I am gonna try treat trick, its a good idea. I ususally do the trimming in two separate sessions when my kitty is sleepy, but will add treat trick to teach it is not that a bad thing, great idea!
The "cat jelly roll" technique worked so well on all 3 of my cats that I don't even need to use it any more. Technique involves rolling the cat up inside a towel and pulling out one foot at a time to clip. All 3 now relax 'cause they know I'm not going to hurt them.
@Megara the point of this is to trim the nails so that it won't have a hook at the end, i think. i dont think there really is a way to make their nails blunt.
that cat is so cute n also my cat is nice but when i tryed to baith her from the first day i got her i think she tryed to escape just coz she didnt know me n she thought i was torturing her but now every time she sees me she just keeps meowing until i sit down so she can sit in my lap she is so cute i got her before like 4 days so i dont have a name yet if u got anything on ur minds plz im open for suggestions thx:D
Maybe if your cat is a 500 pound tiger, but for a house cat it doesn't need LONG and SHARP nails, also in some breeds the nails can actually grow so long they curl back into their paw causing infection.
i once had that witn my previous cat. Because she was old and an indoor cat her nail once grew into her paw. painful and the vet had to get it out.. now we use 2 people to clip our 9 months old cat, 1 holds him and comforts him while i clip the nails and he gets a treat when hes done. No hard feelings afterwards and he doesnt get stuck on every fabric after a trim...
hehe... I wish my cat can be that kind... she's so mean and angry most of the times...!! dunno why.. i tried my best to punish her in a proper way to stop fighting me, but she just doesn't care!!
can u use finger nail cutters for it

Should have added what kind of trimmers are good to use. Don't use a human nail clipper. The cat nails will splinter when using inappropriate tools.

i don't trip my cats nails. i have 2 outdoor cats and they climb trees while there outside, so i don't think it's a very good idea.

@ridetolive1000 can you teach me exactly how you do it? one of my cats is realy aggressive when it comes to cutting his nails!!
kohjack06 1 year ago
@kohjack06 simply roll your cat up in a towel so that only his head and tail are sticking out-pull out one paw at a time and clip the nails

My problem is, once you cut the tip, the nail is still jagged and sharp. Any suggestion on how I can fix this would be great! Feel free to write me!

you should never trim your cats nails, cats need them for protection, this silly lady hasn't a clue

Maybe the way your "punishing" your cat is why it's aggressive in the first place?
