Think I saw the blonde guy compete in the banjo contest at rockygrass this year, didn't know what song he played though, didn't sound like a fiddle tune
@HillbillyJ I don't think so. In fact, the wider string spacing makes single string licks a lot easier, especially when, for example, you are playing with 2 or all 3 fingers on the same inside string (eg; LOW D - 0--2--4). I didn't really notice how much the wider spacing helped until I tried going back to a standard banjo
I´m planning to buy a banjo, i actually play guitar so how lame would it be to buy a 6 string "guitarbanjo"? I´m not planning to do this good, just thought about buying a cheap one to jam. So are the guitarbanjos totally useless? And seriously, you guys seem like professionals, keep it up!!
Picking banjo is totally different than picking a guitar. Very different style. In my opinion, banjo-guitar's are pointless. If you want a banjo, I would suggest getting a 5 string, and a decent one. Once you get hooked, you won't look back. I started with guitar, and got a banjo 10 yrs. ago. Now I'm glad I got a good one to start with, rather than a cheap one.
Wow! I have been learning this song and really liked the single string way you play it in the first position. I will wear this out trying to learn it by ear and watching your fingers. Do you have any sights with tab of 'Whiskey?' Thanks in advance.
No. Just like other 5 strings, you still need to have spikes or some other way to pull down the 5th. string if you wish to capo. The stealth however does get rid of the nut on the neck and the string spacing is wider than standard. I believe Nechville offers a neck like this on certain models too.
Yea I actually looked at the dudes site who makes them shortly after I commented here. Someone should try building one where the fifth string goes all the way up the neck to the head without being tunnelled. That might allow you to use a regular capo, or maybe not.
brilliant concept for a banjo. I don't like the thin peghead, but the idea of putting all 5 machineheads on the peghead instead of the fifth at the fifth fret is a very good idea. great playing guys
Super picking !!! Isuppose those banjos are made by Stealth, the kind of banjos Scott Vestal uses. They sound really good. And boys you know how to make them sound terrific.

Amazing sound! Stupid question, does having the wider string spacing slow you down? Likewise, does the wider neck make fretting With the thumb harder?
I am really interseted in these banjos and I;m just curious. Thanks for any answers. You guys rock!

Nice double banjo, boys. You were able to stay out of each other's way and still play the harmony.
I liked the sound of those banjos better than the Gibsons.

One of my major problems with banjo's is the fifth string...does this banjo eliminate the need for a seperate capo for the fifth string?
