I don't really think music is about always "pushing boundaries". I didn't think it was exceptionally musical, and it would have been more effective if the rhythms were more in-sync. The ostinato was steady the whole time, but the other 'lyrics' were more rushed, and so it didn't feel like a rhythmic machine like it perhaps should have.
ahahahah ur a fckin dumbass that wasnt the start spangle banner it was a srry exuse for a drunken persons idea of the staar spangle banner that suxed all the did was shout and it wasnt even the words, beat,or anything ahhahaha :P
Well I guess I'm proudly the odd one out here. I'm an American, and I thought this was awesome. It may not be Vienna boy's choir harmonies, but that doesn't make it any less musical. I agree 100% that music is all about pushing boundaries, and these guys have done just that.
Wow. I never thought the stories about American patriotism I heard in History where that true. Seriously, that's just ridiculous. I wouldn't give a fuck if someone burped our awful national anthem.
Can't believe some of you are offended by this. Whether or not you actually like the American national anthem, just because you're patriotic doesn't mean you have take it so fucking personally when someone sings a bad version of it.
Wow, how does this group exist? Who in there sane mind would pay to listen to such crap? Not only is this disrespectful to me as an American, but also to me as a musician.
Wow, an american and a musician who's unable to appreciate the avantgarde OR humour... ;)
But since you were wondering: these guys have existed for 20 years and toured all over the world, so I guess there are quite a few insane people out there who pay to listen to this choir, eh?
BTW, they do a similar kind of treatment to the national anthems of all the countries they visit.
And I didn't say they didn't. If you read my comment, I clearly state that as an American, I didn't find this offensive. It is a 'musical' rendition of a song. However, I did say that this rendition has no musical qualities in a standard sence. Most people would agree with that, I would bet.
While I have nothing against Finns (i like finns, finland was the only country that paid us bach for WW1 & WW2), I do feel that this interpratation of our national anthem is disrepectful.
I'm a purist. I just don't like altering our anthem like that. I don't know what your feelings are about Kde domov můj, but I just think that if a group is going to sing the Star-Spangled banner, they should do a respectful interpretation.
An anthem is just one of many songs, maybe I'm more proud of such a song but it is still just a song. And by the way, I can't understand how one can sing about bombs and rockets and gleaming sky or whatever in a national anthem. Just look at the lyrics of Kde domov můj and watch the difference;-)
The whole world pays attention to us you dipshit. There is never any indiference to the United States. There is always either love or hate. I am 'honoured' that we are the greatest nation on Earth. Thanks for giving us such a fine start!

What the fuck is this shit? What a disgraceful and despicable performance. How would the Finns feel if we butchered their national anthem?

they can do it any way they want. They are the only country that EVER repaid a war debt to the US. God blessw Finland and all who sail on her.
glomofnit 3 years ago 12
Untrue. Britain finally finished repaying her war debt to the USA a couple of years ago.
Zumbruk 3 years ago
@glomofnit excuse me? Britain repaid a war debt to the US in 2006.
fightfairfightfair 6 months ago
@glomofnit be nice if the US paid off its war debts sometime. Vietnam is still awaiting the reparations promised from the Paris Peace accords.
Iraq and Afghanistan can await forever too no doubt.

I don't think it was meant to be disrespectful to the United States... but... uh... it is disrespectful to anyone who know anything about music.
LinguesonoVita 4 years ago
yer obviously not a musician, music is about pushing boundries, not being limited by them
cryptoprocta 4 years ago
But music is also about harmony, taking those limits and pushing them in a direction that causes soothing lines and beauty, not pain.
LinguesonoVita 3 years ago
I see harmony in this piece.

Disrespectful? Listen, it would be disrespectful if Finland LIBERATED the USA with their army... okay? Calling it "Operation Yankee Freedom."
This is not disrespectful, this is just fun.
