in?(PLEASE RESPOND)
If you do the idle only break-in you might as well throw the new truck in the trash can. You will ruin a perfectly good engine. If you get one, READ the instructions and follow them as closely as you can.... a word to the wise...
yea, I wasn't planning on doing the idle break in,lmao, I was just wondering if you did, b/c all I saw was idle except for the end. I'm going to do the Traxxas break in, anyways, what about my question on the T-Maxx and Revo 3.3 Thank you :)
What's so difficult about real engines? Same question. :) Some people can work on them, some people can't. But either way it takes a lot of experience and practice. You can't just walk into the store, buy a nitro car, and expect to know everything about tuning and running a nitro engine.

You are extremely lucky. It may be that your initail driving was close enough to the break in process that it worked. Don't expect it to work next time... I know many guys that ruined their engines driving without breaking the engine in first.

@eg8sohc where do you get your nitro from? every place i see is expensive then they charge at least another $10 for shipping
nywa08 1 year ago
im thinking about getting either this or the E-Maxx Brushless. i had an S-Maxx a few years ago but i didnt know how to tune it. now that im older, i understand how to tune it but im still nervous it might not work right. i only had my S-Maxx for 2 weeks before i returned it. & i know electrics can be more money now
nywa08 2 years ago
got the same truck cant wait to break it in tommorow nice video:)
eg8sohc 2 years ago
sweet! It's a great truck. Just follow all the instructions and break it in right, and it will last for years.

@eg8sohc, how do you like it so far? im thinking about getting one (read my comment above)
nywa08 2 years ago
is the traxxas revo 3.3 har to tune? compared to other nitro motors.
TheAlexanderholst 2 years ago
IT's as easy to tune as any other nitro. Better than many.
jetlag2222 2 years ago
i wish i had just ANY nitro model, I'm too poor =(
but if i get one, it would definitely be one of the traxxas revo models FOR SURE!!!!!!!

good vid for noobs, i know i was lost when i first got my original tmaxx, couple q's for ya, for the fourth and fifth tanks, you werent giving it to much gas, or (for the fifth) letting it shift into second gear, or was that just not on the vid? if not does this seem to work better for you? also for newer ppl, you want the motor to get a little hot (240ish) during the break in too right?, thnx for the vid, like how Remember by Disturbed was on and an ad for GnR came up :-) nice vid!

I dont know why guys always complain about breaking nitro car/truck models in. Its enjoyable to me haha
ceejay1024 2 years ago
I love your videos!
And your choises of songs!
Love Pantera!
I just got home a Revo 5308 I THINK!
The manual is 5309 but it has got some other wheels which is crazy choise because it's 14mm hex! I do not know what the present owner thought when he put that on ...
PinBot1986 2 years ago
Hey jet I thought breaking in the engine in grass isnt reccomended, isnt it reccomended to do it on a flat smooth surface?
ceejay1024 2 years ago
Yes it is best to brake in on a hard, easy rolling surface. The few seconds of shots in this vid were for the cam. I did most of the break-in on cement.
jetlag2222 2 years ago
does this break alot bcuz i gotta slayer and it breaks way to much
Chanceisthebomb 2 years ago
Yea I've gotten crappy coments on the slayers/slashes. Ill tell ya what though, the revos take a beating. I had the original 2.5R edition and i beat the balls off of it, sometimes you do have to buy parts
ceejay1024 2 years ago
wut 2.4 do u hav in mini?

hey jetlag do you think you'll ever get a stampede?
rcbmxer22 2 years ago
Well, probably not... the stampede is a great truck, but I'm not really into 2wd trucks... That's why I never got a slash until they came out with the 4x4 slash. But the stampede is a cool truck and tons of guys I talk to love it.
jetlag2222 2 years ago
@rcbmxer22 i wouldnt recomend the stampede cause its the worst handleing truck ever made. if you want something cheap and good get a slash

where did u get the hat?
traxxasmaniac123 2 years ago
My wife ordered for me online. I don't know where she got it. lol.
jetlag2222 2 years ago
Hey Jim. I have a problem with my Revo 5309. When I try to use the reverse he runs very slowly. Is a problem of tunning?
nunomftomas 2 years ago
Sorry, there is no way I can tell from that description. If it's still under warranty, I would highly suggest you give Traxxas support a call. It's free and they will step you thru several tests to figure out what's wrong.
jetlag2222 2 years ago
Jim, thanks anyway. Because I live in Portugal, for me it`s not so easy to get this support, but I have solved the problem already. It was simple a the truck is brand new. Best regards and wait for my videos...

i hav 2 get 1! (the hat and trucklol)

RM250D8rzr 2 years ago
god i love youre videos. because of this video i now want to get a new tmaxx the only reason i got the emaxx instead is cuz i didnt want a nitro but now i want a tmaxx so thanks for taken $360 right out of my pocket
sonicboomracing 2 years ago
rofl! sorry to cost you another $360. But you will love it. :))
jetlag2222 2 years ago
is tmaxx 2.5 good starter? in nitro imean have 1 brushless truck on lipo so the speed is no prob.
traxxasmaniac123 2 years ago
I am getting a nitro car in 1 month, I can't decide b/t the T-maxx 3.3 and the Revo 3.3, what are the differences, and the prices. Also did you just do the idle break in?(PLEASE RESPOND)
geedunk13 2 years ago
If you do the idle only break-in you might as well throw the new truck in the trash can. You will ruin a perfectly good engine. If you get one, READ the instructions and follow them as closely as you can.... a word to the wise...
jetlag2222 2 years ago
yea, I wasn't planning on doing the idle break in,lmao, I was just wondering if you did, b/c all I saw was idle except for the end. I'm going to do the Traxxas break in, anyways, what about my question on the T-Maxx and Revo 3.3 Thank you :)
geedunk13 2 years ago
u seem as happy as a kid in a free hoby shop!
traxxasmaniac123 2 years ago
i have two nitro stampedes and they usually dont start up to well but lately they have been great. great vid!!
y0rkie1011 2 years ago
what are so difficult about nitros?
cod4mw2123 2 years ago
What's so difficult about real engines? Same question. :) Some people can work on them, some people can't. But either way it takes a lot of experience and practice. You can't just walk into the store, buy a nitro car, and expect to know everything about tuning and running a nitro engine.
jetlag2222 2 years ago
thaks, it would be awesome if you did a video on the jato.
cod4mw2123 2 years ago
would you recomend this to someone that has never had/driven a nitro truck
