I CAN'T believe it's been 20 years! I still remember exactly where I was. We were coming home from an out of town concert and they were playing all this Queen music on the radio and we got worried that might be why and sure enough-he had died.

The entire Innuendo album was made with the knowledge that Freddie doesn't have much time.

The video for the song featured a compilation of clips from all their videos since 1982, in support of the Greatest Hits II album. Due to Mercury's now critically fast fading health, a fresh appearance by the band in a video was not possible.
From then on May finished the lyrics, completed the vocal melody and wrote the bridge, inspired by Pachelbel's Canon. Some keys and ideas were suggested by the producer too. The song chronicles the effort of Mercury continuing to perform despite approaching the end of his life.
"The Show Must Go On" was written primarily by May. The initial idea was a chord sequence Taylor and Deacon were working on. The rhythm of the refrain is similar to the Queen's 1989 song, "I Want It All". May decided to use the sequence, and both he and Mercury decided the theme of the lyrics and wrote the first verse together.

@venusenvy2011 He had known about his aids since 1987. This was recorded 1990. Yeah, he knew. Brian May and the others say that when he recorded this particular song, he could barely walk, and was fragile and weak. The entire Innuendo album was made with the knowledge that Freddie doesn't have much time.

8 people mourn freddie, the rest of us celebrate him as the amazing being he was and what he left was with.
on another note, i personally think this is some of his best vocal work. gives me chills every time i listen to it.

The song was initially not released as a single as part of promotion for the Innuendo album, but was released in October 1991 as the band launched their Greatest Hits II album. The video for the song featured a compilation of clips from all their videos since 1982, in support of the Greatest Hits II album. Due to Mercury's now critically fast fading health, a fresh appearance by the band in a video was not possible.

From then on May finished the lyrics, completed the vocal melody and wrote the bridge, inspired by Pachelbel's Canon. Some keys and ideas were suggested by the producer too. The song chronicles the effort of Mercury continuing to perform despite approaching the end of his life.

"The Show Must Go On" was written primarily by May. The initial idea was a chord sequence Taylor and Deacon were working on. The rhythm of the refrain is similar to the Queen's 1989 song, "I Want It All". May decided to use the sequence, and both he and Mercury decided the theme of the lyrics and wrote the first verse together.

@sashasmail2002 This track was made after Queen & Freddie had stopped all live performances after his illness progressed. It is from the Innuendo album which was their last album together. None of the songs on the Innuendo album were ever performed in front of a live audience.
