geez , i just loved the old version of headline news . i loved it soo- much when i was a kid back 1986 i video with vhs tape. at midnight on kktv 11 in csprings in 1986-there now , i cant find those tapes here.oh well, i cant stand joy , nancy ,showbiz and clark h. oh the good olld days are ...gone ..check out my songs on teddbear52
Headline News and CNN current programming is a joke!! Especially HLN in the evening. Even when CNN provides hard news it's always mixed in with so-called "analysts" debating a topic or an anchor (i.e. Anderson Cooper) attempting to showcase themselves. Ted Turner......please get involved again and bring back the original Cable News Network.
Ahh, very nostalgic! I most definitely remember when HLN was well organized with straight forward news and facts. Today, much of the time, it's just folks spouting opinions about controversial issues. I very much remember the Dollars and Sense, the Sports, and the Clocks. Thanks for bringing back such memories. Seriously, HLN really needs to go back to its original format as shown in these clips.
I use to watch headline news a lot as a kid, and remember the "Dollars and Sense" part well. I also remember the parts with the clocks. Does anyone remember the female HN anchor whose last name was like Christie or Christina?
Is it just me or does that over-the-shoulder graphic of Ronald Reagan (during the Bob Losure segment) look like his head is attached to someone else's body? I don't recall the Gipper's shoulder's being that broad!
He's acutally set up his own business doing motivitional speaking and basically shilling for anybody who will pay him a buck, capitalizing on his former HN job. Just throw his name in Google and see what I mean.
I think Chuck Roberts is the only still around from the days when it really was "Headline News" not "headline news sometimes and controversial and sensational talk other times" Last I've seen on the web, Lynn Russell is selling real estate in Canada. She was nice to look at, I must say.
Nice to see a clip of Larry King in his "pre-suspenders" era. I didn't realize the Lite Brite backdrop dated to 1986, though... I recall that early on, there was usually a skyline (L.A.?) behind him.
and, very briefly King had another syndicated T.V. In that one, he actually wore ties and jackets as I recall. I vaguely remember the set background being the "sound walls" you see at most good production studios or radio stations.
wow.. back when Headline News, was, well, Headline News.. you give us 23 minutes, we'll give you the world and all that.. compared to what it has morphed into now as just another channel with lots of opinionated talk... I guess the internet had a major impact on where and how people get instant news..
ahh, back when HLN actually showed news, not like today with nancy grace bullshit

Love the intro

The old HN jingle appears to resemble the bad Viacom "V of Doom" jingle.

Wow, actual hard news served up calmly without overbearing anchors or overbearing animations. How silly they were to try that.

If I was Ted Turner...I'd step in and rework Headline News back to it's original format to what Ted invisioned back in 1982.
