  • it would be really nice if he could post a video on how to do behind the back weaves forwards

  • there is one just search for it :)

  • by nick??

  • no not by him:)

  • Yeah, there is one nick's tutorial on how to do BTB weaves.

  • He did that. Check the playpoi's tutorials.

  • this guyy is such a champ......i love this guy....hes jokes but a sick fuking teacher

  • this was surprisingly easy for me. the only hard part was the forward weave part. i learned the same exact thing except with 2 beats first. that helped a lot.

  • flexiblity, stamina, he's 'all wrapped up' in this lesson. the main energy comes from his waist, as you can see when he sways back and forth in his behind the back weave tutorial. I suppose if I bought the DVD I could get this in no time, but this is totally pixely and why not the diff coulored sock-poi? it'll take me a bit longer for this one, I can tell

  • it probably takes alot of people longer to get this anyway since it is harder to do weaves and what not in the back than the front. just keep it up! :D

  • just one thing , If there's any advice doing "butterfly waistwraps" I'd be happy to hear it, since i can do the "weave waistwraps" (alternate turning) but not the butterfly. The hole problem is getting into it, I can do it if I start with my hands in the correct position right form the start, but I dunno how to transition into it... :S, please, if anyone has any extra piece of advice, I'll be waiting for it, thanks!

  • it took me a year and a haf to get this

but i was the happiest kid in the fuckin world when i did

i think its the most beautiful moves you can do

  • I bet you're left handed, are you left handed nick??

  • i would say he is right handed, because when the camera is in the bird view position you can see his left planes are more parallel to his body than his right planes, so i would say he is able to put his right hand in a better position than the left hand. Does that make sense to you? it is an interesting topic tho, with most spinners you can tell very quick if they are right or left handed (if they are not as skilled as Nick that is.)

  • u can extend the uncross/recross part so u get the "giant waistwrap".

the thing we all call the waistwrap is formely known as the "behind the back waistwrap" and defined like this (p.124): btb hipmill + btb uncross/recross + btb hipmill + btb carry

finally u can combine waistwrap and btb waistwrap into "full waistwrap" (p.126): hipmill + uncross/recross + hipmill + carry + btb hipmill + btb uncross/recross + btb hipmill + btb carry.

  • many people use the word "waistwrap" for the position "arm around the back".

I think the best explanation comes from michal kahn in his book "poi spinning".

first of all there is a "hipmill" defined, a 2-beat windmill played an the hip (p.95)

then the "waistwrap" is defined as (p.96): hipmill + uncross/recross + hipmill + carry

  • Thank u nick! :)

  • I want to know who named this move. Granted I understand why it is waist, but how is it wrap? a wrap is that trick the glow stringers (who I have a lot of respect for) like where the poi wraps around some appendage of the body. When the weave is done from side to side in front of the body is that also waist wrap?

  • I agree with you.

I suppose one arm is wrapping around you?

But yeah I was expecting wrap as in the poi cord wrapping and unwrapping around a body part.

  • I agree, with a wrap i would say the poi would wrap around your body, just like an airwrap. But whatever we would call it, it looks cool and that is all that matters!
