gendronp you know when this came out in the 80's I took this song to heart and gave me exactly what I wanted to be. I was going to go into the military and then I heard this song and I realized all I wanted is to be a wife and mother. I have not ever had any regrets about it..I love my kids and now they are starting their own lives now. I think sometimes when we are young we need something like this to bring reality to us...

He made up the name Charlene for it, and made a ton of money pushing it on the public in radio. The woman in the video is his sister-in-law Bitsy Goldshitz from Yonkers N.Y. She lipsync'd it for the video, but no one who knew gave a damm in the early years of MTV. This is why no one has seen, nor heard of Charlene since!

I'm thinking it was a demo that may have been made during the early to mid seventies that was shelved and forgotten until 81 or 82.
