Prop 8 doesn't STOP teachers from reading any kind of books, and no teacher was forced to read those books before Prop 8 was passed. And honestly, why should teachers be forbidden to read a certain book? You know what that's called? Yes, censorship.

Prop. 8 passed. The Supreme Court ignored the people's vote when they made gay marriage legal, and now the people have voted it out again. I don't think it's right for a few liberal judges to ignore the people's voice. And Yes on 8 isn't the only campaign using their kids, I saw a video of No on 8 interviewing people, and those people included elementary-school aged kids. I'm not from California, but I think this issue is important for everyone. So No on 8 is abusing their kids too? LOL

Not allowing two people of the same gender is not only morally wrong, but a direct violation of the First Amendment of the Constitution. Just because some religions are against homosexuality doesn't mean that all religions are. Some don't have any religion at all & it is unfair to impose one's religious views & rules on someone else.

Actually, if that were true, there would have been reported cases of homosexuality being taught in schools, but ever since May of this year, NO cases were reported, so saying that the LGBT community was "educating" kids is completely false.
It's very sad that YES won. Gay marriage is also illegal in Australia, which sucks because I have many perfectly nice gay friends, and it's not fair that I can marry and not them. Anywho, I think this was a very well done video, and very easy to understand.

'Separate but equal' is outdated. We live in a country and era that values equality; it is time that our politics reflect this principle.
In 2000 65%(~4 Million people) of California residents voted to define marriage between a man and a woman. 4 Judges appointed lawyers in 2008 decided to legislated from the bench and change the will of the people. To my understanding they imposed their views on the majority of California by legislating from the bench instead of interpreting what the people wanted. Who then was the one imposing their views on the others? Your right swings your fist, ends where my nose begins.
Its not so much about what the majority wants as that making sure EVERYONE has the same rights. What if the majority wanted everyone who, say, wears glasses outlawed. Sure its what the majority wants but its wrong to ostracise groups of people. Its called tolerance people!

I was just baffled at how behind the times America can be in some places, whereas in others it is leading the world. Even the states that allow it call it 'civil unions'. How pathetic.
Not that Britain's perfect. Gay married couples get the same rights in stuff like mortgages/pensions, but I don't think adoption is legalised.
Luckily I have a limited character count, so this will have to be it on the rambling front.

I think I'm right in saying that gay marriage has been legal in Britain for a few years. I admit we were pretty slow on the uptake (Denmark did about 20 years ago), but compared to America we're extreme liberalists. i think Britain put the laws in place around the same time as New Zealand, Canada and a few American States

Prop. 8 passed. The Supreme Court ignored the people's vote when they made gay marriage legal, and now the people have voted it out again. I don't think it's right for a few liberal judges to ignore the people's voice. And Yes on 8 isn't the only campaign using their kids, I saw a video of No on 8 interviewing people, and those people included elementary-school aged kids. I'm not from California, but I think this issue is important for everyone. So No on 8 is abusing their kids too? LOL

Is it possible that normalcy lies in the union of two opposite sexes? We voted against it again and you still think they will magically make it all better again. NO MEANS NO it will NOT be overruled. The state voted and changed the Constitution. Not allowing two people of the same gender is not only morally wrong, but a direct violation of the First Amendment of the Constitution. One of the main reasons this is illegal in most of the US is because it's considered unreligious. Civil marriages & religious marriages are two different things. Just because some religions are against homosexuality doesn't mean that all religions are. Some don't have any religion at all & it is unfair to impose one's religious views & rules on someone else.

Denying two people marriage because they are different is a form of minority discrimination. It is discouraging diversity, which is one of the Democratic Ideals of our country, something America is supposed to be founded on. ally believe in. Whilst this does not effect me directly and if I were gay i actually could marry here as it was made legal, I'm totally against this way of thinking: that gay people shouldn't have the same rights. The fact that it passed is basically the state condoning and enforcing blinkered prejudice.
And to comments above, it's not about teaching kids to be gay it's more that if the child does turn out to be gay their parents have shown that they won't be accepted and it's wrong if they want to marry.

Actually, if that were true, there would have been reported cases of homosexuality being taught in schools, but ever since May of this year, NO cases were reported, so saying that the LGBT community was "educating" kids is completely false.

In 2000 65%(~4 Million people) of California residents voted to define marriage between a man and a woman. 4 Judges appointed lawyers in 2008 decided to legislated from the bench and change the will of the people. To my understanding they imposed their views on the majority of California by legislating from the bench instead of interpreting what the people wanted. it doesnt affect the people who vote yes on 8 at all, only the gay people who loose their rights, i asked woman who had one of of the signs why she was voting yes, she said, "because its not in the bible"

First off, you can't teach homosexuality as I previously stated. If you really want to believe that it can be done, go to a reputable/legitimate site that says it can be taught.
And if you can only use vulgarity to express yourself I might as well not waste my time with you because you're ignorant.
And no, I'm not gay. You can't tell someone what they know they're not. So please, quit wasting your time proving your ignorance to me. Good day!!!!

VOTE NO ON 8!!!!! people should really be able to be married if they love each other. nothing is wrong with that. people that say yes are obviously not gay (or lesbian). so my question is to them: why do you care?! the sign says "protect marriage". i you vote yes, you are destroying it, not protecting it!!! nobody is trying to ruin your marriage people!
