  • Nooo, not the Supox! They hurt the happy plants!

  • special sauce?

  • @wd40isgreat I think 'special sauce' refers to useful biological products needed for their development, rather then just raw component molecules. As the Orz said that leaving 'smooth space' will give more time for current races to produce more 'special sauce'... so I'd assume they mean increase population.

  • "cow" as in cattle or prey?

  • @Terrakinetic In this context, probably more "cattle" rather then prey, as races are being farmed for the 'special sauce'.

  • "No more *smiley time*. Do you agree?"

  • smelling pretty colors is the best game XD

  • "Gotta love me"

  • HOW IS BABBY FORMED

  • We like to *SQUIRT* sometimes.

You know, I like to *SQUIRT* sometimes too.

  • The voice acting of SC2 was 1 billion times better.

  • @yTubeBlowsBigBalls Everything was 1 billion times better.

  • What I always liked most about this is how the Orz just seem to be honestly telling you to your face how much they've been screwing you over and you just don't understand *quite* enough.

  • Now Supox are frumple. No more smiley time, do you agree?

  • So i didnt really understand the mixxed story on these guys?? from SC2 i thought these guys were the eternal ones cos they are from *below* and arilou are from *above*. Are these guys the original physical form of the eternal ones or what??? the ending of this game didnt answer any questions really.

  • They aren't the eternal ones. The orz are tendrils from an exterdimensional entity that threatens the universe and elimanted several species who unintentily stumbled upon the other dimension.

All of the orz are one entity but since it is so weird the humans and other species see the orz as distinct beings.

  • *frumple*...*silly cow* needs more *special sauce*...

  • I only know one thing. 'Dance' means fight in that translation.

  • Reminds me of Mad-Libs...

  • They fought the Supox, and now they regret it I think

  • @TheBlackMage1

Not enough *special sauce* to be happy.

  • Amen!

  • Nooooooooooo the Oooorrrz!!!!

  • *dies laughing*

  • "We Orz have been *smelling* your planet. Orz like the funny *dance* between the *cowboys* and the *sheets*. The *sheets* used the *firecrackers* against the *cowboys*, and then the *cowboys* *played* in the *turf* of the *sheets*. The *cowboys* appeared to *win* the *game* but the *sheets* always come back with more *roadside bombs*. It is too funny!"

  • This is a ridiculous. They actually sounded creepy and kinda cool in SCII. This is just stupid.

  • so the orz killed off the supox?

  • Silly Cow...

Remember how VUX were considered silly cows for asking about the Androsynth?

  • Yeah... Gooood tiiiiimes Goooood tiiiiiimes

  • @Drogmir Oh yeah I remember! I made the mistake of askin about those sumbitches when I played SC2...The screen turned red and they said something like, "This is dancing!!" and the fight was on...Lemme tell ya, Orz Marines do not play around!

  • Dude. After playing SC2 and now this, I ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT THESE CRAZY CRACKERS ARE SAYING!

*Smelling* means to see outside of an individual perception. To witness a conceptual grasp rather than 'sight' 'sound' 'smell' etc. To see a race as a whole of itself and what it represents.

*Slip* means to transdimensionally warp. Hyperspace is like surfing a wave: normal space is like the water below. And Quasi-space (Arilou) and Orz Space are like the sky and ground below the water.

  • Yeah, doesn't make sense for the Orz to be calling the Captain *silly cows* right off the bat, since they clearly wouldn't have come along if he wasn't a *camper*.

  • Say what you will about this game, I LIKE the Orz's visual design here.

  • The Orz weren't half bad in this game, but I think it's weird how at beginning the computer is talking, but the Orz is still moving its mouth. Granted, it did that in Sc2, also.

  • That's easy to explain! The Orz's mouth-movements don't correspond to English, but do correspond to whatever it is saying in its own language before it is translated. *Silly cow*!

  • We can be *special* together. So much enjoyment! But *Nnnnnggggh*! But first, be are *squeezing* the *juice*.

Seriously, the innuendo is killing me.

  • @MMVfan2 It does look rather constipated, come to think of it.

  • @MMVfan2 True. It's reminiscent of Led Zeppelin's *Lemon Song*.

  • This was *silly cows*. The voice is *squirting* with *special sauce*. It's *dancing* like *campers* and *slippery* with *garbage day*.

  • To be honest, I like the SC3 image and voice of the Orz better than the SC2 version. In SC2 the voice actor is doing an impression of a gay person, which is not at all how I imagined it. They don't sound dangerous. The SC3 voice actor gets the right mix of weirdness and slight menace in.

  • This is probably the best voice in SC3...

However, I must disagree with you. The Orz in SC2 do NOT sound gay... There's just something very, very creepy in that androgynous, expressionless voice when it goes on rambling those nonsensical words.

At first, it was funny. Then it was confusing. And finally it was very, very WRONG.

  • *lonely* *juicy* *bubbles*

  • I'd speculate that the Orz are multi-dimensional creatures, whom interact with our 3-dimensional space by reaching one of many tentacles into our world. The Orz body is a glove, or if you'd prefer, a puppet. A liquid environment might match the natural pressure of their dimension.

Never learn too much about the Orz dimension and the technology to reach it. The Orz will smell you and violently pull every one of your species inside. But I'm sure your sentient bubbles will make very tasty juice.

  • I always imagined them to be a single being who can permiate dimensions. The Orz being the puppets it uses to explore/conquer the universe.

Just dont make them *FRUMPLE*, bad times.

  • the story of the guy who learnt of the fate of the androsynth and proceeded to destroy the records lest the same happened to us reminds me of a video clip of radiohead, in which a guy is lying on the floor and telling people he'd rather not tell them why, or the same would happen to them, and by the end of the clip the whole town is lying down with him...

I think that knowledge is like a special direction that if we look towards it, we see the beyond, and the beyond sees us.

  • Betcha I could make the Beyond blink first.

  • So in a manner of speaking "Ignorance is bliss"?

Finding out about the Androsynth would open your perceptions to the larger threat. It's almost like the Cthulu mythos. There are certain things people simply shouldnt know for their own good.

A regular person can go their entire life just fine with NO knowledge of Eldritch gorrors. But one whos curiosity gets the better of them and learns what they shouldnt can open themselves up for a world of misery and hurt.

  • always *jumping in front* *silly cow* you make me so *frumple*

  • I can't tell weather those freaks are funny, stupid, or terrifying.

  • *Nnnrghh!* First we are *squeezing* the *juice* hahaha

  • What happened to "hello extremely?"

I like how the Orz turned out.

  • Star Control 3 is *frumple*

    Incredibly fucking *frumple*

I am *dancing* and enjoying the *sauce* in the Star Control II *playground*

  • Star Control was made by *Silly Cows.* It is no fun due to the *Silly Cows* programming and *Quick Babies* cutting corners. Music also is not *Smooth* and *Bright.* Too much *hurt.* I will go back to *Sad Town* unless fan re-makes SC 3 with *Special Sauce* and more *juice.*

  • *Jumping Peppers!* This is *smiley* time. You are *campers*.

You can *play* with me in Taalo *Playground*. We will have *parties*.

  • I have moved *tent* to Spore. Not as *smooth* and can be *frumpled* *silly* at times, but *special sauce* is also, open ended for *parties.*

  • Yeah, you WOULD want a game with *special sauce* and more *juice*. Pervert.

  • Happy times! The Supox were *frumple* though.

  • The Supox were not *frumple*.

I thought they were fairly *happy*, much like *campers*.

  • So much *juice*! Ngaaaah. You know how I feel about *juice*.

  • *silly* *campers* having many *parties* but not at the *playground*

  • i cant make SC3 work ... can some one help me?

  • Hahaha fuck, I'd forgotten how perfect the *best fits* were voiced in sc3.

  • One of the MAJOR problems with SC3 is that the music is so bland in every instance, and lacks even a fraction of the character that the music in SC2 had.

  • i especially HATE the battle music

why? because SOMETIMES you'd be faced with some battle where you have a slow, powerful ship and the enemy has a quick, weak ship........and the AI decides the best tactic is to run from you endlessly until you get frustrated and throw your computer out the window. i mean, its a good tactic...its pretty much the only way that ship is going to beat mine....

so you have to listen to the music for four hours or so...

  • yeah, kind of like an Arilou Skiff facing a Chmrr Avatar... WOOOOOOOOW! Until now I didn't realize how unbelievably shitty that would be!

  • SC2 Orz are better

  • Damn they sound perverted!

  • Too bad they're actually cosmic horrors.

  • But can we still be *special* together?

  • Or rather eldritch abominations, to use another trope.

  • hehehe

"We can *spit* so we can have fun. We stay *above*"

And nearly every speech option is:

    what?

  • The Orz make me wish I had a pet parrotfish. They're adorable.

  • i cant belive they killed the supox and nothing...but when you defend yourself from the idiotic k'tang they throw you out of the job! stupid league....

  • I must admit, the SC3 version of the Orz seems more believable due to the accenting on the translated parts. In SC2 they just spoke as if it was normal speech instead of 'best fits'.

  • Yeah, I liked how their voice was done in this. The writing was pretty weak, but their voice I think was done pretty well.

  • it actually makes less sense to me, since the translation computer can seamlessly translate voice tones on everything else, I don't see how it'd spazz out on the bestfits.

though it does make the presentation funnier, and show which words are bestfits when you're listening instead of reading.

  • i think it's to do with them being extradimensional beings and probably how the actual meaning of those words doesn't have any specific meaning in english. ergo, you get weird 'best fit' words

plus its a game and it makes it harder for you to tell if they're friend or foe

  • I liked them in Star Control 2 better

"I am *expanding*! It is so mutch *squishy* to *smell* you again!"

  • i think they're trying to say that they want to turn you into some kind of liquid food; which is what they did with other people.

  • They are not they. They are it, and what it wants is worse than that.

  • dude, whoever you are mr. random internet person, you are my hero of the day.

    that comment was classy

  • Yeah, I think all their ramblings about *cows*, *campers*, *juicy*, *slip*, *frumple*, basically at the end of the day means "we're going to fucking kill you".

  • The Orz are evil little shits. They've massacred at least two entire races (assuming the entire Supox population was present when the Oraz *smelled* them) so far.

...sadly, we'll never know what a future game might've had in store for the Orz. :(

  • It wasn't the whole Supox race, but just the contingent that came with everyone else on their way to Kessari Quadrant. So the Supox back in the original quadrant are okay.

    I think.

  • I forgot about that.

But...still. The poor, poor Androsynth. :(

  • Well, they sorta deserved what came to them. Teach them to desire freedom.

  • yeah, that's what i got out of it, too.

still...the orz are totally evil and you find that out later on when they betray you

too bad, i kinda liked using their ships. it took a bit of skill to aim the turret and fly straight but once you got that it was pretty cool :P

the stupid turret made a lot of noise turning though...and wtf...noise in space?

  • Noise is required in a game... or space battles would suck. Hard.

  • i would never protest the removal of sound from a space game to keep it more realistic (besides, now that i think about it the vibrations from the turning turret would vibrate the air inside the ship and create sound)

Anyway, I would still hold that the sound of the turrent turning is really loud and annoying.

  • This is the best ever!!! *extra silly cows*

  • Just looking at it makes me want to punt it like a football. Where's the orz I used to know...

  • Why was the voice acting so much better in SCII :(

Wait SCII was just better as a whole.

  • The SCII voice acting was the most horrible thing I've ever heard in my life.

  • Hear, hear.

  • @ZarlaSheenaza Star Control II is just better for everything. Especially voice acting.

  • @MegaVideoGameMusic Comic Book Guy, is that you?

  • @MarquisdeBarrabas lol, what? Comic book guy?

  • @MarquisdeBarrabas I can't find my comment, what did it say?

  • @ZarlaSheenaza you havent listened to the Beiber

  • @ZarlaSheenaza very wrong...

this is horrible, they all sound like normal yankee people...

  • @ZarlaSheenaza listen to silent hill voice acting - SCII won't seem that bad anymore to you...

  • The original SCII had NO voice acting at all..

The 3DO version had voices, but this was a remake... The voices you hera in Ur-Quan Masters (if you installed and activated them) are from the 3DO version. The voices of the 3DO version are quite unprofessional, most of the voices suck, especially the Orz IMO...

  • I read an interesting interpretation online that the Orz may actually be physical manifestations of one single greater being. They hint at this in their dialog, especially at the end of this clip. They say you think you see Orz, but you're not actually seeing them...you're seeing their "fingers" that reach out through "heavy" space...anyway...an interesting enigma in my opinion... I grew up playing the SC games...very nostalgic! :)

  • These little fish guys always cracked me up. Very well done in my opinion, the concept of the race anyway. Evil sinister aliens who are misunderstood as being "cheerful." I wish they went into more depth about what exactly they did with the Androsynth.

  • okay... Orz killed the Supox. How inconvenient.

  • This video makes me *happy*. I want to *party* with *campers*. No next-gen Star Control makes me *Frumple*.

  • What do you mean, no next-gen Star Control??

    *NNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH* It is *dancing*!

  • LMAO! I agree with sub. They are far more sinister in SCII. This is funny though.

  • I have to agree, too. There was something subtly sinister in the Orz's voice. Something about it and the translation of their message made it analogous to being approached by a deranged stranger in the street who insists on standing a few inches away while rambling nonsensically to you. lol

  • Zarla, could you provide a video of the Orz in SC3 where they get angry? I haven't played SC3, being only familiar with the events and dialoges from SC2, 3DO version. :)

  • Hmm...I could try. I'll have to play a bit more through SC3 to get to that point though.

  • The Orz puppet is done well, but the voice is too silly for them. I remember how creepy sounding they were in SC2, this seems to make them more comical than disturbing.

  • Are you serious? Their voice in SC2 made me want to stab an icepick into my ears, it was so horrible and ooc.

  • they didnt talk in sc2... It was all text

  • Yeah, in the original PC version. They did a version for the 3DO where they ported it and added voices for reasons that I can't understand, because the voices were a complete abomination to everything all good and holy. Don't download or listen to them even out of curiousity, it will hurt you in a deep place and it will never stop.

  • You must be *silly* to think that. Star Control 2 was the best *game* and the *particle vibrations* were also very *good*! You are a very *sad animal* to think that Star Control 3 was *better*, and it makes us *frumple*... Nnnnnnnghhhhhhaah! It is *dancing*!

  • I said the Starcon3 VOICE was better, not anything else cause on the whole Starcon3 was pretty weak. But the Orz voice is pretty awesome in my opinion.

  • that's because the 3D0 was doomed for failure from the very start.
