Why is this done? I have heard alot recently about poor sound quality of reason's 14:2, and have been advised to rewire into a different DAW. Does using the Record mixer get round this?
@andymc24 There is no actual "sound quality" to the 14-2 mixer, good or bad. It passes the audio through it without coloring it at all. People on our forums have analyzed waveforms on scopes and various ways and have confirmed that there is no alteration to a signal passing through a 14-2 mixer. The reason to reroute into the big mixer in Record is because you want SSL style channel dynamics, master bus compressor, or the much-improved EQ section that's on the large mixer. Thanks for asking!
I WISH i would have seen this video a few months ago for converting important tracks to RECORD...better late than never...THANK YOU JB this RULES !!!!
@JamesBenard is reason the absolute only thing that you're running ? I have recycle, pro tools, record, nero 8, reason 4, along with the regular micro word that comes with it. I have an emu 1820 interface as well. i don't run them all at one time... what should i eliminate ?
@jamesbenard help me with this... i have a dual core cpu.. the highest of the highest in performance. Why can I only get four sounds at the same time to play? I cannot afford to buy a new cpu everytime new software comes out - no offense. I love the software. All i wanna know is... how many cores are you guys running when you do these demonstrations ? We want the exact same performance that you guys achieve. Its the only way our music stands a chance.
Doesn't make sense.. I am using a MacBook Pro Laptop (2.53 Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB RAM) using the internal HD for all audio recording/playback for the demos and screen recording and as my main computer. You do not need a blazing fast computer...
Thank you! That will make me more likely to start using Record instead of moving into Logic when I reach the stage that I want to record live instruments.
i like how clearly you speak :) thanks yo

@JamesBenard ok the cracking sound only occurs when I have 4+ tracks and try to run the 8 band Parallel Eq in the mastering suite. Suggestions ?

What is your exact setup (CPU and OS/RAM)?
