Wanting to be "accepted" and questions of "identity" not only affect transnational adoptees, but most immigrants and minorities. I understand what the Korean adoptee was saying about how things would have been different for her if she were "Caucasian," but many minorities and immigrants can say the same thing about their own experiences. Instead of being in "Asian denial" and trying to be white and "accepted" by the Jewish community, I wish she would just accept herself for who is she is.
It is because of people like you that she feels the way she feels. Why do you feel the need to depreciate her experience by comparing her to immigrants and making it seems that her experience is THAT common?? You failed to notice something central here: Children of color raised by parents from the same ethnic group are PREPARED to deal with racism but people in her situation not.
.
It is more than just a mere "identity" issue !! She was raised as white but is seen as Asian
You know I see alot of Asian female in ca wanna be white. What they do is only dating white guys. But don't know the problem of this woman have. Also white guys don't think about that. I feel bad for them.
hey need your help im starting a world group for adoption storys by my landing pages please email me cjvowlesbball@hotmail.com im adopted to a white family and always want support colin new zealand
I can't help feeling sorry for non-whites adopted by Whites. Transracial adoption scenarios do tend to create terrible identity problems for the child involved. Unfortunately, many White "anti-racists" do not look or think beyond their desire to prove how "open-minded," "anti-racist," "in," and "tolerant" they are by deliberately choosing a non-white child.
Yes that is true, but people who are adopted generally feel like they have to prove themselves in order to be accepted. I guess the fact that we weren't "accepted" from the beginning, may make us feel like we need to prove that we aren't disposable. When you throw the racial aspect into the mix, it can get more complicated. You're not only trying to prove that you are worth something, but that you're someone beyond your race because your race/ your appearance is the first thing people see.
Asian chicks all want to be white. 80% of Asian chicks only fuck white guys.

Adoption would go even better if the parents can speak Korean.

Who the fuck name their Asian child ethnic-centric name "Sloane"? That's destined the child to a life of verbal abuse.

Culture is where you grew up and how you were raised.
Race is just genetic.
I may have Chinese ancestors, but I'll always identify myself as a 3rd generation California girl.

Wonderful clip that says as much about white privilege in America as it does transracial adoption in America.
We're kidding ourselves if we think the second is not enabled by the first.
