AEOD got "Worst WAD" at the Cacowards simply because of the elitism of the Doom community. 'Nuff said.

What these critics don't get is that if they wanted a serious wad, or a wad with "cohesion" (whatever that means), then they can play Scythe, or Alien Vendetta, or Hell Revealed (or Zen Dynamics, if they wanted cohesion with new weapons and enemies). They shouldn't get in the way of people who want a WAD with huge numbers of enemies and weapons, who would therefore play AEOD.

I'm really not sure of the mindset behind Aeons of Death.

They got to include all sorts of monsters/weapons/items/etc, but none of them really have any sort of cohesion with each other.

A lot of people like this kind of stuff, and that's cool. I'm sure an endless amount of different monsters and a new game every time you play has more than a little bit of appeal.

But to me it really seems like just a bunch of things thrown together. A case of quantity over quality, a slapshod pile of...stuff.

also, monsters and weapons in their own category are unbalanced, so any levels might be easier or even harder when you played second time! it means difficulty changes during every playing, which is a very rare thing in the history of games =)

and if you play often, maybe you can see all the weapons!

(I think I saw all the weapons i AEoD 4, without cheats)

Yes, they have taken monsters and weapons for several diffrent games and mods. Then they made it so that each time a original doom monster is spawned it is changed for some other with the same "strenght", and the same with weapons.

Ex: each time an imp spawns theres a list of monsters that will spawn instead, (theres a small chance the imp will be an imp.)

The mod is called aeon of death (just like it says in the title) and works well with almost every single doom wad (such as plutonia).

The good thing with it is that it works with almost all wads and that each time you play it theres diffrent types of monsters and weapons.

The bad thing is that there isnt a theme to it all. But honestly the monsters fit almost as good as the original ones in most wads.
