@fearghal10 Yes, it will happen naturally as you progress through the level. It's a shortcut. You also get the Cling Ring from a corpse in between the gates.

@abovethuniverse Ostrava will give it to you in 1-4 or drop it once he is defeated. It's the Mausoleum key IIRC.

I just beat 1-1 and thought I would try this trick to farm some souls. Well, I got him to fall down, and then I followed to check for loot. Wow did I get a heart attack when he apparently had survived the fall and attacked me full on! I survived with like 5hp, ran up the stairs in wild panick and thank god the son of a bitch fell down again, and this time died!

I got a Purple Flame Shield already. And fairly early too. I just beat the Armor Spider and Tower Knight and started 1-2. So the dragons have moved on, leaving all their precious treasure to me! HA HA HA!!! :D

@Kororocks12 The dragons moving away is a tendency event resulting from white world tendency. They'll return if your world tendency becomes black (e.g., by dying in world 1 in human form). Just a heads up.

Stand far away from red knight

Start shooting soul arrows

Roll backwards

Keep shooting soul arrows

(trust me on the roll backwards part)

@BladeTheHedgehog0 That only works decently at higher levels. When you're running a fresh character you're only doing 1 - 2 damage per soul arrow, and your mana reserve isn't very high.

@Eskalial2 You get ~2,000 souls for it and a chance for a Winged Spear. It's a good LOW LEVEL soul farming area. Reaper farming in shrine of storms is a waste of time. You're better off farming the mantas in 4-4

@Wakkawakka388372 I'm pretty sure Old King has a "safety zone" which is the mausoleum he's in, and so he won't go too far out of the door before returning.

@AskMyselfWhy Yea, tried it today, but the backstab tactic worked just fine on him. Ungortunatly it took over 1 hour to kill him, I did like 13 damage (14 with turpentine!!) per backstab. (I did this on a completley new char.

Doran's easy if you have a dark shield. He's easy to backstab. Use the demon brandt that you get from him as the weapon when you're fighting him.

(actually, if you don't feel like fighting Doran, watch the Youtube videos showing the backstab trick... or just try it. Walk him out past the bridge & go through the building, he'll stop and start walking back, when he gets back on the bridge, sneak up behind him & backstab. Just repeat that until he's gone. Also, I think I did see a Youtube vid where someone led him off the stairs like your Red knight trick.)

@TheDarkHavok Build up your stamina so you can move more quickly. Your armor will slow you down til then. I believe you can get your first catalyst in 3-1.

@Akrilloth Or... if you go to 1-1 and when ur on the bridge go through a passage on the left... kill the demon gredglings and they all drop a crescent moon grass each. you can either die and repeat (just remember to touch your blood stain) or go back to nexus and repeat. dying is faster.

I used this tip a couple times today. kinda cheap but easy way to get souls. I choose the hunter class but using magic seems really cool. I heard the soul arrow is good from the guide book I have. How can I use magic (just buy magic points???) Please help.

@elmotron To use magic you have to level up your Intelligence stat. 10 INT gives 1 spell slot. 14 INT gives 2 spell slots. 18 gives 3. 24 gives 4. You can have a max of 6 stat-based spell slots and then there's a ring that gives you 1 spell slot as well.

ive killed the red eye knight at least 10 times, but he never drops the shield or the spear just grass, is it that rare? should i spend my time doing this or is it a waste?

Well the spear is a rare drop from the knight, but you can FIND one in 1-2. The shield is also a rare drop, but you can FIND one in 1-1 as well.

The first place you can get it is past the fog gate behind the blue eyes knight. Past the room full of barrels and the guy with the fire pots, there's a path that forks to the right. There's a Dredgling merchant there who will sell it to you for 2,000 souls I think.

You need to make sure he falls all the way to the bottom, which can be done by taking the angle of his fall into account. If he doesn't go far enough off, he'll only wind up falling down the next level or two which will not kill him. :/ Sorry to hear about the unfortunate luck.

In order to open that door you have to go through the left floor level and up that section there. Eventually when you get past the blue eyes knight you go DOWN the closed off tower and pull a lever to open it. You can probably find details for it in another video :]

Royal. Level 1. Thief Ring. Soul Arrow. Blast him and kite. That would be the easiest way to do it. It's a nice video for those who don't have that option but for future reference, I recommend only filing the important parts. Intro > Actual Scene > Summary. This could've been a 30 seconds video at higher quality.
