Many in government just go to another office— Assembly or Senate —when their terms expire. We need a limit on how long a person can serve in elected office generally, not specific offices. Term limits solve the problem of corrupt incumbents--it doesn't guarantee sending better candidates in the first place. Term limits is just a place to start.

I was at an Ice Cream shop in Washington in the 1970's when Henry Waxman came in with a very young woman who appeared to be his date. The California Propositions 140 has altered, but not revolutionized the type of legislator who comes to Sacramento. The bill did not go far enough. Many in government just go to another office— Assembly or Senate —when their terms expire. We need a limit on how long a person can serve in elected office generally, not specific offices. Term limits solve the problem of corrupt incumbents--it doesn't guarantee sending better candidates in the first place. Term limits is just a place to start.
