I imagine the US highways that the video heavily covers are probably worse than the Interstates, too, right? Local police forces are weird with what they choose to cover. Here in New York City, the various state parkways, like the Grand Central Parkway in Queens and the FDR in Manhattan, are almost devoid of speed checks, while the major at-grade thoroughfares, like Woodhaven Boulevard, are crawling with NYPD traffic patrols. Not in Manhattan, though...
Here in East Texas it really depends on what day it is(if the cops are pressed to meet there quota or not) Some days the highways will be free from any cops and other it is just crawling with them for miles and miles. and then some times there will only be a few. but i know that about a mile from where i live is a speed trap and there is a cop there atleast once a week. and then there are atleast 5 speed traps that are with-in 5 miles of my house. so yes city cops are worse than highway.
@hyperman717 Quotas in law enforcement are against federal law. The police simply do not have quotas. But due to budgeting, scheduling, staffing and their intermittently targeting hotspots it may seem to the uninformed that they do.
Very nice video. I like how you slowed it down to real-time for some of the points of interest. I'm surprised there weren't more LEOs on 59S to Houston. Ugh, I hate that stretch from Houston to Texarkana...
At 5:55, I wished that gas prices would still be that cheap. (Well, that would be considered cheap now since $3.50/gal will become a new modern low this summer.) $2.00/gal is long gone now. *sniff sniff*
You love to drive in the fast lane. That's called being an LLB (left lane bandit). You're a dangerous driver. Move over if you're not passing someone.
i get out and drive for 2 or 3 hours when i want to relax i dont mind traffic i used to think it was wierd but at least i know houston from north to south and east to west
i may not be the only one that makes me feel good .
Very cool video, but would have been better to see the Houston skyline at the end. Next time do a loop around downtown before you retreat back to Kingwood!
(The MCD, at present, is based in Montrose and the Third and Fifth Wards)
Missed the I-30 turn in LR, I see. :-) I recognized Dixon Road, where you turned back around. Good thing, because I don't wish Pine Bluff on my worst enemy, heh heh.
Just out of curiosity did you use a video camera or a photo camera and what program did you use to turn it in to timelapse also the slowmo soud effects? I tried to see if you answered this in the past but you got too many comments to look through. Thanks, lenn
I used a standard minidv camcorder and then simply dropped it into iMovie and applied the "speed up" effects onto it. The only special thing was that it had to be done twice because the fastest setting couldn't get the video to be under 10 minutes.
The slowmo effect was downloaded off the net somewhere and just inserted in a appropriate place in iMovie. The video looks "slow" but was in fact real time and not speed up like the rest.
It truly stinks. I don't know when but suppposedly 59 is to be converted into an interstate. Which would mean funding and possibly the circumventing of some of the smaller towns.
I like this. I wish the awful drive through East Arkansas would go as fast for me. I'm guessing you live in Countrywood or Cordova? Looks like maybe you got on 40 at G'town Parkway.

DarthFastidious 2 years ago
well besides i-10. 59 is known for drugs. people don't want to drive through louisiana because the cops there are the worst towards texans.
sbarudzija 2 years ago
You have to realize The south does not have as many Air Craft Cops like the North. so there are more ground units.
