  • Hmong is the term Mong people would like to be call, Miao is giving to us by chinese, mean Young rice seeds. According to André-Georges Haudricourt research, hmong were the first to have agritculture farming rice our earliest ancestors are the Daxi or Naxi. They're famouse for their farming such as rice Hmong derived from Naxi. We're the young seeds of Naxi. Hmong is a term mean free people only.

  • Ok so a lot of Hmong brothers going to slash at me for making this claim, but here we go. There are also another group of people call "free people" as I mentioned on my first post. The biblical mentioned a group call Hivites aka Horites, according to Sitchin Horites mean "Free People". So how is Horites tie to Hmong, in this case we have to trace Naxi genome where they came from. Which bloodline did our earliest anscestor Naxi bloodline related to. Clue Blond hmong kids.

  • @Opetlao

there is no tie. Hmong does not mean free people. Hmong means "sons of soil."

  • Miao is Hmong, but I just hate the word Miao because it sounds like a crying cat to look for sex at night.

  • Hmong People need to teach the whold world to call us Hmong. Not Miao. I am sure you won't like this name either " Mother Fucker" or if I just named Hmong as "FuckYou"

  • @AumPaim

I love the song, enjoy the show and proud to be Miao, if any Hmong dislike our names leave us alone don't be rude.

  • some one here don't know that miao and hmong is the same, hmong is how we called ourselves, miao is how non hmong called us.just like some hmong in laos and the west don't understand hmong lang and hmong ntsuab, the word lang mean blue in chinese, hmong mean ntsuab.it's still hard for some dumb people to understand or just don't want to understand these simple things, that is same thing with different language.we are classified as miao or miao subgroup.I'm fine with that.proud to be miao.

  • OKAY. First of all, I see all these comments in the defense that Miao is not Hmong. Miao is a Chinese term derived for all the sub-groups within China. So technically, Hmong IS Miao. We are a part of what they call "Miao." Sure we are all different in our own cultures/languages, but to Chinese people, they group us all as Miao. I grew up learning that my grandparents were from China, we're called Miao there, but I do know am 100% Hmong. Everyone needs to stop being prideful. We are all one.

  • I think if they would sing in hmong very good

  • leej twg yog.Miao.

  • @blia95 Miao is the chinese word for hmong. Something like that.

  • Soul-soothing and spirit-lifting song indeed. Her voice is sweeter than the sweetest of water and her beauty is above those of others. It's not fair for one person to have all these talents plus the look while others are ugly and no talents. NOT FAIR.

  • Sysu1 yes and where are your origins lol

  • @changkongher I am from your mother's ass!

  • As we all know Hmong people are miao's and there were even people that lived before the miao's. During the ancient times there were great scholars which were the miao's. Hmong is another way a splittle the true ethnic group even further. The main fact that we need to understand is to "unite" all our people to one. So don't say I'm miao and I'm Hmong we all came from the same ancestry.

    May we live in peace

  • @changkongher Dude, if you live in China you may call yourself Miao. But please do not call those Hmong People, who is not living in China as Miao like you.

  • @uglyestprince69 101...hmong are miao..miao are the hmong's anicent brothers and sisters..similar clothes & culture..a few words still remain the same as miao..different dialect and tones when speaking..kind of like lao and thai...so yes hmong and miao are one..few miao migrate to southeast asia a few hundred years back from war in china

  • @uglyestprince69 watch if you have time to learn that Hmong and Miao are ONE!!!!

copy & paste on youtube search bar...

"Hmong Chinese vs Hmong American Language Difference"

(both understand each other but different dialect and saying for some words)

  • I have seen the Qeej played at various celebration (e.g. Hmong New Year), at a wedding, but as mentioned, majority of the time is at Funeral. I think Hmong originated in China and many traditions and cultural values can still be trace back to the place of origin. However, as Carl Marx theory "evolution" has caused the SEA Hmong to adapt new values and beliefs. I think it's a good idea to research and find out.

  • its strange how hmong chinese uses the bamboo flute and the drum for celebration but southeast asian hmong use them to call the dead correct me if im wrong... i dont know it bothers me

  • totally agree, what can we do to change that. knowing through southeast asia hmong girl can't play Qeej (Lusheng), Nruas (Drum). this is what southeast asia hmong are lacking in opportunity and educational for years. we don't know what cause it and to have so much change in southeast asia era. who can tell us? like PloverWI said. i mean no harm when say this.

  • orrrrr maybe china's gov is using Hmongs/Miao as some sort of tourist attraction, thus Miao girls are playing and they're using the instruments for show whenever and however, THUS IS A BIT BOTHERSOME.

  • hmong's in the sourtheast use the Qeej for the death yes, but they also use it in celebrations too like the Hmong New Year and also are used in Weddings

  • nushelong's right.

We don't just USE it to call the dead..we use it for several reasons. At funerals, we use it to track that person back to where they originated from and where their ancestors are. At weddings, we play it for a sign of celebration. We also use them at new year celebrations and many other things or for entertainment

  • i might visit one day first ill have to learn manderin just in case, or cantonese or both

  • I'm sorry.

But if you want to knoe the difference between hmong and miao.

    WikiPedia is your friend =)

  • I am a Hmong and I see no difference between us and our Ancesters in China. We speak the same language, similar cultures, and as musicals despite all the years we have been seperated due to civil wars and other conflicts. I visited China a few years back and I have learned this. I love China.

  • sorry, I didn't meant to offend you in any way, but wiki is usually not a good source to turn to b/c it can be written by anyone....in addition, I also agree with ploverwi about the similarity despite the separation

  • Oh want to go so bad lol. Home sweet home one day soon I'll be there

  • all the boys are in the armys.......

  • There are all girls, i wonder where are the men?

  • sound good but I just don't understand....are they sing Chinese? Cos Miao & Hmong should speak same and understand each other.

  • Miao and Hmong language are not the same. Hmong is sub name under Miao. The name Miao has many different dialects.

  • I agree with this assessment. Since Miao is influence by Madarin Culture where as us Hmong were influence by Laotians, Vietnamese, English, and others. Many of our Hmong in China who are much more modernized had already assimulated so much into the mass that sometimes it is hard for us to distiquished them.

  • This is in Mandarin

  • What a beautiful song. Thanks for sharing this. It's amazing

  • does anyone know where i can get the song?

  • Does anyone know the word translation to this song? I would like to know what she's singing....

  • You can open for "more info" - there you will find the translation.

  • It's nice to have the English translation, but are the singers singing in Hmong? I like the Hmong word translation if there is.
