4:36 -> The triangle: symbol of power, in which number three, the sacred number par excellence, dominate. The two triangles of different colours represent two opposites: goodness and evil, sex and castity, ecc. They first exchange their colours, then they divide into smaller triangles that begin to rotate one over the other, as to signify that opposites must try to find a perfect balance to make the soul complete.
Do yo have any of those in better quality still on disk? If you do, I think you should upload it again with better quality, cause youtube did awful job converting this back in 2008
I think it's a problem with the Center For Visual Music who keep the videos of Belson and doesn't want to show them on internet. You can read an article about the Vortex Concerts in the exhibition catalogue Cosmos: en busca de los origines, de kupka a Kubrick. The article was written by Cindy Keefer who works for the Center For Visual Music.
Good, but not as cosmic or godlike as Jordan Belson, who was the MASTER video artist of the millenium!
WHY can't we see Belson's videos on the internet?? WHy all the secrecy or protection? It's like it was only available to analog film audiences a generation ago, now basically hidden away...
@WmJoseSinclair Belson's films may be "hidden" by his own request - many film artists do not like the reduction in quality of their work when put online, and the change in format (film to digital compressed video). I am not saying I support that point of view, but know that many film makers do.
@earinsound Oh, thank you so much for the info, but usually I don't like to buy a DVD before having seen anything by that artist... I'd need a taste before x)
take my word for it--his film are amazing. better than james whitney (and i like whitney's films!)... they can't be uploaded to YouTube so i don't know where you will see them. good luck!
I tried uploading Belson videos and they are immediately (I mean immediately) rejected for copyright violations. There must be something in the file, a bit of a Belsonian hex possibly, that prevents it from being shared publically. I have a feeling Belson has been working on new films in a hermetically concealed environment that will see the light of day after he decides to walk into one of his films and never return.
No matter how hard people try nowadays to make forward leaps in technologically enhanced audio-visual art, so many creators miss something. This film has that something: aesthetic value and pleasing qualities. Call me old-fashioned but I get so agitated by art that is 100% experimental with no regard for the human hearts that are witnessing it.
@RhythmDroid Don't worry, I always think these art pieces will never get old. Personally, I generally like experimental stuff in paintings, films or musical compositions.
This guy, with his brother James, and Jordan Belson and Harry Smith are the pioneers of the Cosmic Cinema. Belson did the amazing Vortex Concerts. Someone knows where we can see videos of Belson?
These guys are the fathers of the modern psychedic trance experience... Terry Riley, John Whitney, and Albert Hoffman... I wish they could experience the evolution of what they started. They would love it!
