  • 15 ppl have Prohpeightardation.

  • yay 4 apple!

  • is andrew gay? just wondering. it doesnt really matter i wud just like 2 no

  • I don't see why it matters, but yes, he is. He and Matt are in a relationship.

  • i said it doesnt! matter. ive been a fan of muggle cast for 4 years now and ive just been wondering. it explains a bit.

  • @simpleplanfan011 Whoahh. Andrew and Matt are not dating!! they're just roomates!

  • @luvliestt I'm friends with both of them on facebook. It says they've been in a relationship since 10/6/07. Heyy, that's my birthday! :D

  • I really don't understand why people have such a big deal with gay people. Its not like it effects them.

  • Thank you so much Andrew you are my hero my brother is gay and I watched him go through high school and hurting because of so called " homophobs" and it was bad and he was completely unflambuoyant about it thank you for standing up for the cause

  • propeightsartation xD!

  • well, im just gonna say, 'to each his own...'

  • Totally agree wiht the points made in this video.

P.S. This is going to sound fan-girlish... but I love both MuggleCast and Imprint! =)

  • thank you andrew, that was brilliant, you need to do another one, now

  • Haha, this was funny. "Pickle phobia... and bug phobia..." LOL

  • i no that just cuz andrew supports gay rights doesnt mean hes gay, but ive always kinda thot him and matt are an item...are they?

  • lol i'm a total matt/andrew shipper.

    and jamie/andrew and ben/andrew and micah/andrew.

EVEN THOUGH I WANT ANDREW TO BE MINE.

  • Its so stupied. I think that every one should have the right to marry whoever they want regardless of gender.

  • also, ive been going through these comments...and its kind of sad...none of these people have a legitimate reason to be against gay marriage. so im guessing they are also utterly mindless. what a waste of life. maybe ive gone too far...lol.

  • you and countless others make me worry about the survival of the human race. how can you be so ignorant and narrow minded? it makes me sick to my stomach. this is a civil rights matter that is effecting thousands and thousands of people. people found it ridiculous that women wanted jobs or that african american people wanted the right to vote! this country is about equality and giving a voice to the minority. i wish you all had more tolerance. it makes me so sad.

  • Wow you're really oblivious.

Dumbledore IS gay and there's nothing wrong with that.

  • although 8 did unfortunately pass and i'm a minor so i can't vote and i'm also watching this way too late, I LOVE YOU FOR THIS VIDEO. well done!

  • wooow that was brilliant Andrew.....

    well done:D

  • hahaha. this is hilarious. im a big fan of both of your shows. keep up the amazing work :]

  • Wow...first of all, kudos to Andrew for making this, even though No on 8 wasn't the general consensus of our state, unfortunately.

Secondly...to the prohpeightards running around on these comments or off (I personally know a few), why DO you care? To the ones actually taking time out of their days to watch this video and comment just to bash it and generally piss off everyone else, why even bother? Honestly... I can't even understand you people.

  • i love you, andrew. this was rockin'.

i mean, our governor (i'm californian), who is pretty freakin' republican conservative (you know, the one that once said "I believe gay marriage should be between a man and a woman,") has spoken out against prop 8, calling it unfortunate. not to mention the gap between the minority and the majority in this election was SO close and came leaps and bounds from prop 22. we're evolving, it's just going to apparently take more time. it's just extremely sad.

  • you rock andrew! ♥

  • oh and Andrew

    you are the man

    keep up the good work!

    -peace

  • it really pisses me off when people think that they can push there beliefs on someone else. if you don't think gay people should be married then don't go to the wedding!!! it's so unfair to gay people that all those hyper religious assholes think their beliefs should control everybody else's lives!

  • I truly think you're awesome for making this video! We know what happened now, but hey, keep it up.

    Also, Mugglecast kicks ass.

  • Andrew, you cease to amaze me with your awesomeness.

    Right on.

    No On Prop 8.

    :)

  • haha prop 8 passed and as much as the fags think its going overturned, the truth is its not. Californians decided to protect marriiage:)

  • Dude, it's definitely going to be overturned. Did you even WATCH this video, btw?

  • yes i did watch the video and a couple judges can't deny what the people want forever. "power to the people" ever heard that expression?

  • Yeah, but it's not something that should ever have been voted on. You can't vote to take away a certain group of peoples' rights. The simple notion is ridiculous, discriminatory and un-American. That's why there is no doubt it will be overturned.

  • Maybe it would all be more fair if the people who voted to pass Prop 8 hadn't been influenced by a campaign based on lies? All Prop 8 had to do with was banning gay marriage, yet the Yes on 8 campaign scared people that it would take away rights for straight couples and force churches to hold gay weddings, neither of which are true.

  • haha when you lose you think it must be some conspiracy. both of those things you mentioned will happen, not to mention teachers reading books in school like king and king, oh wait, that did already happen!and no on prop 8 campaign lied a lot more than yes did

  • Prop 8 doesn't STOP teachers from reading any kind of books, and no teacher was forced to read those books before Prop 8 was passed. And honestly, why should teachers be forbidden to read a certain book? You know what that's called? Yes, censorship.

The only thing Prop 8 has done is take away marriage rights for gay and lesbian couples. In no way would it affect straight couples to have gay marriage legal.

Please do your research on sites that aren't biased in the favor of Prop 8.

  • Don't waste your time arguing with people like kittyiswhoiam. His/her 'facts' are clearly wrong and not even worth arguing. I'm already planning another follow-up video once something happens with Prop 8 in court.

  • kudos,Andrew, for standing up for these people's rights! You're totally right!

  • Democracy = majority rules? lol.

Are you a troll, or are you genuinely this ignorant?

  • democracy= the people rule(not %2 of the country)

ever heard of the constitution preamble?

when it says, "promote the general welfare"

that means that %98 of the country does not surrender its rights to %2 of the country.

  • It doesn't mean that 2% of the country have to surrender their rights to 98% of the country either hurr.

  • >you are an idiot

    No, I'm really not.

    >gays have the exact same rights under domestic partnership!

Demonstrably wrong, and if you actually cared, you could find out for yourself. I don't think you do care, though. Stop believing everything you're told and do your own research.

    >its not about rights

"Eliminate rights". The ballot disagrees with you.

    >which the queers try and convince people it is

No, I came to the conclusion all by myself. You should try it sometime.

  • >it is about protecting marriage and the minds of our children

Given how many times this has been proved to be false, I can only assume that your willful refusal to let it go is hiding bigotry and nothing else.

  • WELL I HATE A RANDOM ONE OF YOUR PASTIMES TOO, WHICH I WILL ARBITRARILY DECIDE YOU SPEND TOO MUCH TIME ON, YOU UNDERAGE REPUBLICAN SELF-ABUSE ARTIST. Did that sound suitably immature? Good.

So, you say we're stuck with Prop 8 and that's that because you say so? Why then, it must be so! A fine, and convincing argument, and not at all a complete lie.

Btw, telling your opponent you won an argument in the hope that they don't reply? That's pathetic.

  • >Face it prop 8 passed not because I say so

I didn't say it did. Reading comprehension ftw.

    >and when i said i won i wasn't referring to the arguement itself. I meant prop 8 passing

Oh, I never considered the possibility that you might be singlehandedly taking credit for millions of votes. You are a fucking imbecile, and I'm done with you.

  • you are the devil, kittyiswhoiam (wow...cool name), no wait.. everyone who voted yes on prop 8 is the devil...you discriminating group of people... go to hell and enjoy fucking up peoples lives...

  • Majority Rules, Minority Rights

  • i hope it gets over turned. PROP EIGHT IS STUPID and "nurenamr" its not an effing mental illness. idk where you people get your facts, gay people are just the same as everyone else (: get over yourselves

  • I wish YouTube would tell me it's sending my messages before I've finished.

I was just baffled at how behind the times America can be in some places, whereas in others it is leading the world. Even the states that allow it call it 'civil unions'. How pathetic.

Not that Britain's perfect. Gay married couples get the same rights in stuff like mortgages/pensions, but I don't think adoption is legalised.

Luckily I have a limited character count, so this will have to be it on the rambling front.

  • I think I'm right in saying that gay marriage has been legal in Britain for a few years. I admit we were pretty slow on the uptake (Denmark did about 20 years ago), but compared to America we're extreme liberalists. i think Britain put the laws in place around the same time as New Zealand, Canada and a few American States

  • yeah andrew!!!! i can not believe prop 8 passed my friend (who is gay) was incredibly depressed (and still is) when he heard this news.

  • um obama is against gay marriage

  • But he is against keeping other people from having the rights they deserve.

  • Prop. 8 passed. The Supreme Court ignored the people's vote when they made gay marriage legal, and now the people have voted it out again. I don't think it's right for a few liberal judges to ignore the people's voice. And Yes on 8 isn't the only campaign using their kids, I saw a video of No on 8 interviewing people, and those people included elementary-school aged kids. I'm not from California, but I think this issue is important for everyone. So No on 8 is abusing their kids too? LOL

  • Thats horrible! Andrews right. And I know that you explained it, but seriously. HOW is being gay a mental illness? I do not understand that! Its crazy. Being homosexual isn't a choice.

And it IS about rights! You can't ust ignore the feelings people have. Even if you don't agree with them.

  • this is a very well made video. i liked it a lot. (just as i post this my roommate is listening to "i kissed a girl and i liked it") but anyway. i agree with all points, and it's a damn shame prop 8 got passed. it makes me sick. i voted no for sure. our world is too complicated for just a straight (no pun intended) law concerning something like this. especially since marriage isn't religious anyway. you can get married in city hall.

  • ahahahaahahahahhaha, I know Tim's true identity.

    You go, Simsy.

One remark, though: you said gay people are no different than straight people. Not true. There's a very obvious difference between the two. The point is... it doesn't matter.

  • i CAN NOT believe prop 8 passed! eww. california i thought we were so much better then that!

  • lol i think its funny how people make asses out of themselves by being proud to be Pro-H8. they tried to put a priest in the commericials lol

  • Every single couple deserves the right to be married if they love each other. If anyone thinks differently, you are just scum.

  • Marriage is a license granted. Not a right. License carries requirements of qualification. As the world at large has always agreed, marriage is a matrimonial estate unique to man and woman. I support equal rights as it relates to domestic partnerships having the same benefits of marriage...BUT in this case I believe separate but equal cannot be transcended as a matter of human biology

  • i love harry potter

  • No on rpop 8!! i am a girl in love and going to marrie my gf!!!

  • Great for you! I hope you are very happy.

  • Just want to ask, why there is no proposition for selibacy or being single LOL? :D

  • Is it possible that normalcy lies in the union of two opposite sexes? On a PURELY biological, procreative, and evolutionary perspective, isn't it more likely that opposite sexes have a better chance to sustain the populous? I am NOT saying that Gays are deviants. I am saying that since Hetero is more in line with procreation and biologically normal, they should be afforded the traditions that the uniqueness of that union represent. Therefore, MARRIAGE is HETERO! Civil Unions for all!

  • It's so great that Harry Potter can change minds Andrew! You're right, and I think the entire COUNTRY needs to get cured of their prohpeightardation! I'm sorry to hear that Prop 8 didn't pass, but more people need to see this video!

  • wow i wish prop 8 wasnt passed.

  • I was so disappointed about Prop 8! My friends and I have been promoting No on prop 8 for weeks and weeks.

    It's really sad.

It's really the first time that rights have actually been taken away after they were given...

I can't believe that propeightardation won over actually being a decent human being.

  • jt, it will go back to court and it will win.You need to know the Cali lawsbefoe you brag.

  • This is so ridiculous. This initiative was voted down before. The liberal San Francisco judges overruled it and the mayor ILLEGALLY allowed gay marriages. We voted against it again and you still think they will magically make it all better again. NO MEANS NO it will NOT be overruled. The state voted and changed the Constitution. Marriage is between a MAN AND A WOMAN. Gay marriages are void. Don't you get it?

  • jt, I am sorry but it most likely will be over turned , you do not understand the california judicial system . We have two more chances to over turn this ad both look pretty good. Even the opposing side think is looks really good. Do you want me to explain how?

  • No I don't want to know how. The people of the state CLEARLY do not want gay marriage. We voted against it twice. HOW a judge can over turn this is totally unconstitutional. What good is the peoples voice if ONE liberal judge can overturn it. If that is the case than that is a MUCH bigger issue to me than the whole gay marriage thing is.

  • I know your upset, but please calm down, I am just filling you in on the facts this will first go to the state again with 20 something law suits, and the same judges and a state amendment is not that hard to over turn.IF it doesnt make it there it goes before the Countries Supreme court.

  • I'm not upset, I just hate our judicial system. How can you over turn something when the people voted on it. Why have a vote if the gays get what they want regardless of what the people think is right.

  • jt,,we really do not live in a democracy as most think. America is a republic, and if we all voted on every thing women would have not have the right to vote and blacks and whites would not be allowed to marry.

  • Prohabition was turned over on a nationa level,,so this will not be that hard. Amendments can always be amended.

  • Not allowing two people of the same gender is not only morally wrong, but a direct violation of the First Amendment of the Constitution. One of the main reasons this is illegal in most of the US is because it's considered unreligious. Civil marriages & religious marriages are two different things. Just because some religions are against homosexuality doesn't mean that all religions are. Some don't have any religion at all & it is unfair to impose one's religious views & rules on someone else.

  • Denying two people marriage because they are different is a form of minority discrimination. It is discouraging diversity, which is one of the Democratic Ideals of our country, something America is supposed to be founded on. ally believe in. It sends the message that everyone should be the same and those who aren't can't show it. Same-sex marriages might encourage people to be homosexual. So what? Why is being "different" a bad thing? Who decides what's "normal"?

  • ricardo you are too a butt slut.

  • Very clever Andrew.

I think what people need to realize is that everyone is allowed to have their own opinion. If someone doesn't agree with you, that's their problem. So stop bashing each other, and stop bashing Andrew.

  • I'm sure you've had many penisis on your mouth. Most religious people are the one who commits hates and crimes. Gay people just want equality. You fucking homo hater. No i am not gay, but i believe in equality. Just like you would want yours if you were a minority. Punk. People like you should be hated.

  • LOL it's funny how some homosexuals just can't accept the fact that prop 8 passed. Seeing the news reports about arson at churches, and other violent pickets.

I don't mean to say all of them do this.

I can only think of a few reasons why they would marry.

    For the benefits.

    For just plain Love.

    For the hell of it.

    For sex.

  • your retarded, and your the one who is going to hell. You are a fucking hater. Jesus hates you.

  • So if those are the reasons why homosexuals would get married, what are the reasons for heterosexuals? I'm curious.

  • Ah it doesn't matter anymore just give them their rights and see what happens later.

  • YA! GO ANDREW!!!! Good job!

  • You're using your religion to justify a ban on marriage.

Hindus believe that eating beef is immoral as quoted from the Rig Veda, so that means that you are committing a sin by eating beef chriscg619.

Don't use religion to justify discrimination.

  • yeah and god made you a retard too

  • jesus hates hater, and he hates all your religious people. Religioius people are the one who promotes hate, not gay people

  • dude im against prop 8. i was just making fun of "chrisg619". cause he kept on mentioning god. Prohpeightardation!!!! hahaha love it andrew

  • So you're for banning something because YOUR religion says it's wrong? What about the people who don't share your religion? Or don't have a religion at all? That's going against the First Amendment, Freedom of Religion.

  • That was really good, Andrew!

Oh when you were saying how the Harry Potter fandom related to this I thought you were going to say that Dumbledore was gay and that didn't change anything because we never suspected it...and he's Dumbledore!

  • Well said Andrew. EVERYONE deserves to have the same, equal, rights.

  • Whilst this does not effect me directly and if I were gay i actually could marry here as it was made legal, I'm totally against this way of thinking: that gay people shouldn't have the same rights. The fact that it passed is basically the state condoning and enforcing blinkered prejudice.

And to comments above, it's not about teaching kids to be gay it's more that if the child does turn out to be gay their parents have shown that they won't be accepted and it's wrong if they want to marry.

  • Go Andrew. :]

Too bad it passed anyway. D:

  • too bad you didnt get to come out

  • wow. shows how ignorant you are. you think, just because i defend decent people, im automatically gay. nice. its people like you that help me to understand what is wrong with the world.

  • I SAY NO to MO!

  • I still can't believe it passed. How can people be so ignorant? everyone deserves equal rights, no matter who you are. this is freaking America. and I cant stannnnd it when they use religion to justify it. religion should have nothing to do with government.

im so angry about it. i wish people weren't so narrow minded and actually tried to understand the concept of equality. sorry for ranting. I could't agree more with you, Andrew.

    -sara

  • Prop8ganda works :(

  • You know... this law should be overturned... i think it's ok for gays to be married. i don't see the big deal about it. they're people too and they deserve to be happy

  • So this morning I went to yahoo and it said "PROP 8 IS PASSED" (or something in that sense) I kinda of just stared at the computer for a second and then literally (I'm not even kidding) whispered "Andrew." I am so disappointed. I lived in CA for 4 years, and thought that people would be a tad bit more sensible. *sigh* What is wrong with people these days? This propeighttardation is serious! =(

Great video though. It convinced me even more that prop 8 is (was) a bad idea. =)

  • i am so sad it passed. i can't believe some stupid idiots wanted it to pass. i hope obama will overturn it. NO ON 8!

  • I can't believe this stupid law passed. What happened to everyone being equal? I hope one day that will happen. Great video!!!! Prohpeightardation is definitely in the air.

  • It's saddening that even in 2008, people still hate for no reason, first it was women, then blacks, finally maybe the gays will have the same rights and our generation, which 60+% of 18-29 year olds voted NO on 8, will see a world without ignorance and hatred.

  • no offense ok? but prop 8 passed because the LGBT community went after "educating" kids u know pre k and elementary, if this wouldnt had happen...well gay couples would have the same rights

  • Actually, if that were true, there would have been reported cases of homosexuality being taught in schools, but ever since May of this year, NO cases were reported, so saying that the LGBT community was "educating" kids is completely false.

  • Great video way to go!

  • Don't worry, this will be overturned...

  • It looks like Apple and Celebrities waisted their money. HOW AWESOME IS THAT?!

    You're stupid.

  • Says the idiot who spelled 'wasted' incorrectly.

  • ILU Andrew <3 It's so sad it went through :(

  • It's very sad that YES won. Gay marriage is also illegal in Australia, which sucks because I have many perfectly nice gay friends, and it's not fair that I can marry and not them. Anywho, I think this was a very well done video, and very easy to understand.

I agree with magnanimity, you should make more of these videos, they are entertaining but also very powerful and informative.

  • This is an excellent video, and explained really well. I hadn't heard of Prop 8 before this. For what it's worth, if I lived in the US I'd move to California and vote no on this. Shame, it went through. Grr, this annoys me because I have many gay friends who are very nice people and gay marriage is not legal in Australia either. :(

  • That sucks that it passed. Not right at all. Too many people got "propeightardation" =[ Those poor, sick people!

  • Andrew, you make me believe in America.

At least there are some people with sense out there.

  • Sincerely.......HAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.......HAAAA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA.............HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA! "Whether you like it or not".....Thats a good one!

  • I just heard about Prop 8. Man, I'm so sorry. If I lived in Cali I would have voted against.

The vid was great. Stay strong.

  • I can NOT believe that Prop 8 was passed! W-T-F!?!? People should be allowed to marry whomever they want DAMN IT! Grrrr!

Awesome vid though Andrew, you make excellent points.. and OMG you're wearing a Jay&Jack t-shirt! You can not get any more awesome.

See, it doesn't matter if people are gay or not. You've never said whether or not you are, but you can still stand up for gay rights regardless. You should run for president. President Sims. Can't you just hear it? ;)

    GO OBAMA though!! :D

  • Why do proponents of prop 8 believe that same-sex marriage somehow diminishes traditional marriage? It doesn't affect them at all. It reminds of me of segregationists who believed that civil rights somehow diminished white rights.

'Separate but equal' is outdated. We live in a country and era that values equality; it is time that our politics reflect this principle.

    No on 8!

  • whoah. you actually put something up. for the first time. in. ever.

  • Nice work sims! We're proud of you!

  • In 2000 65%(~4 Million people) of California residents voted to define marriage between a man and a woman. 4 Judges appointed lawyers in 2008 decided to legislated from the bench and change the will of the people. To my understanding they imposed their views on the majority of California by legislating from the bench instead of interpreting what the people wanted. Who then was the one imposing their views on the others? Your right swings your fist, ends where my nose begins.

  • Its not so much about what the majority wants as that making sure EVERYONE has the same rights. What if the majority wanted everyone who, say, wears glasses outlawed. Sure its what the majority wants but its wrong to ostracise groups of people. Its called tolerance people!

  • Andrew Sims

this video is amazing. i am so proud of you for this. expressing your view in such an articulate way. this is so intelligent and i wish i lived in cali so i could vote NO on prop 8.

  • I love the thing about the Apple Company. I hope some of them see this.

Prohpeightardation. Did you come up with that? Sounds like something only Toots could come up with.

O: You know what would be awesome?! If instead of shouting at the cars and other people they should just throw their Apple products at us! I would totally catch that.

Anyway. I love to see your face Andrew. I never see the MuggleCasters :[

  • exceptionally put...i completely agree with what you said, it doesn't make since to pass something like this and it has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with free speech thanx for puttin this video out there

  • love the point you made about apple; definately a LOL moment!! ;0)

  • We in AZ have a prop like that...and it 100% sucks!!! Thanks for posting this video, I love seeing stuff like this!!!!

  • Greg78X said: "I dont have Prohpeightardation thats why I amn Voteing YES on Prop 8"

    ----------------------------------------

Greg78X has Prohpeightardation but he's in denial. I believe that's a more severe form of Prohpeightardaion.

  • OH YEAH ANDREW. You go!

  • Not American but good luck with this, Andrew! Discrimination is teh suxxorz!

  • awsome!

  • This is my very favorite anti-prop8 video. =)

Just up about a day ago and already fav'd 80 times!! Awesome!!

  • Thank you for this, Andrew. :)

  • You fall in love with someone's soul, not their body or gender.

  • Nice Dumbledore reference. xD

But I agree, vote no on 8.

  • VOTE NO ON PROP 8 !!!!! Support our fight against injustice and stop the conservative right wing bias propaganda and false allegations !!

Freedom for all not just the majority!

  • apple donated their money. lmao. dude, today there was this lady on top of a freeway bridge and she was waving. when we got closer she was holding a yes on prop 8 sign. and i was like...WTF ? i got so freakin annoyed. i wanted to exit the freeway and slap the shit out of her. i'd say no on prop 8. it's so freakin annoying how they make such a big deal out of it. i don't really care about gays or bi. everyone should have freedom in the U.S.

  • yay!!! *happy dance*

do you have a special happy dance??? mine's pretty awesome. cuz all nerdfighters are awesome.

  • it doesnt affect the people who vote yes on 8 at all, only the gay people who loose their rights, i asked woman who had one of of the signs why she was voting yes, she said, "because its not in the bible"

  • First off, you can't teach homosexuality as I previously stated. If you really want to believe that it can be done, go to a reputable/legitimate site that says it can be taught.

And if you can only use vulgarity to express yourself I might as well not waste my time with you because you're ignorant.

And no, I'm not gay. You can't tell someone what they know they're not. So please, quit wasting your time proving your ignorance to me. Good day!!!!

  • VOTE NO ON 8!!!!! people should really be able to be married if they love each other. nothing is wrong with that. people that say yes are obviously not gay (or lesbian). so my question is to them: why do you care?! the sign says "protect marriage". i you vote yes, you are destroying it, not protecting it!!! nobody is trying to ruin your marriage people!
