When I Was A Child I Lived in The House Of Mouse They May Not Have Been My Family But Micky Minny Goofy Donald and Daisy raised me I spent my days frolicking with Simba and Nala in the Pridelands Swimming Underwater with Ariel and listing to Sebastian and His Songs Hanging out with Aladdin and Abu and chilling in Agra bah in the afternoon working in the diamond mines with the seven dwarfs and was out to sleep by the three faires like this comment if you 2 are a child of disney
Silly as this cartoon is, it also reminds me of something I always thought cool: the indians have basically become one of the most popular groups in history, especially with children. You think of all the cool teepees, dances, artstyles, clothes and arts... how many of us as kids went like Michael in Peter Pan, "I'll pretend I'll be an Indian Brave"? ;)
OMG!!!! I have had the song those 3 Indians play on their bows in my head for 20-odd years and I FINALLY FOUND IT AGAIN!!! Oh youtube, what did we ever do without you??? (work, I guess)
I suppose this should be classifed as racist however folks we're missing something important, THEY ARE ALL GOOFY DANG NABIT!!!!!!!!!!! As far as I'm concerned Goofy is his own ethnic group (that is multi-ethnic.)
One way to explain this cartoon to kids is to listen to the narrator and look at how he spells - he's a moron. This is only what he assumed was going on out of his sight, with typical fish-story elaborations of what he claims to have seen and done. Naturally, it's all as accurate as Nebraska bordering Pennsylvania. Kids don't automatically know that a person like this IRL is too stupid to believe; their parents have to teach them.
like theres a lot of racist stuff on here about natives the different tribes, r ways, n8v names, and use gettin killed and no whites r dying, and many more stuff about all the different culture in tirbes
WTF lol i never saw this growin up damn im a Native too fukin walter disney prick lol and i loved watchin these shows too they make fun of all the races too but not thier own like no trailer trash stuff or red neck stuff or wut ever people make fun on whites o well
So, the Indians didn't live in teepees and have Pow wow dances? I happen to live in New mexico and we have a lot of reservations and culture here from the Native Americans. They did battle the -Cowboys- So Disney wasn't being racist. At least he didn't make jokes on how some Indians are drunks and have Alcohol problems, he could've gone there, but didn't.
How about making a cartoon featuring African Americans tied up inside a slave ship, screaming like pigs and the nice white man beating them with a club? Would you have said "well, at least he didn't make jokes on how blacks cannibalize each other and make skull altars"?
One of my professors once said: It's better to keep your mouth shut and let people THINK you are an idiot than to open it and let people KNOW you are one.
I like how you turned what I said into something totally different, the blacks didn't deserve to live that way. But the native americans did live in Tee pees and did have pow wow dances, hell they still have pow wows. =/ So, yeah. Don't try to change what i said into something racist and terrible. Because unless you've seen your state over run with Native americans who are homeless and do have drinking problems, you have no room to talk, I didn't say it to be racist, I was speaking in reality
Please remember that he primary audience of cartoons are children who are susceptible to influences of hidden imagery. It's easy to equivocate stamping kill scores on wagons to fighter pilots painting kill scores on their planes during WWII. There are so many hidden messages in this cartoon which says "White Good. Red Bad". In defense of Disney, this cartoon was made before the civil rights movement when America was overrun with white supremacists and there was no cultural sensitivity
You are right. My comments were extreme, and I apologize for putting you on the spot light. However, please think: What's the difference between saying "Native Americans are homeless, have drinking problems" and "Blacks are lazy and violent"? Propagation of a negative stereotype is worse than racism because most people agree with stereotypes without thinking. And this is why 50 years after the civil rights movement, we are still grappling with racial issues.

Wow, pretty violent for Disney standards. But after all, these cartoons weren't made for children in the first place.

They used the clip at 3:00 in the goofy cartoon How to Dance. This cartoon is awesome.

@Sonix797 actually i think it was the other way around, how to dance was made in 1950 or 1951.

@Sonix797
the indians obviously studied the goofy dance instructions.

It sounds like the near to the end part the song "No One Knows" from Queens Of The Stoneage before the lyrics "Hevean Smiles Above Me".
