  • Whenever people bring up errors or talk about how things could be done better, Plinkett is a character, they do the bad edits and obvious errors for humor.

  • Actually, data doesn't react to Soran for fear, so the subplot isn't so disconnected.

  • That shit with the artifact is priceless.

  • I think this movie was written by a first year writting student. WRITTING IS THE BEST PART TO ANY MOVIE/SHOW/EVEN YOUTUBE VIDEO! DON'T CHEAP OUT ON WRITTERS!

  • a little less sluggsih pronounciation would suite the vids very well.

  • U mad bro?

  • Funniest thing since ali g. Scotty didn't make the whale windows out of transparent aluminum, he just have them the formula in return for 20th century materials

  • You know what amazing about the Nexus concept? It doesn't create any Paradox apparently, but allows you to alter past events. Remember his girl on the horse? Kirk makes it seem like he couldn't touch her, kiss her, etc. None of this is real. Yet, when they go through the Nexus later, they can touch and interact with Soran and alter that event?

  • Plinkett = God

  • 08:47 - I didn't know androids went bald.

  • Data was an Asshole Clown in this movie.

  • you missed that big book, the novel that was always in the ready room, that wasn't at the end of generations either

  • Fuck the movies.

    They suck.

I'm gonna buy a tv show on DVD.

  • I haven't even seen the whole film in a while, but leaving Kirk there, buried under rocks and not given a proper buriel is very stupid and lazy, but how did the Whoopi Golberg character know about NEXUS??

  • Picard breaking the statue never gets old! ^^

  • 05:00 - 06:33... HA HA HA HA HA !!!!!

    Merci !

  • You missed two things.

    1) That "Emergency turbolift" is shown in "Brothers". Data is about to go in it when he terminates life support to the bridge, but stops short. I think it is used in one or two other episodes, but I can't remember.

    2) Trilithium is talked about in "Starship Mine" as a volatile residual bi-product of the Enterprise's engines. That's what those thieves wanted from the engine room. There's never any mention of Romulans involved with that substance.

    Yeah, I'm a nerd. :)

  • @NFITC1

Well... no knowledge is obsolete :D

Remember - all the people calling you a "nerd" for this, are gonna use the information in your comment themselves eventually ;)

  • The cemetric thing that breaks at the very end is priceless.......SO FUNNY!!!!

  • Asshole Clow..

  • "Maybe he was making a Captain's log, ha ha ha."

  • About Picard, he left the boat party before everyone else and probably went off somewhere to cry. Might as well have been the conference room.

  • lol Roots

  • That thing about picard and the door is the funniest thing ever

  • @reszzz no the sound when the ceramic thing breaks is the funniest thing ever

  • Great review!

One other enormous problem is: By stopping the fusion in a star you do not alter it's gravitational impact on anything including the nexus. Even by blowing up the star the combined gravitational effect of the star-bits still remain largely the same. The mass is still there generating gravitation. In order to change the path of the nexus you need to remove the star altogether.

  • This is really great! I agree to you so much and wished, the first movie of the next gen would have had a much better screenplay. It is / was shocking, noone realized all those mistakes in time!!!!!!!!!!!! It was the beginning of the end of the best Star Trek series ever.

  • Thank you for making me laugh my ass off at the pottery-breaking bit. I needed that tonight.

  • all your reviews are amazing, but i find the star trek ones the most impressive. i have no idea how you are able to recall such tiny details and bits of dialogue from episodes of the tv show, but its hella impressive

  • 4:49 If I'm not mistaken, the orange plastic thing is Professor Moriarty.

  • @Dorminay42 Sorry to say you are mistaken. Professor Moriarty is a different, cube-shaped orange plastic thing.

  • Wait a minute...wasn't the ability to stop nuclear reaction in a star, like, a HUGE DEAL in the 27th century? That's why the Vorgons went back in time and bugged Picard when he was trying to read his book about boring British stuff? Why would it have been such a huge deal if the Romulans had developed something that did the exact same thing three hundred years prior?

  • love 1:41 very nice!

  • love 1:43 very nice!

  • 0:10 - Tribbles!

  • I only watched this because of the star wars ones. I'm not a star trek fan, but this reminded me of something.

I haven't seen this movie since I was 13, when my mother took me to see it. She was a drunk, and for some reason she'd decided that I liked Star Trek (she also had a crush on Patrick Stewart). Anyway, the bit where Data starts singing about scanning for iife forms gave my mum an attack of the giggles so bad that she had to leave the theatre.

I hadn't thought about that in years.

  • I have issues with this review. For one: "Captain Kirk is probably the best captain in all of Starfleet history."

Who really wants me to go into that one, when all I can really come back with is one name:

    Sisko.

    Goodnight.

  • @viperhalberd

    Picard. Period.

  • this movie sucked but nowhere as bad as the finla frontier.

  • RedLetterMedia: Very good review, as always. However, I disagree with one thing. You said that there is no turbolift near the observation lounge. That is not true. We can see it in one episode - "The Wounded". O'Brien and two Cardassians walked out the observation lounge and in the end of the corridor was turbolift. So you are wrong that there is any. Of course, it is still a little strange that Picard was there, however he could use the turbolift too.

  • @dkocuj Well done. But this turbolift existing in the observation lounge behind the main bridge turbolift has been a part of the series since the first season. I think "The Wounded" is the only episode where it's actually physically shown onscreen but there's plenty of evidence that it exists in blueprints, scripts and whatever.

  • @viperhalberd Yes, I think they have used this turbolift only one time.

I can see one more error about turbolifts. At 8:10 there is a information that emergency turbolift on the lower right of the bridge was never used. It is also not true. It has been used in "Encounter at Farpoint" - the first episode of TNG. Picard, Data, Yar and Troi used it when they went to the battle bridge.

  • @dkocuj Very true. Correct. Nice job :)

  • Picards photo album stickers were made of neutronium (same as the artifact for surviving such a crash which made it an obvious worthless fake), making it invincible, white people in the future have lazy auto-killshot guns, Picard did save the chair tapestry (which Spot probably pissed on during the crash)

  • @3:50 - YEP that, I fully believe, is the main thing about this movie that left a baadd taste in Star Trek fans' mouth about this movie, #15

  • So like when we die do we go umm to the nexus?

Count me in i'll be the first one to go if that's so. Will Guinan be there?

Does google spell check? I swear it's getting smarter and spelling words for me.

  • Holy s***, LOL.

    Awesome review.

  • (05:17) "Called the...." what?

  • Nice work on the artifact thing. Also, I couldn't believe they buried Kirk under rocks on a random planet. So disrespectful.

  • Artifact in his pants.

  • Is there a Home Depot in here? I can get me a handful of day laborers to hold down Soren.

  • I here light rick rolled music in the background subliminal message?

  • I love sorans KillShot (tm) laser gun. Who made it? Gangsta Incorporated?

  • 0:28 wow, Picard didn't even let him introduce himself to soran :|

  • There was another plot hole with Picard asking Guinan to come back with him. He mentioned to her that Soran was going to destroy a star and that he needed to stop the guy. Now since this was the Guinan from the Enterprise-B on her way passing through the Nexus, she would then be armed with the knowledge of what Soran planned to do over the course of the next 80 years!! She'd be able to stop him once she beamed aboard the Enterprise-B!! What? Did she forget when she got back? LOL!

  • @Elfrunner I always assumed the Guinan in the Nexus was just a projection of Picard's mind. She knewn whatever he knewn.

  • @marcosfenrir

If she had been a figment of Picard's imagination, then she wouldn't have been wearing the exact outfit of when she was aboard the Enterprise-B in the projection. Picard had only recently learned of her presence there. It likely that this was one area Guinan was passing through when she entered the Nexus in 2293. El-Aurians are strange when it comes to perceiving past, present, and future and even alternate timelines, so she could have deduced things about Picard.

  • @marcosfenrir

I think because the Nexus is supposed to be "timeless", he's met her "while she was still there".

But that wouldn't explain her knowledge of having left (or maybe leaving leaves a mark in the Nexus - like, it's timeless, but there's still a clock ticking, saying "this person has no left"), and being on the Enterprise... although Picard said she was. Whatever °_°

  • ha ha ha, I swear those day laborers. Give them a machine gun and send them to the Middle East and they'll do a better job at fighting the insurgents for less pay than the Marines we got coming back bitching about some superficial mental syndrome.

  • Captains log..harharh-

  • what is this episode called, when picard lived his whole live as a old men?

  • The Inner Light, it's one of TNG's best.

  • @miras202

Yes, The Inner Light. Picard was a man named Kamin and lived for decades on a doomed planet before waking back up on the Enterprise. It was a good episode. Deep Space Nine had a similar episode called Hard Time where Chief Miles O'Brien served a simulated 20 year prison sentence in only a few minutes. It was one of the more poignant DS9 episodes.

  • Comment removed

  • I always loved this movie. Now I know just how bad it is. You have warped my fragile little mind! :(

  • I noticed another mistake @9.27 Data's uniform doesn't have a slit at the top. In the next scene @9.30 it does!

  • My interpretation: Picard never left the Nexus. *Everything* that happens after Picard got sucked into the Nexus is just a simulation of his "perfect" life. At first, the Nexus gave him a family - something Picard's life had always lacked, but he finally rejected that notion because his perfect life IS actually being the Captain; just a little more butch (ST8) and with a few more love interests (ST9).

Well, everyone else is dead then, but the ST movies >=7 actually make more sense this way...

  • @polghirstenskoetter <-- This man in a genius

  • "Now we all hate Piccard's photo album."

  • "not some kind of asshole clown-"

ROFL... just so many awesome lines in these reviews, it's hard to keep track :D

  • @RedLetterMedia an embarrassment to humanity INDEED. lmfao 08:25 i hate this..."they also used this same prop... they do that a lot, though."

  • The artifact scene was something I did not know, good spot! But the scandal for me was the Klingon ship exploding the same way as the previous movie. Come on Paramount, what´s up with that?????

  • Interesting reviews. However you forgot to say there were 2 Picards at the end of the movie: One who came back with Kirk, and another one from the past who never entered The Nexus. Whatever happened to that one? We know he gets shot but he cannot die, otherwise he would not get in The Nexus. Oh, and does Sauron also has an echo of the person he was, since he had been there 50 years ago???

  • @Lamy0001 and also, wouldn't Sauron be smart enough to realize that Picard would go back in time and try to stop him.....?

  • Love the smashing sound with the artifact! LMFAO!!!

  • Picard was trying to defeat Sauron? I thought Frodo did that.

  • "Oh SHIT"! Lol! XD

  • captain's log... LOOL!!!!

  • not the first time they reused that kilngon bird of prey stock shot.

  • Actually, I think there is a turbo lift that goes to the conference room. (Oh my god I am such a nerd.)

  • Captains LOG! ROTFLMAO

  • Your reviews are always worth it. Good stuff and a good laugh

  • Rick Berman, Ron Moore and Brannon Braga are reasons this movie SUCKED!!!

Plot holes and utter convenient stupidity rules the day.

    Great Review though!!!!

  • "So maybe Picard was making a Captain's log"... priceless :-))

  • Maybe they were trying to make you think the TNG TV series was better by making such crap movies like this.

Even the TV episode writers pay attention to continuity issues like that artifact.

  • you don't try-lithium......you DO-lithium!!!

  • Yo bro (redlettermedia) cut them a little slack, picard coming from the conference room shouldn't b weird, that room connects to deck2; sometimes i also take the longer way 2 a room even when I fully know their is much better route. Picard was just upset @ the news of the loss of his family.

  • @asuch874 that's a bit of a stretch, remember they got a distress call why would Picard decide to take the longer route? and no one ever did that before

  • @asuch874 i think the point is that the film makers didn't bother to invest much into what was established in the TV series or in the spirit of the whole Star Trek franchise. Sure it's a minor thing to bitch about but it's a symptom of a larger problem as why this movie sucked on so many levels. If it had been a good movie which capture the spirit of the show but old and new then no one would really notice or care but instead it's one flaw of many flaws that sinks the film

  • ionosphere the second highest layer of the atmosphere tends to be ionized and slightly magnitized hence it's name tends to absorb or scatter certian frequencies of radio and permit others is a hassle when using very high or very low frequency radar

p.s. not completely sure if that is the gist of the description i found due to it being tech talk that even i who can understand much about space related words cannot fully decipher

  • 5:15 - 6:32 LOL,that was the best part

  • LOL @ the smashing noises...i love your reviews

  • About Tri-litium. There was an episode of TNG, that talked about tri-lithium as some kind of bi-product of using the warp engines, and they said it is very nuclear and unstable. But, here Worf calls it a nuclear inhibitor. O <-Plot hole.

  • @Hitter84 <- Nerd hole.

  • @dghansen85 Say that to my face and see how much of a nerd I am.

  • @Hitter84 ... Kinda hard to arrange Hitter 84. Calling you a nerd on youtube will have to suffice. Btw, I'm a nerd too. In fact, 100% of the people who've ever watched a 30 minute review on a Star Trek movie is a nerd.

  • @dghansen85 I only watch this review, because the guy who does it is very funny. I mean he asks if there is a home depot in this movie so he can hire a bunch of day laborers to hold him down while I shut off his rocket. And FYI, I only knew about the episode with tri-lithium because, that episode was on tv at the same time I was watching this review.

  • @Zidana123 Thank you very much. Yes, i understand the whole idea of what he says.... but happens that i'm doing a transcript of this video so i was asking for the exact words. If you can provide me this (especially from 06:47 to 06:57) i would appreciate it.

  • I love the backgroundmusic used in these ST videos of yours, RLM,

is it a secret where the tracks are all from?

  • And you know what that spells...

  • DOES it truly take 30 minutes to review this flic..to the original OP...DO U DREAM IN SLOW MOTION ALSO...R u stealing medication out your mom's purse...I bet ur 45 years old and still live at home and still have your room made up like u were in grade school...and probably the cat population is down in your hood...probably making kitty burgers!!!!

  • @UFOSPACE1999

You should check out his ninety minute Star Wars Episode II review.

  • @ShallowBayBandit NO!!!! I don't want to..THIS guy who lives with his mom and masturbates over his 60 size waist is a WASTE of time and energy...WOW..90 minutes to review..and what is fucking sad..INCLUDING ME....WE came to this point and junction...LETS ALL FIND THIS FAT FUCK AND give him a bible..maybe this fat bitch will review that...IT WOULD take this fat fuck...10 years to review it. People in HVTP should never be on the net!!! Happy Valley Trailer Park...REDLETTERMEDIA UR TRASH!!!

  • @UFOSPACE1999 Uhm, Plinkett owns his own house and his mother's been dead for ages. And why would the man have to masturbate when he can just rape the hookers tied up in his shed?

  • @UFOSPACE1999 Actually Plinkett is over 100 years old now, and he can afford his own medication.

He does have a kitty though. He milks it to make his breakfast. Which is pizza rolls.

  • You are better than Andy Rooney! Might have something here! Keep it coming.

  • This was great.

  • Picard could have beamed up both his photo album and the priceless artifact. That wouldn't have been any problem at all. It's not like there wasn't any room left on the U-Haul!

  • @jmuslvr I think that the director didint ever see an episode of star trek and he found that in a storage closet and wanted to use it but i would think that Patrick stewart would say something

  • "He could just not say enough good things about this... this thing... in fact he looked like he was gonna make an artifact in his pants"

    LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAO

  • dude, i agree with most of your criticism of these movies. But, Picard did leave the ship ceremony before everyone else. He was visably shaken after learning about his dead family members. I think you are overdoing it a bit.

  • I am from Salzburg/Austria (Country where Schwarzenegger was born)

and i fucking LOVVVVE your Reviews. PLs keep on going ;))

  • Hahaha, 'that must have been some crash!'

  • At 8:11 when you mention the 3rd turbo lift on the left, they did use that one, at least once, in the first episode "Encounter at Farpoint" when Picard, Troi, Tasha and Data go to the battle bridge.

  • Mostly nitpicking. Some good points but mostly nitpicking.

  • @LinkReborn True, but this is a Star Trek movie. And is anyone in the world more nitpicky than Star Trek fans? It's practically their defining feature.

  • So, here's the question that's been bugging me for 16 years. Given the speed of the Enterprise D's saucer section, and the fact shit burns up in the atmosphere, wouldn't the saucer section's vaporized remains simply plowed a big fucking crater in the ground, after the re-entry had killed the entire crew?

  • @williamskidfears Astronauts have been surviving re-entry for 50-odd years now. Granted, it's a dangerous procedure generally and this one was under emergency conditions, but since we're talking about a universe with Warp drives, I don't think it's a huge stretch.

  • "it's only a matter of time...before the animals get to him"

    LMAO!!!!

  • @Danny77uk You mean the rabid hordes of Trek fans?!

  • @Danny77uk LMFAO!!!!!!! that part is hilarious!

  • They left the rubble of the crashed enterprise in a real hurry,

  • One little question: what does Plinket says at: 02:48 and 06:47? I don't really understand what he means. Thanks in advance.

  • @obueno (2:48) "So it's kind of a question if they're going to put 2 and 2 together, not really how much Geordi knew."

(6:47) "He didn't bother to fuckin' find that" (referring to the flute that Picard played)

  • @obueno At 02:48 Plinkett is talking about how the enterprise crew figured out Sauron's plan without needing Geordi's knowledge of trilithium, and at 06:47 he's referring to the TNG episode The Inner Light, which is an amazing episode that you should really look up : D

  • next gen only had 4 movies, if one of the films had continued from the last like star trek II and III they would have made about 5 or 6

  • hahahaha ROFL at Picard continuously smashing that extremely valuable artifact LOL (with the smashing sound effect ofcourse

  • @KoRnFoReVeR23

And lol about him saying Picard was going to make an "artifact" in his pants over the artifact.

  • @LtSurge659 hahaha this RedLetterMedia movie review dude is just awesome and hilarious! lol...

  • @KoRnFoReVeR23 shiiiiiit who needs this?

  • In the words of confusedmatthew "I want to listen to everything you know about everything I already know"

  • I noticed the conference door thing too! I am such a nerd!

  • its frustrating how much they fucked this movie up. seriously, how the hell was this script approved?

  • The best part of this movie is that Soran's phaser turns over "Gangsta Style" before he busts a cap!

  • You know, data did offer himself up as a hostage. Courage can be an emotion too

  • lol great review but you forgot one plot hole. They say that Soren can't get to the nexus by flying into it with a ship cuz the ship would be destroyed... except... okay but thats how he got there before. And Kirk. And Guignan. And everyone else except picard. Okay the ship would get destroyed but who cares? You wouldnt be on board anymore youd be in the nexus

  • malcolm mcdowell not mcdonald.

  • You're kidding right? You can't tell that it's a joke?

  • @rikatyt Sorry, I thought jokes were supposed to be funny. Plus, there are people ouit there who may go to imdb.com and look up malcolm mcdonald and be sorely disappointed. Just doing my part to redirect misinformation :D

  • @C0wb0yc00l Why does everyone care so much about what Malcolm Mcdowell's name is?

  • The funniest part is when he just dropped that ancient item like it was a piece of trash even though he was nearly worshiping it earlier.

  • @2.24

    Gangsta-sideways, IN SPAAAAAAAAACE!!!!!!

  • You tiny little lifeforms!

  • LMAO. This is some funny shit.

  • Picard is completely retarded. That plot hole made him look worse than kirk. What is he doing commanding a star ship if he is really that stupid? He honestly couldn't have thought of going back a little further? How much LSD did he do? Damn.

  • I think there's a bigger question than why did Soren put a hidden camera in Geordi's visor. Why couldn't Starfleet's leading flagship, which in the past could detect the slightest defect in the time-space continuum and the slightest error in shield or engine configuration not detect something as simple as a hidden camera??

    lol!

  • Picard was looking through his photo album with Troi in his ready-room only moments before the destruction of the Armagosa star.

  • oh fuck - the curlin nescar - toss it aside. its like even patrick stewart had no idea what it was - fuck that was funny. there are so many shitty films - i wish you could make a lot more reviews

  • Ok, RedLetter, did you add that breaking sound when Picard sets down the ceramic artifact thing? I don't remember that from watching the movie.

  • Kirk buried under rocks...lol! That's like going back in time and bringing back Abraham Lincoln to help you. Then he dies and instead of bringing his body back with you, you just leave it under some dirt and say, "Well, thanks for everything", and don't bother to let anyone know about it.

  • Kirk should have gone out at the helm of a ship that's half-destroyed, the bridge on fire, and half the bridge crew dead by ramming it into the ship/starbase/doomsday-machine and taking it out before the enemy destroyed half the galaxy.

Instead he died falling off a bridge on some insignificant planet trying to stop some pensioner from escaping into his happy place

  • ha hahahahahahahahahhaahah men this guy crack me up!!!!!

  • slavery jokes are pure class

  • Data's emotions subplot was the best part of the movie!

  • he broke it hahaha he broke it haha....

  • The whole bit on the artificat was hilarious. I love how you cut off your self when you move from part to part. Hilarious!

  • ha ha ha love your voice.

  • haha.....roots....

  • it always confused me why they complain about data pushing dr crusher into the water, like omg she's a WOMAN you can't do that to a woman in the 24th century

    they're faggots

  • @hisoj I never got that either. Why should it not be okay with Crusher when it was perfectly okay with Worf or Riker or whoever it was that had been pushed into the water before her?

  • @SiriusLumino Silly male! You cannot mistreat a lady! That's sexist and nonchivalric!

  • @brokeanddrive Hey, if women want to be treated equal to men, they've got to take the bad part too, not just the good part. Being male isn't all just privilege, freedom, and getting to boss others around, ya know. It's also being the brunt of cruel jokes and having to put others' demands before yours at times.

    Just my two cents. XD

  • @SiriusLumino Two cents worth more than those of your typical "bu-ut wimmenz r precious and weak don't u DARE look at one crosseyed!!" :)

  • @SiriusLumino You forgot the physical aspect as well. I've met very few of my fellow men who haven't been in their fair share of hand to hand conflicts. It's part of who we are.

  • @Luigi84289 True, true.
