  • If you said this statement in the USA right now you would be accused of racism. Anytime you criticize overspending in today's politically correct world your opponents use the racism charge to try to stop the argument. Which demonstrates that they have already lost the argument.

  • I use to be a self-admitted socialist. Now I see that system as highly destructive to economies around the world.

To put it bluntly, socialist systems consume more than they produce, plain and simple. They discourage people from taking innovative risk and ultimately feed off people's desire to have something for nothing.

Their politicians promise everything under the sun for free. But the reality is, nothing is free.

Many of these socialist economies have run out of credit.

  • fantastic speaker! i hope one day soon he becomes tory leader!

  • I love the Maritime metaphors. Very British!

And, "Brezhnev era apparatchik!" Excellent. Too many people won't even begin to understand that.

  • This guy is the right stuff. If there were more guys like this around, then Britain could be saved from the poisonous, socialist bilge of cretins like Brown, Harman et al.

Socialism has done a lot of damage to the UK but thank God there's people like Daniel Hannan to counter awful socialist filth...

  • wow, that was amazing

  • It's very rare to see such a straight-forward no b.s. politician like this. I wish we had some like that.

  • In a time long ago, in a sea not so far away, (1812) the British were impressing our sailors and forcing them to work on their ships. I say it's due time that the British return the favor and impress upon us (MEP) Rep.Hannan. MEP.Hannan already acknowledges that he's on the most dilapidated ship of the fleet. He mine as well serve where he can do some good.

  • the world will be better after the 9/11 trials and breaking of the piramide of NWO/bilderberg /skull / its a long long list...looks scary but what else is there left ?? nothing ...i refuse to let me ,my wife ,my unborn kid life in this unfar madness...may the gods be with us ...love you al xx

  • wow, i was wrong, there may be some real men in Britain and Europe! America might not have to carry on the fight against Socialism and Tyranny alone, i pray there are more where Daniel Hannan came from!

  • Thank You MR Daniel Hannan! Please speak out the truth! Enough LIES!!

  • I've come to the belief that the puppeteers of the world leaders want these governments to keep spending as it'll make the world financial crysis worse, making it more likely we will submit to a one world currency and the EU.

  • Gordon and his cohorts should be hung for treason.

  • It sounds good, but the tories would do the same thing giving british jobs to eastern europeans.fethering there own nests.

  • Conservatives MPs and their followers are forever deluded. For example to think that a Conservative Prime Minister would do better in the current situation than any other prime minister from another party. Take it or leave it was a Conservative PM - Margaret Thacher - that was the engineer of the mess that Britain finds itself in, unbridled selfishness, greed, selling off the family silverware, destruction of families in the north of England via the collapse of d mine industry etc

  • why doesnt show gordons face? i wanna see his bloooooooody face!

  • Telling it how it is... Well done Hannan. Watch this space. He IS our next Prime Minister. The applause, the enthusiasm, the truth. At last, with the truth we can work our way out of the situation we are in.

  • I think he knows what he is talking about. We need more like him in the US.

Daniel Hannan was first elected to the European Parliament in 1999, and was re-elected at the top of his party's list for the South East England constituency in 2004. In April 2008, Daniel Hannan was elected to the top position of the Conservative list for the 2009 European elections in the constituency of South East England, making it almost certain that he will be re-elected to the Parliament in 2009. Go Hannan!

  • Hannan is a one trick pony, you really think UKIP can be anything other then a fringe party? the Greens have a more substantial agenda.

UKIP was created with the single task of removing UK from the EU yet its only electoral successes have been to the european parliament.

  • forget gordon brown.. what about maggie thatcher....lol

  • Marxist, socialist, fascist. There all the same to me. I dont care what you call them. They are a bunch of totalitarian, control-freak thugs. Liberal-fascist is an apt description of them. They preach tolerance, but it only applies as long as you think the same as them.

  • Is Daniel Hannan getting as much press in the UK as he is here in the USA? Are people ready to listen?

He's got some great ideas, and I am so glad there is someone out there who is telling it like it is!

    Go Daniel Hannan!

  • please defect to america we need guys like you!

  • hardly! your country managed to recover the AIG bonuses in about a week, and no one here has even bothered to try and recoup RBS etc. Other than a few pointed figures from the deputy PM.

  • the the govt new all about the bonuses beforehand, they got out of bed,and faced a wrath of angry voters, and created this phony balony angry tantrum,to say they new nothing about the bonuses is a joke, and further more the bonues are legally binded by a contract, pull the bailout cash not the bonuses, its funny, the govt told the ceo of general motors to step down because its billions in debt, when the govt is trillions in debt, the uk and us govts both are run by idiots!

  • the "bonus" outrage was actually a distraction for what happened with the AIG bailout money going back door directly into Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, CIti, all this is public information. Outraged bout 165 million when dozens of billions where given to these banks through AIG.

  • If AIG hadn't accepted billions in bailout cash, they wouldn't have had the funds to pay those obscene bonuses. It's a typical congressional dog and pony show.

  • This guy is fabulous! Hope to hear more from him. And I wish other politicians had the guts and spunk that this guy does!

  • didnt know i could despise a person as much as i despised gordon brown when seeing him sit giggling there - he only proved hannans point!

  • Superb - Very intelligent man & an excellent speaker, great analogies & he speaks for us all while Mr Brown just sits their smirking like the toad from wind in the willows...we need rid of this unofficially elected maniac & we need rid of him now!

  • Daniel Hannan's statement to Gordon Brown rang true. Brown was a useless Chancellor now an even more inept PM

  • Thatcher was good for Scotland - she refused to let it become a shameless leech and welfare state sponging off the English .

Unlike unelected incompetent Scot Brown who just bailed out the ungrateful Scots and their bent banks (who are really as bankrupt as Iceland) using English money and now wants to bankrupt the Bank of England.

Hannan and an English Parliament NOW!

Scots OUT" Bunch of Marxist dinosaurs anyway.

  • easy tiger

  • Hannan a future Prime Minister in an England devoid of corrupt incompetent Scottish politicians such as SOCIALIST BROWN I hope!

  • more please more ..sod brown ...

  • Well Done Hannan -You have said what we all long to say to Gordon Bennett Brown!

    BUGGER OFF GORDON BROWN!

  • He's obviously not been 'taken' by the vile Common Purpose organisation.

  • I wish someone would stand up to Obama like that

  • They would never allow the houses to speak to Obama face to face like this lol

  • That ia a masterful piece of oratory. Gordon gets such a deserved kicking. Hannan should be on the front bench.

  • Comment removed

  • This guy is great. You cannot spend your way out of a recession or borrow your way out of debt. Too bad America is going along with that concept. Mr. Hannan could be the next Margaret Thatcher.

  • Let's hope he's not the next Thatcher. That woman was the worst thing to happen to Britain. She is the scum of the earth period.

  • Sorry but you just come across as a labour supporter by commenting like this which is really not a good place to be right now.

I was just impressed by the way Hannan laid into Brown so smoothly and with such conviction.

  • ... And you come across as very misguided. Hannan can say what he likes because he's not in a position to govern. As I said previously, he and people like him have been castigating the government, yet they have no alternative proposals. End of argument, end of story.

  • The story was actually written 200 years ago. It is called the U.S. Constitution.

Gordon Brown is a Bilderberger, globalist, supporter of a world carbon tax, and proponent of Marxist central banking and fiat currencies. He is set on taxing the middle class into extinction. That includes you and me Zekie.

The only alternative is found in true free markets (which we have not had in the USA for nearly 100 years.) sound money, and LESS government spending. Mr. Hannan is spot on, Thank you.

  • It's kind of you to stop arguing and to think the story's over. Everyone else can continue the discussion.

Not being in a position to govern does not eliminate the accuracy of someone's statements. If it did, then only the governors would be considered correct. And wouldn't it be nice for them to never be criticized by someone not in a similar position of authority? Dissent is key to healthy government.

It sounds to me like he would allow short-term failure to avoid long-term calamity.

  • it "would have happened on anyone's watch"...wow another apologist

Would "anyone" have sold of Britain's gold reserves at basically a loss?

    Brown is a socialist tool.

  • Your comment is about 1 month too late and irrelevant. Now who's the tool?

  • the "The devalued Prime Minister of a devalued Government" was originally used by John Smith (labour leader 1992-94) against John Major. I'm no supporter of Brown though, an somebody who has not been elected and who the people have no faith in should not be allowed to rule a country, the same goes for Cowen here in Ireland.

Lol at marxist banks though, good one

  • That was great!

  • I think I'm in love!

Can we clone Mr. Hannan and bring him to the USA?

  • Good speach. Gordon Brown was sitting giggling. I can hardly bear to even look at him these days.

  • Brown is going down in history as the WORST (sub)Prime Minister in the UK's history. He has ruined the British economy and destroyed the hopes and opportunities of Britons for the next 30+ years.

If the Labour Party had ANY credibility they would hold a leadership contest and remove him from office. Now.

  • OWNED. PRops to HANNAN

  • That would be sweet.

  • Nice, now he has to give the same speech to Obama.

  • obama is planning the same thing here >=)

  • Nice!!

  • debt at 10% of GDP is crippling.

  • Someone please forward this to Obama.

  • america is becoming

    U... united

    S... states

    S... socialist

    R... republic

  • Notice Brown was laughing much like Obama was on 60 minutes. These thugs think they are invincible and think that the people of the world are nothing but expendable, insignifigant slaves. Laughing while they are sinking the world into hell without giving a damn who knows it.

  • the banksters make sure they employ psycopaths/sociopaths , dangling on their hidden strings..

its no suprise they laugh through this..

watch 'conspiracy of silence' to get an idea of the calibre of poiticians that are placed as puppets in front of the public

  • Thanks for the recommendation. Will do.

  • Absolutely amazing!!!

  • Wow that is Ron Paul with attitude!

  • Daniel Hannan says what GOP members of Congress SHOULD be saying about Obama! Why can't this guy move to America and run for President? I heard he was born like somewhere near Hawaii...

  • Society has become an addict...

  • Best politician alive today, who is not afraid to tell it like it is.That nose picking snot eating Gordon Brown and his party of bandits have leveled the British people to the ground.

Labor has destroyed all that was good in Britain.

    God Save the Queen.

  • Excellent post. jboyko3 said it best.

    Here here!!

  • We dug ourselves into this hole, looks like we'll just dig our way out.

  • I wish more than 2 or 3 congressmen in the states had the kind of balls that this gentleman does. Hear hear!

  • Excellent. At least one man in Europe gets it.

  • 202....19 comments

  • We are going to have a marxist prime minister in 10 years: David Milliband :(

  • Uhh.... That was... nice one. Good work:)

  • I like this guy. It was sort of like a british parent scolding their out of control, thieving bastard of a son.

  • Gotta LOVE hearing the truth!!!!

  • Stickin' it to the man!

On Fox today, he said he would have supported Ron Paul.

  • Thank you for posting that!!!! Let's have some more.

  • Woot Woot Go Liberty Go Liberty !!

  • He better be careful he don't have an "accident"...

  • Amazing, that made sense.

  • Dude!

Along with Ezra Levant, I now have a new hero.

  • This is the first time I see someone giving it to commie Brown.

  • How is Gordon Brown a communist? Do you even know what communism and Marxism actually entail?

  • Gordon Brown is the reincarnation of Stalin. He's old Labour posing as someone respectable!

  • "Gordon Brown is the reincarnation of Stalin". That statement alone tells me you are indeed the embodiment of delusion.

  • And your reply tells me that you have little or no comprehension of the relative parity between some of old labours, Marx's, and Stalins' policies and style of government. The labour party was originally full of Marxist unionists and the hard left-wing(ers) are still there in the background. Gordon Brown himself believes in the welfare state and certainly does not seem to believe in freedom of speech. This government has systematically passed legislation to erode our liberties.

  • "does not seem to believe in freedom of speech"? What were the anti-war protestors in Luton doing a fortnight ago? What have members of the public been doing regarding the government's plans to open new roads near to their homes? Answer : they have all exercised their right to freedom of speech. Comparing this governement's ideologies to marxism tells me you know very little about the ideology that is marxism.

  • I clearly know more of it than you (marxism).

  • Is that that why your riposte was so nominal?

  • i didn't consider the energy used in typing to be equal to the benefits of a full and detailed refutation. After all, when one is dealing with an individual of clearly NOMINAL intellectual integrity, little historical aptitude and an ardent, profound and misplaced support of the Labour Government.

  • Firstly, saying I have nominal intellectual integrity is a HUGE misnomer, as everyone on this page can see, whether they agree with my views or not. I have a better than average insight as far as historical events are concerned also. Nowhere have I said that support this government, but I won't have idiots criticising a government when they have no alternatives to remedying this economic debacle. Put up or shut up!!!

  • many protesters trying to do that but they get arrested

  • The manliest man from Fish 'n' Chipslandia. Hannan wins!

  • nice

  • I wish all I owed was 20,000 pounds! Haha.

  • Americans are now born with 125,000 dollars in debt.

  • If Bush hadn't spent BILLIONS on an illicit war, it would be considerably less, don't you think?

  • Just because you put two words together like "illicit war" or "social justice" doesn't enhance the meaning. In fact, all it does is enhance emotion and destroy meaning. What, for instance, would be a "licit war?" All war squanders wealth yet war remains a fact of life. The "war on poverty" squandered wealth and created more poverty. The "war on drugs" confiscated wealth and drugs have never been more plentiful. WWII resulted in vast loss of wealth over the decades of the cold war.

  • Your face must be next to "semantics" in the dictionary LOL. An illicit war, is one based on a false premise and WITHOUT the ratification of the UN, that my friend, is an illicit war. You're veering away from the facts when you talk about WWII, where this country acted in defence of Hitler's tyrannical behaviour. We were not under attack from Iraq at all, but cobbled together spurious reasons and a spurious dossier to attack a country that had no WMD's whatsoever.

  • Your argument might make some sense if the UN were the king of the world but the UN is only a loose collection of corrupt kleptocrats who issued resolution after resolution and never intended to back any of them up because they were making money by taking bribes from Iraq. What makes a UN sanctioned war licit? The United States had been in an effective state of war with Iraq since 1991 and almost daily Iraq was firing on US and UK jets patrolling the no-fly zone, an effective act of war.

  • Most, if not all countries are answerable to the UN (including the UK and the U.S). The fact that you choose to mitigate this issue makes your outlook just as corrupt as Bush and Blair's, which doesn't depict you in a very good light. Stop rewriting history and accept the fact that the uk/us went to an illiicit war with Iraq predicated on a pack of lies. As for 1991, that's a totally separate issue. I'm alluding to events of 2002/2003. Stay on subject.

  • Without 1991, the UN would not have issued toothless resolution after toothless resolution. Without Iraq throwing out the toothless UN weapons inspectors in 1998 2002/2003 doesn't happen. Most countries are not answerable to the UN because the UN has no power. In 1998 Bill Clinton went to war and when he couldn't get the UN to approve the damned thing he changed NATO's mission. Was that war illicit? You miss the broader point. War is war. If one is in a war one either surrenders or fights

  • Yet again, you are veering away from the issue. This is about IRAQ in 2002/2003. This country went to (an illicit) war based on a pack of lies WITHOUT the consent of the UN period . Stick to the damn issues. I must say I admire your pathetic attempt to bamboozle me.

  • I have no need to bamboozle you as you are already bamboozled. You obviously believe history happens in a vacuum. You have no understanding of the facts surrounding 2002/2003 and are simply parroting someone else and there is no point in giving further energy to this topic. Your need to hate exceeds your desire to understand. It is a very common condition these days but just because everybody is doing it doesn't make it the best thing to do. Good luck.

  • Maple,,your knowledge is strong,,refreshing..Peace

  • Fellow americans here is a question. Why not go on the silver standerd rather than gold? get rid of the dollar send them all to china to pay of the debt. (i don't know what they will use them for.) We have a lot of silver.
