Apparently Oswald had a good chance to survive being shot, but the emergency aid he was given en route to the hospital- stuff like massaging the chest to keep the heart going- actually caused him to bleed to death from all his internal injuries. Nowadays an i.v. and a blood coagulant would be used & he'd have survived. But instead he lost too much blood & went into shock.
