  • I heard that African American Vernacular English was non-rhotic (the 'r' after vowels in words like "verse" "worse" and "part" isn't pronounced). Can I have a second opinion because in this video I heard loads of 'r's. Maybe this isn't a good example of AAVE?

  • @Rufusdos It really depends because I dont pronounce my r's in certain things. (Also I dont say things I say thangs) i know that because im from the south but when I say part I drag the "a", but its white people to that are from the south who dont say their r's alot. I know for -ing words I always drop the g and instead of saying going I say gonna or goin. It really depends because i naturally do it.

  • still slave

  • @whsurz suck a black dick bitch..

  • @whsurz Its a fucking dialect...there are alot of dialects..white people have them to. The problem is that if white people dont use it...its not correct thats all. -____- Not incorrect...just a dialect.

  • c that white boy has better flow lol

  • I'm white and I get told ALL the time (it's annoying) that I "talk like a black person" what does a black person sound like? First of all I grew up in a black neighborhood and all my friends were black growing up so I guess that's why I talk like this idk my best friend/brother I've known since I was 5 has never said that...damn if my own friend doesn't even judge me why the hell are people judging me?

  • @mattdogg65 thnx btw I want to hear how you speak!

and.. your best friend has known you for a long time and he feels that its just how You speak , It is hardly necessary to mention for the people who knows you for long time. but the other people feel you speak like a black person cuz they don't know you well .. sorry for my poor english

  • @kindersurprise8 thanks never been told that before but yea I understand it now because there wasn't too many white people where I grew up so when I see one that isn't from there it's like they're talking to an alien it's almost like they be talkin down to you like they better than you shit pisses me off but people gone always be ignorant

  • @mattdogg65 Because you sound black lol, Why would you say " I grew up with black people thats why I sound like them" BUT then ask " Why does everyone judge me" ??? Thats so fucking dumb

  • @ghettojustin well see that's where you're being "so fucking stupid" because what does a black person sound like? Black people in northern california sound the same as black people in Alabama? Stop being ignorant and open your mind before making stupid comments please get some more education and you might learn a few things

  • @mattdogg65 Yes you really are fucking stupid, even the video says "African american english"....But then you have the nerve to ask me "what does a black person sound like" lol stupid. Did you even watch the video ? And no a black person in New orleans and a black person from NY will not sound the same . But BOTH still sound black. You might not be able to tell because you're white but black people can tell the difference.... you fakkit

  • @ghettojustin You just admitted black people in NO sound different than blacks in NY so explain to me what a black person sounds like jesus christ and then you say both still sound black.....once again you're making no sense

What's a fakkit? Pretty sure it's spelled FAGGOT

  • @mattdogg65 Like I said before you might not be able to tell the difference but black people can. DMX , Biggie smalls, 50 cent etc sound like black new yorkers. Lil wayne sounds like a black person from N.O. Black people already know this. Don't ask dumb questions

  • @ghettojustin god dammit you're stupid I KNOW the difference that is why I'm asking what a black person sounds like because not all black people talk the same you can't say someone talks like a black person because black people talk differently than others.....do you understand now?!?!?! Where in any of my statements did I say I don't know the difference between a NY black and a southern one?! Jesus christ how old are you 12?

  • @ghettojustin Black folk in California that are from what folk would call the hood do sound a little like the ones from the south because they people came directly from here. The ones up north aint nothing like the ones here because they dont have that southern drawl or what ever you would like to call it.

  • @mattdogg65 Pretty much they label our dialect as slang. It aint slang just another way of english.

  • wonderful i love english black american..I'm brazilian

  • kindofsuprise8. u right gullah is da most africanized english in america. it pretty much english words on an african lang syst. black english the mid-point. white southern english is mid point between english and black english. southern kids raised by black nannies back in the days is a big reason the white southern accent is different 4rm the rest. its not unknown southern whites sound black.

  • Does African people who live in Africa sound similar to African American English?

  • Um, possibly!

The only African Americans who are closest to their African roots are the GULLAHS!

They have retained a strong African influenced culture.

But all of the other African Americans are totally unafricanized !

  • @kindersurprise8 noooooooooooo not at all that's two totally different cultures oh yeah Africa is HUGE it's a continent not a country they speak all kinds of languages like Arabic, Afrikaans, Swahili [sic?]

  • @mattdogg65 yeah I know

but what about the countries in Africa that uses English as official language?

I don't think these are similar though

but there should be similar part

  • @kindersurprise8 Only country in Africa like that that I can think of is South Africa I'm sure there are more but I'm only familiar with South Africa but their English sounds like a Brittish/Australian because South Africa was a Brittish colony in the 1800s and a lot of Europeans moved there so it's really nothing like Southern English

  • @mattdogg65 yeah South African English sounds like Australian .

I mean the countries like ghana.. there are lots of their own African languages but the Official languages are English

  • @kindersurprise8 idk but that's a good question that I do not know

  • @kindersurprise8 not sure but that's a very good question

  • I really need to learn how to understand this. English is my second language, but I'have some issues where I am living right now of the US, because there is a lot of black people here who talk like this. It sounds cool, but I can't understand it :(

  • all black english aint slang. but slang is a part of it as it is in every other language. people act like black english is a young phenom like old white and black people sound the same. i hate that black english gets no respect and people blantly call it ghetto andbad english not realizing that it was made here in the usa from interaction of whites and blacks. the vocab is english based but the a lot things in black english dont translate right in english. it crazy. they 2 different lang.

  • THis is African-American Language...just like English, Spanish, French, German etc. AAL is a Language. A Language that has their own nouns, verbs, grammer and format. The predominately white school district that I teach in, is currenly working on their staff learning the language. Not to teach in schools, but for us as educators to speak, understand and relate.

  • look i speak black english and it aint all slang. the main difference is grammar and pronuncation. the main difference between standard english and black english is whats different in black english usually is an african vestige in regard to pronuncation and accent. as in when i speak spanish and a white person speak spanish we sound different. the languages are more alike than different especially in vocab but it the word it how you say. meaning grammar and pronuncation seperate them'

  • very racist, these people worked hard to document dialects from north carolina and the only that came to your mind was how dumb you think they may be? If you think there are no ni@@as smarter than you, then youre crazy. Did you not just hear the guy infer that proper language is used in proper settings? and I bet you went to college too. But Im not dogging you. I love you, racist or not. just dont use small inuendos to cover it up so that only good ole boys can understand

  • who is teaching these kidz?
