el referee manda rapidamente a duran a la esquina duran parece que queria continuar observen desde la esquina le dicen a duran que siga pero el referee manda rapidamente a duran a la esquina,,,que cosas no?
This is simply revisionism at it's worst.Doesn't matter whether you like leonard or not,and it doesn't matter how you dress it up,attempting to criticize Leonard for being an opportunist in regards to fighting Hagler when he did is ridiculous, and it's blatantly refusal to acknowledge the fact that Leonard was even further removed rom his prime than Hagler.
Leonards camp used great strategy in getting the rematch scheduled as soon as posssible. They knew Duran had a consistant tendency to go off his diet and balloon up in weight after a fight. Duran wasn't properly conditioned for this rematch. He was still in partying mode. Maybe I'm a bit apologetic for Duran, but remember, He had already won the lightweight title 8 years before this fight.
@martinbill123321 And thats why Leonard will never be in my ATG book. This, and waiting out Hagler. He saw Hagler-Mugabi,he saw Hagler wasn`t as fast as he used to be and he cried and bitched till he got heavier gloves.Tactics should be kept IN the ping. Not speculating WHEN a oponent will be "easy pickings".Duran-SRL 1 was all Duran,Hagler-SRL was a robbery of a not even PEAK Hagler with heavier gloves.A title should be TAKEN.SRL didn`t TAKE the title,it was a xmas present from the judges.....
Oh sure, what sneaky underhanded tactics in coming out of a lengthy period of inactivity, moving up two weight classes and taking on a man universally regarded as the very best in the sport.....and BEATING him.LMAO.
@tapiaassasin I`ve never said i don`t respect SRL for his awesome athletic and boxing SKILLS.It`s just my opinion that the Hagler fight WAS a underhanded, sneaky tactic."retiring" just to come out of retirement at a very convenient time. And the no mas, there was no taunting in no1.So therefor i`ll never have the same respect for him as i have for all the REAL ATG`s that fought all comers WHEN they came.I guess we can agree 2 disagree?
Yes,because five months is really as "soon as possible".Geez, how long do you think they should have waited for Duran? A year? LOL.If Duran had a tendency to "go off his diet and balloon up in weight after a fight",why was it only an issue after Leonard beat him? Or did he only develop such an undisciplined lifestyle prior to quitting against Leonard.
And yes,you are being apologetic for Duran - no different to most of Durans fanbase though.
@Naffini well thank you kind sir for partially debunking my theory that everything Don King says is zany and moronic. Just looked up "gesticulation" and how dumbstruck at DK's astute word usage! Guess there's a first time for everything. you should advocate for that to be a need to know GRE term hah
I don't think Larry Holmes understood it.
