I spent 4 years there as a kid in the 80's I went to sullivan elementary. I still think about Yokosuka every day, wish I could move back and give my kids the oppurtunity to live there.

A lot of folks pronounce it the way you do (ya-kew-ska). I always thought it was yo-ko-ska.

Things have DEFINETELY changed since 1997. HUGE change. A lot more towers and the Navy Exchange is two stories now. Would be nice to go back there someday.

Thanks for this. I haven't seen this area since '78-'79. I don't remember much, except that you had to go through 9 tunnels before reaching Yokohama. Do you have any footage of inside the base you can share, or is that against some policy? I'd sure like to see the Ichiban Towers again. :)
