I'm sure someone here knows... can anyone tell me what kind of guitar that is? I see the weird second string and the bass strings or something like it. Is this a specific type of guitar or is it some pat metheny creation or design or something?
@jazzguitar27First it's a baritone guitar - in dropped A if I recall rightly. And then, it's set-up in what you could call an alternate "nashville tuning", that is, the third and fourth strings - so G and D - are strung with high strings at an octave higher. It's real nice. I have one of my guitar, a standard one, strung like this in dropped C. I have a video here if you want to check what that sounds like - it's wonderful, I'm hooked.
Beautiful! - Metheny is the best there is. A privilege to see and hear him in person!

What a compliment to Norah Jones to have her own tune interpreted by the great Pat Metheny.
frankstelt 10 months ago
@frankstelt actually a compliment to jesse harris, the writer of the song. Norah Jones' version is a cover, not the original.

@ggroove89 Anche io sono un grande fan di pinuccio, da buon napoletano, ma c'è da dire che forse è Pino che ha uno stile molto simile a Pat!

FYI: Jesse Harris won a Grammy for writing this song, after Norah Jones made it popular. Great rendition by Pat, for sure.
