i have a question. i have tendonitis in my dominate shoulder and im wondering what range of draw weight i cud get that wudnt hurt my shoulder everytime i draw it yet id like to be able to take it out in the field (georgia). i see a bow that has a 30-60lb draw and 308fps at bass pro and im wondering if that wound be fine. ive always shot rifles and thinking of archery so i can have sumthing to do with my 11 yr old brother besides fish
@Helikaon9 cause they are always full of s**t and trying to better than everyone, i am a very fit and tone 23 year old, and i am an ironworker and welder, which is very hard and strenious work, and my bow isn't even at 60lbs, yet, tho i can pull back 60lbs easily, i do not want my bow that high yet till i get very used to it, right now it is about 58lbs or less, but why would you want to turn it up when in a treestand when it is really hard to pull back??? and deer can see you!!!
when i got my bow i had them adjust the weight down to 50 pounds now it is a little easier and i think i can get it to 55 now. is there a big difference in performance in 5 pounds more
i have a parker challenger youth bow, string. 83.25" and cable 34.73 how would i change its weight, i dont know what the weight of it is but i just wanted to raise the draw weight just a little bit,..... can i do that to this bow and how would i do it?
Man. I found a compound bow in the attic..I think it's a 70pound pull weight..and no limbs. I think it's custom though..oh well, this video was still informative.
I bought a cheep bow and im left handed. It is a right handed bow. I seem to be about to pull and aim it just fine. Is there some reason I should look for a lefthanded bow? Thanks for the vidio.
@nateL1914 Eye-dominance is a major factor when shooting a bow or rifle. If you are right eye dominant, you should be able to shoot it just fine. My brother is left handed but right eye dominant and he shoots a right hand bow.
@ikesoutdoors i have a cheap youth compound bow like the Bear Archery Scout Youth Archery Set,can you tighten the draw weight on one like that? if so how
Can anyone tell me how to change the weight on a bow that doesn't have limb bolts? There 3 slots labeled A, B and C where the cable attaches but I'm not sure if that will change my draw length as well???? anybody???
Ike, great video. I knew how to add/subtract draw weight, but your tips regarding the measurements and references for making sure turns are even were very beneficial. I'm going to go double check my bow right now! Thanks!
ok when you talk about that window you can see through to check how far you twist it does it look kinda like a hole where you can see a screw like thing
Bro, excellent audio, video aide, this saved me from taking my bow to the archery shop,I bought it off of ebay its in excellent conditon but I think an NFL lineman had it before me, I am pretty buff and it took my pop and I both to pull it back, going to do this tonite when I get home!
hi, i have a question, im shooting a hoyt powerhawk, the bow and shoot up to 303 fps at 70 pounds, so my question is if there's a way to make it shoot faster than that, i see hoyt has custom limbs available in 80 and 90 pounds, will my bow able to hold the limbs ? if so will it shoot faster?
i just got mine its a simple 25 lb. compound bow i got from sports authority and i think i found the limb bolt but it doesnt have a hole, how do i adjust it then?
ok i was ok until you got to the last part. im fixing to be working at a summer camp for boy scouts and im going to be the archery instructor. and ive never been shown how to adjust the pounds on them. but in order to keep the bow even and lose you have to tighten up one end and losen up the other? sorry that just doesnt make sence, could you clearify that for me? thx i would appreciate it!
turn the limb bolt an even amount in the same direction to set weight. once you have the draw weight set check the tiller like shown in the video by measuring from the inside of the limb pocket to the string. If this is even or within an 1/8" your good if it is further out than an 1/8" you need to adjust the limbs. If one measurement is longer you need to tighten up that limb a small amount and loosen the other limb the same amount. Just the opposite if the measurement is shorter.
@ikesoutdoors hi i got a compund bow skyhawk indian x series 30''to32'' draw and 55lb to 70lb duble cam and i am having truble drowing the bow i have done as u say in the vid and got it down as far as i dear but still having truble can pull it ones then thats me/sholder done in but dont no if i can take it down futher as i dont have ant scales exetra so how will i no wen i have takern it down as far as i can with out finding out the hard wat and loosing a body part lol

@douglas0929 not really but 5 pounds will get you used to heavier weight and will eventually get you 10 or 15 pounds more

i have an idea on keeping the turns evan you should draw a line on the nut to the bow limb and just line it up so you know its a perfect turn
johnnybio1 1 year ago
so do you take the limb blot in turne it up the put more ont the draw in turne it out to less the draw? not taking it out but you know.
buckmenoutdoor 1 year ago
@buckmenoutdoor Yeah when you tighten the limb bolt it adds more draw weight when you loosen it you lower the draw weight.

If the limb bolt doesn't have the slot for an allen wrench it is not adjustable.
