@Americathehope The Continental services to/from Guam has really great and unique dishes. We're considered international even if we fly Guam-Hawaii despite it between two US airports, so the food is free! Now if I get on a flight from Hawaii to mainland airport, well that's a different story....

@demarcjw Nope. Flew Northwest from HNL-SFO in 2008, bought a little snack box for $5. Continental around that time, after you flew to CA started charging for food on US domestic flights. Drinks are still free.

Large fleet with some aging planes, lots of employees globally, and the economy has made it necessary for the airlines to charge for things like food or extra legroom.
