  • haha "EVOLUZIOONE" 1:10

  • the price its ok its a cheap ferrari but i dont have enough money for the maintenance :S

  • A guy I met the other day on a Ducati Superbike 999 iirc, said the bike is a princess, high upkeep, but worth it. The bike sounded like nothing I ever heard before and it was really nice.

  • 1 day on the road and 1 weak in service .....that's ducati

  • Amazing bike,,,but what a boring review! really really boring...

  • too much pop...not professional documentary at all

  • Ducati are the best man I hate those jap fanboys slagging them of thinking there shitty r1 or Suzuki are better when they clearly not

  • @scorezz How many bikes do you have to speak like that?......or you are a italian macarone eater too:))))))))))))with cheez

a day then most see their whole life

  • @dxhumph i completely understand your passion for bike I myself shear the passion you should not argue with broke idiots hence the comment " 02 GMC Sierra Denali and do the oil changes in my garage and not spend $300 dollars at a shop thank you" that cant understand the rush going fast gives you I love my 1198s and my wife just bought a ktm rc8 and she says that bike is the most beautiful thing she ever saw

  • fucking lousy subs.

  • how much is 1.?

  • @ SteveGunn2, that is so funny and true, I cant afford 1198, but I have a 10 year-old 900ss, and it has the same effect, I have used that line too many times.

  • xexe sure but i had CR 250 - NSR 250 - XT SUPERMOTARD- CRF 450 06 - GSXR K6 HOTI TO HOTI ,so i sell the GSXR K6 bifore 5days and i will go this new week for the dream i had ^.^ DUCATI 1198 S REDDD. am a fucking 500hp car turbo racer good boy but this machines are the paradise when u drive

  • have had a 900 ninja back in the day...a ZX-11 which i LOVED!! a yzf1000R1 and now a ducati 1198s...this is my first ducati and it certainly won't be my last...the acceleration is insane and it handles like it is on rails...love the bike and it looks like a work of art moving at 180 mph!! lol

  • If been on my "Home"-track yesterday and beat my selfrecord when suddenly a black arrow came from behind and fucked my ass...

I'm driving an R1-Racing Version but i had no chance against this fucking shit Ducati Racing Version...

So time to save mone and buy one:D

  • I can't wait till I can drive a motorbike when I'm older. :3

  • he said DTS and it's DTC :)

  • Nice bike, rubbish review. I'd like to see more top gear like bike reviews.

  • The only downside to owning one of these is that you become sexually aroused every time you look at it...thus making it uncomfortable to ride.

  • when will there be a ducati superbike with both, traction control and abs?

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • those 1198's sound BEAST

  • The narrator needs to take the microphone out of his mouth.

    Back off the mic!!!

  • Nice bike, why cant the yanks make good performance bikes . . .or cars for arguments sake?

  • Cause they try putting Harley Davidson engines on their sportsbike! WTF is wrong with them!

  • @pantsman29 they can if they wanted to, but they have the wrong people design their bikes. buell's are nice but still most cant stack up with the jap bikes. cars on the other hand, we have recently gotten a lot better in my opinion although im still not a huge fan of american cars.

  • i want one so bad

  • @rayabbas me too but my parents won't let me get one. And I'm 20!!!!!!

  • @MrBobbySasquatch

Sucks doesn't it. I want a bike aswel, but can't afford one, and my parents would not let me eather. say its to dangerous

  • @MrBobbySasquatch

LOL you need to move out on your own then. your parents should not dictate how you live your life when you're 20!

  • is Ducati better than the other Japanese bikes?? am a new biker and mechanical differences don't actually matter to me. I only go with apprearals and sometimes speed and horsepower. but I don't know why. there is something pulling me towards Ducati. I love it

    great vid :)

  • i`ve got a vmax, bimota db7,rsv4 and this one and i got to say that this bike is the best one of those i own!!!

    DUCATI FOR LIFE!!

  • @rama6maiden yeah and my momy got a 3.5 piepsqueeck jet engine fire bike and a vortex 1200 superpack!!! seriously dude, if you talk shit, atleast go all the way

  • hahah i was just kidding mate but im gonna buy a yamaha yz450f next month!!

  • @rama6maiden

I got a YFZ450... so uhm, what does this have to do? you know, i thought we were speaking Ducati wise...

  • I fell in love with the 1198 S. <3

  • i just heard one up close tonight, my uncle bought one, with an after market exhaust on it man amazing sound

  • One word; Sexy.

  • me pregunto si esta moto que tiene un motor 1200cc puede enfrentrase a una hayabusa

    podra hacerle frente?

  • haybusa mata a esta moto

  • duc's are the best hands down. I had an r6 and my friends own a 848 and a 1198s simply amazing machines. as much as i love my r6 id trade her in for a ducati in a heartbeat!

  • Italian's Bikes.. Ducati is the best.

  • Fell in love with Ducati ever since I saw the move "Fled".

  • I fell in love with the stripper in that movie

  • This bike is just like every Italian car: Expensive, Well built, require a lot of maintenance and money to do so, but are entirely worth it if it's in your blood. My blood runs red with Ferrari and my heart beats like a Ducati.

The Jap. bikes are great if you're not trying to be showy or just want a regular performance bike

  • Mentor2506 is exactly right in what he is saying. If you can actually afford to pay for a Ducati which is not so drastically expensive, considering that you are usually only paying a couple of grand more for a much better bike, then it is definitely worth it. There are many great bikes but if I was given £13,000 I would pick the ducati every time. You cannot beat its looks (apart from maybe the MV Agusta F4) and its performance will give you more of a thrill than any of the Japanese bikes!

  • I rode a Ducati for the first time the other day having owned litre class for many years. I was blown away by the low down torque of the twin compared to the inline four bikes and even thought of buying the 749 I test rode. I then rode the 849 and finally the 1198 which I brought. The reason? Jap bikes are amazing they only get exciting in the higher rev range which even in first gear will exceed the max speed limit here. The Ducati is amazing even standing still. Ferrari of motorbikes. I agree!

  • why do they sound so different?

  • the motor is in a L twin not a V trim on OOOO inline 4

  • thnx

  • Ducati's are damn near the best of the best for sport bikes, they don't just roll off an assembly line every 5 minutes. They are better than most any other bikes (GSXR's, CBR's, Ninjas, etc) With 1 downfall. Maintenance, valve adjustments cost way more for the desmodromic, dry clutch doesn't last as long, things like that. I don't count price as a downfall because you wouldnt give a ferrari a bad rating because it costs too much. Every little detail ducati has taken into account with their bikes

  • Striker: True enough, if you're talking about factory race bikes. But when you're talking about bone stock street bikes, the screaming four bangers are faster.

  • ducati's are sweet, but i can't stand the sound of the dry clutch. when idling they sound retarded. zx-10r is better value for money. if you're going to buy an expensive exotic built for racing why not spend 30 grand and get a bmw hp2 sport.

  • Maybe because the hp2 is 130 hp and the 1198 is 170 hp?

  • Lol dude the HP2 is a great bike. But the 1198S would rip it a new one if they were to compete on a race track lol...

  • why would you wanna spend too much money on something like this. i mean the yamaha r1 for example or any 1000cc japanese bikes are already satisfying. besides japanese motorcycles are known for being reliable. i dont know about the ducati.

  • i think there ugly except for the single sided swing arm, that's kool

  • im no expert on bikes.... but just to ask, how much does this bike cost? i want to learn to ride

  • Good 4 you. The Ducati 1198 is the perfect bike to learn the basics of motorcycling. Its a very easy handeling bike with very smooth and forgiving power. In my country the normal 1198 will cost you +/- € 20.000,- In my eyes you cant get a better first bike... (and last one ;-) )

  • around $75,000

  • MSRP on the 1198 is about $16.5k while the S trim (the one in the video) adds an additional 5 grand. If you're getting an 1198, I think the S is money well spent - full Ohlins suspension, lighter weight, and a horsepower boost.

Of course, if you want to learn to ride, ignore all of the above. This is an extremely powerful, purpose-bred race bike - I'm an experienced motorcyclist and would not ride one on the street. You should look at the ninja 250r - cheap, fun, and a great tool to learn on.

  • If you have the money to get a Ducati trust me it would not let you down its a magnificent piece of art. But just waaay to expensive to just dont have the money for one. sticking to the japs...

  • Once Ducatis dcompete on an even playing field then you can say they are best on the track. They have over 15% more displacement but do not make 15% more power or torque. An 848 Ducati will ride slower than a GSXR 750 with the same rider. Same with an R1 V a 1098.

  • But they are individual, beautiful and have character.

The jap bikes are typically a dime a dozen, everyone seems to be on the bang-for-buck train.

With Ducati you are buying into a brand.

  • @dxhumph little secret here... NOBODY GIVES A CRAP. You can buy any of the cheaper bikes and put the money you would spend on the ducati and end up with a much better bike... Yes it has the wheels and the brakes and the suspension but one crash on a ducati and you can buy an R1

  • @TopGearAmerica And you can keep driving your Hyundai Excel and never buy into the Lamborghini world.. because let's face it, afterall it still has four wheels, brakes and suspension. They are obviously just the same thing right?

  • @dxhumph No I'll keep driving my 02 GMC Sierra Denali and do the oil changes in my garage and not spend $300 dollars at a shop thank you... I'm saying that your comment about beauty and character is dumb... its metal and plastic dude... My wife is beautiful my kids are beautiful... If I was given a lamborghini I would sell it and use the money to send my kids to college and pay off my house... Are they cool sure but you are talking about a machine like it was a person and that is dumb

  • @TopGearAmerica Sorry mate, but your family man rhetoric doesn't cut it. My family are beautiful to me also, but to think that they are the only aspects of life that fit the category is ridiculously short sighted. A sunrise is beautiful. A fine piece of art is beautiful. A choir singing is beautiful. - It is all subjective and comes down to individual taste and opinion.

Machinery can be beautiful too. Anyone denying me the right to see it that way is simply ignorant, and likely American ;)

  • @dxhumph sadly only a few american can still see just what makes a ducati special, what makes a lamborghini just brutal, why pagani zonda's are just devilish. and there are sierras trucks and vespas for everyone else.

  • @dxhumph lol epic fail ducatis are italian

  • @belldudes65 Epic fail for your comprehension skills.

    Or lack thereof.

  • @dxhumph I like the style of the duc but you buy ducati's for subjective reasons (looks, "soul", etc), but if you're trying to go fast and not have to wrench on it every other week then you Jap is the way to go. A production jap bike is >>>>>>> italian bike.

  • @dxhumph

I have to agree but sometimes I prefer the reliable Jap bikes.

My MV Agusta gives me the biggest headaches when I want go for a sunday cruise.

Never owned a Ducati but I'm sure it's more reliable than a MV Agusta.

  • @dxhumph "With Ducati you are buying into a brand."

That statement can be viewed as both positively and negatively.

  • @dxhumph..which really makes no sense if ya think about it..I mean if I can get the same performance out(or damn close to) of a bike that is priced a fraction of what one of these are...why wouldn't I? I'm not knocking your comment in anyway, it seems you're spot on with your analysis..I'm just presenting the other side of the argument...actually if I could afford one, my CBR would have already been traded-in. Even though I know my bike would very closely run this bike for all it's worth..weird

  • @dxhumph And that's why I'll take the Aprilia. I don't care about the culture behind the motorcycle I'm buying.

  • @dxhumph What you say is too true!!!love the comment!!!!If I could have a ducati and an aprilia I would!!!!!!!

  • @triumph1974 You are missing one very important fact. The Ducati 848 is compared to 600cc jap bikes and the 1198 is compared to liter bikes. The reason they have more displacement than their competitors is the number of cylinders. Ducati supersports only have two cylinders. It is quite fair to have 20% more displacement if you have 50% fewer cylinders. Get your facts straight before talking down.

  • @HunterPilot24 My facts are straight, DUCATI NEEDS HIGHER DISPLACMENT TO BE COMPETETIVE. They choose to run a twin, they also run an "L" four but it is still higher displacement, so they could compete on an even playing field should they choose to.

I have riden Ducatis and own an R1, what have you riden?

Theya re good looking bikes, dont get me wrong. But........they are inferior to the Japanese or even now German inline fours.........FACT

  • @triumph1974 The bikes that are higher displacement ARE the twins. Ducati makes L twins because they are simply superior to the I4. Inline 4 engines may sound cool at 15k RPM but they don't get torque until they get there. Ducati's ooze torque everywhere. Btw, the only L4 supersport in production by ducati right now is the Desmosedici which if flat out unbeatable on the track.

  • @HunterPilot24 You are clearly some dumbass who has never even owned a Supersport etc, If you think Ducatis "ooze" torque you are retarded, no sport bike does. You just make it clear that you have never riden one but you just listen to all the hype.

Here are the figures for you.

    1999 Ducati 996 makes 93 Nm torque @ 8000 RPM

2000 R1 makes 108 Nm @ 8500 RPM but the R1 has way more power.

    2006 Ducati 999 makes 108 Nm at 8500 RPM

    2006 R1 makes 108 Nm @ 10000 RPM

  • @HunterPilot24 take a look at the figures for the new GSXR or BMW S1000RR also, they both put ducati to shame.

Maybe you should think about not playing computer games and actually get a bike, then you can base an opinion on experience.

  • @triumph1974 I have a CBR600rr. I did ride the new 1198 at a ducati dealer very recently. Euroshop in Waco, Texas. The one I rode was the R model. Now, I have not ridden the newest GSXR or any BMW supersport, but I have ridden a few GSXRs before. The fact that those two bikes may look better on a spec sheet doesn't make them better. Get your head out of the spec sheet and actually ride the bike before you go putting down Ducati.

  • @HunterPilot24 Well so long as you believe your little fantasy that a Ducati dealer let you, a 16 year old, ride off into the sunset on an 1198R. Don't tell me, you put down your piggy bank as a deposit?

Stick to playing Xbox in your Mommy's basement.

  • @triumph1974 First off, I'm not 16. If you didn't notice, my profile doesn't say anything. It only has age because that is manditory. Too many stalkers online no to have really any info online. Euroshop in Waco allows test rides. There are dealers that still do that. I wanted to ride an S but they didn't have one. I'm thinking about getting one some time in the future. It was a test ride. I bet you haven't ever even ridden a duc.. or supersport at all.

  • @triumph1974 I'm sorry, but I think you're the one playing too many games. I've took on people who rode zx12r kawa's, with a fart old duc 900 ss, without a problem. Took on 1liter jap bikes with a 748 easily. Paper figures mean squat. An 150hp ducati, on a track, runs circles around whatever in line 4 jap bike you get. If there's a turn, ducati wins. Period. On a straight line though, not so much. Jap bikes are getting better though, and the difference isn't as noticeable as it was 10 years ago.

  • i would say that 1198 is a powerfull and fast bike ,so to ride one ,you should have some expirience before,or else...you'll get fucked up

  • i have never ridden a Ducati.... but i have ridden r1 and GSXR1000...

how do you compare it do Ducati ?? is it worth paying more for a ducati ?

    let me know . thanks.

  • not really there great bikes

but they are just to exspensive

stick to jap bike there a little

tougher than ducati when you do

    crash

  • It's a lot more power lower in the rev range. It's also very stable, very easy to ride.

  • Crtaus if u wana Lern how 2 ride propely i wold get a Honda or Kawasaki 600 but if u realy want a ducati 848 is the way 2 go cuz I have a k1200s and I tried most 1000cc sports bike on road and on track but when I tried what was a 1098 Wich is less powerful than the 1198 I was realy suprised it's a bike that needs a lot of experience so chose carfuly don't b one of those kids we see on the news dead

  • I've rode 1198s 1098 and 848 and prefered the torquer motor of the larger bikes. The 848 was very fast but needed high revs all the time and overtaking became a pain where the other bikes pulled past easier. The other thing is the 1198 has traction control which could be helpful. I will say to anyone getting one, ride carefully and stick to your limits, Its generally not the bike that is a problem is the rider going beyond their own capabilities.

  • Wow, another lame non-review from Motorcycle USA. I could get the exact info reading the tag in the fucking store. How about what it's like to ride? You know, what you went there to do.

  • the italian style!!!!

  • as homer simpson would say uhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

  • i love the front end on the 1098 1198 and 848 <3

  • People who like stylish clean and beautiful design goes for the soulfull european motorcycles, those who like cartoonish chaotic styling with stupid stickers and stripes go for soulless japanese bikes, sorry japan!

  • 998, 1098, 1198. 1298 for next year?

  • Comment removed

  • i hope finally a 4 valves!

  • i am a very very quick leaner. i have not riden any i mean any motorbike however i have a car license iam 1st month on Ls so have to get 2010 model i am alredy sick of the power of 250 i get up to 180km.h and about 50 around corners so iam doing alright for 1 months riding so i think i might get ducati probly 848 for first year money isnt really a problem exept i dont really wanna spend 100k lol i only earn 45k a year iam 23 and living at home wich is sweet more toys for me lol peace out

  • buy the 848. at your own risk though. dont buy a cheaper slower bike "to practice one" because then you have to sell it and buy another one. buy something you'l keep. however, dont go for the 1000+cc, you'll just kill urself. there is no doubt that 848 is more then enough power, and its a beautiful bike. but beware - maintanence will be expensive.

  • try ridin a 600 supersport for a year you will learn a lot. Then move on to the superbikes. You will need a minimum of a year on supersport to improve your skills to really enjoy that superbike when you buy it .otherwise you could very well end up with some costly repairs after a couple of weeks...that you do not want.. remember master the light weight division first....

  • hey guys iam new to bikes i have had my Ls now for half a month and love the cbr250rr. ive got 12 od months to figure out wich bike iam geting next. would u recomend geting a 848 or 1198 this will be my second bike i have not ridden a supersport or superbike before

  • i would go 848 . i have never ridden one but i dont think they have much horse on a modern r6 for example. i have seen some quarter mile runs in mags and shit and they are very similar to the new inline fours. same with top speed. torque is up but just dont spank it when leaned over all the way. maybe you would get bored with the 600 in a year or so.

i went from r6 to d16rr .... no problems yet

  • i would go for a 1198 and just take it easy the first 6months just to be familiar with the bike and then your free!!

  • i had a 848 it is a great bike you can handle it im sure it has around 132 HP which is more than most 600's but the L-twin motor is great in the turns puts out about 71 ft-lbs of torque it will smoke most 600's on the road the only problem with Ducati's are the fucking Insurance very high and the 1198 is crazy its insureance is higher than the bike payment lol but go with the 848 its insurance is about 1400 a year and it a smooth powered bike great for a transition rider such as yourself

  • if you want to go duc. I'd say go for one of the Monsters. they're cheaper and have less things to replace when fall, which you will do if your new to motorcycles. and get a used one. dont get sucked in to the latest greatest. and insurance on the Monsters are cheaper. My two cent.

  • beautiful bike, man i want one! still like the 998r

  • someone i now has this bike and it is so freaking osome

  • i love how every talks crap, and only defend the bikes they like lol Here... if you want a bike that is smooth inthe corners, but mkaes wide turns, has alot of power and looks great go Ducati.. if you want a bike that is quick out of turns, handles great, and looks good/kinda, with good power, go Yamaha. if you want the best all round and easy to ride, the lightest, and it looks good, go honda. if you wnt a bike to stunt.. go suzuki. I love ducati.. but cant afford it. id go with the R1..

  • Not only mortadella, from Bologna!!! :-)

  • I'd say the RSV1000 looks nicer but the ducati has more puch, however if it was between 1198 and RSV4 I think I'd have to get the V4

  • my absolute favorite off all times!!

    sry 1098r

  • the best looking motorbike...and i supose that is the fastest to...

  • somebody tell this narrator to back off the mic a little bit. if i wanted to listen to some dudes heavy panting and breathing i would be at some OTHER internet sites. Super gay.

  • Tip: dont buy this is u r not expert on morcycles.....seriously.

  • Dude, your right! That is why you should leave the Ducatis to the real riders. You know, the ones that know how to ride.

  • dude you not even know what you talking about, went you have a chance to rode a ducati you going to see the different.mindwill shut up!!!!

  • "dude" all i have to say is...you can`t beat me and my Zx-14 with any ducati.(maybe with stoner`s ducati only).

  • @stefanDMS

Maybe in a straight line. A Duke Superbike would eat it around a track.

  • ok ok...whatever...

  • ur retarded, ducati's are some of the most advanced bikes made, and the 1198 R probably makes more hp than your zx-14 anyway

  • @ upperman 242, what did you say? the zx-14 has 200 hp......ducatis have no more than 170.....

do you own one? ofcorse no, because its too much of hp for you.....go ride your ducatis and shut up.

  • Their is no 1198R its a 1098R and it doesn't make more power then the ZX-14

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • i meant the Desmosedici RR made the same or more hp than the zx-14

  • Stefane upravu si.. ducati is overrated.. the yamaha r1 will crush any ducati

  • I could smoke an r1 on a s4rs, or even a hypermotard. It isn't all about the top end seed, handling is where ducatis glow. But hey speed is all the jap bike riders seem to care about even if they never see any where the top limit of their bikes. O ANY DUCATI how about a desmoedici, 200 hp, 377 pounds .hmmmmm i think your r1 just got smoked

  • WHO WON MOTO GP???

    OHH YAMAHA R1!!!!!

  • I hope that you know the difference between SBK and MOTO GP?

There are no r1's in the motogp...

    Anyway...

Yamaha r1 is a brilliant bike but the 1198 also.

Every brand or bike have their strong points like ducati's handling....

  • Rossi did. Rider wins, not the bike. Rossi would win on whatever he is riding. Plus, it's the M1, not the R1.

  • No Valentino Rossi won it!!!!

The new yamaha is just using new technology for the road. Watch all the others follow suit shortly. Lets hope ducati don't decide to bring out a desmosedici firing version of the yamaha with desmo's and silly rev ceiling. Bikes are so close today that it really is mostly the rider and riding style that makes the difference. The trouble in moto gp for Ducati is putting all their extra power to use, they keep trying and when they get it right they will be untouchable

  • LoL Moto Gp are Prototyps. There isnt a

R1. The R1 drives in SBK ( SBK is near streetlegal ) And hoe often Yamaha was SBK Champion ????

    LOL 21 Championships :

    Ducati 13x

All other Jap crap togethter : 8x

    OHHHHH

    muhahaha

  • They dont race R1 s in the MotoGP, they are all prototype race bikes.

  • Oh im not too familiar with MotoGP only watched a few times.

Yamaha's are the best for me though.

  • pozdravljam srpskog brata.....svi su experti na youtube...postujem r1 iz srca.pozdrav iz makedonije.

  • kalo eine ala poli akribo

  • thats an awesome piece of art !!!

  • 170cv sur 1 bicylindre sa doit mechament souffler ...

  • motinha

  • cheater motor

  • you say cheater motor and i was thinking honda must be building a 1200 twin rc if they change rules you just change with it, start building 1000's that rev like moto gp and clean house that would be awsome!

  • lol thats funny but dont Ducati bike parts like side pannel or other parts cost more oney than suzuki or yamaha or honda or is it all the same cause i really wanna get this bike but im scare the parts will be to expensive

  • all bike plastics are extremely expensive, not sure what the cost is for the duc, but my 10yr old tlr side panels are like $500(or more depending where you buy) so simple solution to high cost plastics DONT WRECK :P

  • Say it with me.. Testastretta Ev-o-Loot-Zee-oo-Nay

  • that's a hot bike!!

  • can some one explain to me the purpose of the 1048 when there is already a 1098?

  • he said 848 not 1048!!

  • ducatis r the v8 of the motorbike world

  • that doesn't make any sense at all mate. The 1198 uses a twin L, so it hasn't got any relation to a V8 whatsoever.

  • im talking bout the sound
