  • too weak.

One interpretation might be- health care reform means get your community to throw a party for you, because Washington will never do it. Way too weak a message.

  • It's an excellent Video! Too bad obama is so weak. To bad the democrats are weak and the republicans are still running the show. God bless You and Your Entire family You Are Blessed. Love you work Love!!!! You are Right On! Government however is dead wrong!

  • anyone else have the swine flu? Damn, I am so bored ive been surfin youtube all day

  • Vague, undifined we know people want change, We need to see the people actually suffering and the turning point when they decide we need Single payer haealthcare and we need it now. Urgency.

  • Hey, I've got news for you, that's EXACTLY how you solve your problem. It's been going on for decades through churches and friends and family. What Obama is trying to do is come you all of our houses with a gun and steal our money and give it to you. That's not how we do it in America, that's how they do it in North Korea, Russia, China. Maybe you should move there.

  • @FairMindedWatcher Er, no. National health provision is what they do in countries like Canada, France, Germany, UK, Denmark, Sweden, New Zealand, Australia, Belgium, Holland ... i.e. every other civlised country in the world. They interestingly tend to spend less on health care and have longer life expectancy.

  • OMG, Your wife sing "Home again, home again, jiggidy jig" to Errol I thought my mom was the only one...

Though these days may be a trial, your reward will be in heaven.

  • ok .. like 6 of 20 .. I'm for helping all living human beings in Utopia .. but reminded of litter of kittens .. momma will push out the disabled into heaven quick

  • So true... Just ask Robert Reich: "We're going to have to, if you're very old, we're not going to give you all that technology and all those drugs for the last couple of years of your life to keep you maybe going for another couple of months. It's too expensive...so we're going to let you die."

  • quirky .. this just aired on PBS .. "Get Off Your Knees" see on YouTube: ?v=FwRkZqKObVw

  • This is to the point. It takes the public good caring about individuals for any of us to survive. We are all in this together. Why are people so hateful that they cannot abide the concept of a collective compassion? And do they really think they are going to live their lives immune from skyrocketing health care costs? Who is going to pay for the insurance companies to make a profit when they are forced to treat pre-existing conditions? WE ALL ARE. Public option is our only hope of

  • Why not put Charity before government? Something does need to change, but this is NOT it!

  • There is charity, but just like the for-profit health system, it's not getting the job done. That is when government is needed.

  • You need government to wipe your behind, too?

  • No. See that is something I can do myself. I could also pay someone to do it and they'd do a reasonable job, I imagine. Government is needed for things that individuals CAN'T do and the private sector WON'T do. Defense or preserving land (National & State Parks). Health care is also one of those type of things. The private sector has had 250 years to perfect health care. It has failed.

    So anyway, want a job?

  • Borrow Money, Foreign Commerce, Naturalization, Mint Money, Punish Counterfitters, Post Offices & Roads, Promote Science, Establish Courts, Fight Piracy, Declare War, Fund the Army, Fund the Navy, Oversee the Military Bases, Execute the, Laws of the Union, Provide the Structure for the Military, Negotiate with States for Needed Land, Make Laws to Execute the Foregoing Powers.

    THE END!

    Healthcare? NOT THERE!

  • Okay, so let's assume your list is the limit of government (which it is not). So the private sector is ideal for coming up with the best and cheapest health care system? So give us a figure. How much longer do you need? Another 250 years?

  • Only in government programs is there waste that would kill any free enterprise entity. NY has a $15bil deficit, yet medical fraud in the state of NY was ESTIMATED to be +/- $15bil! If they would eliminate the fraud, NY would be in the black. Gov't has no motivation to investigate fraud, since the budgets are based on prior spending. The taxpayer pays heavily for this neglect. Private companies have a vested interest in keeping fraud in check, since it adversely affects their bottom line.

  • You didn't answer the question, which is typical of objectivists. Don't address the issue; divert with something unrelated. Besides, you are connecting unrelated facts: NY's deficit and NY's medical fraud. So answer the question: How long will it be before the magic free market fixes health care?

  • Suddenly, the Dems have "identified" hundreds of billions of dollars in fraud. Why is now the conveniently the correct time to address it? Why not during the decades the fraud has been perpetrated? So, yes, those statements are totally relevant. You just weren't smart enough to put 2 and 2 together. I'd give it 2 -4 years once the Democrats get out of bed with the Trial Lawyers and back common sense Tort Reform. Add Intrastate Competition, Eliminate Cost Shifting, and allow equal tax treatment.

  • Ah! Tactic number two of an objectivist with no valid argument: ad hominem insults. Sorry. I mistook you for someone who wanted to have a grown up debate. I see you own the debating skills of an 8 year-old like the bulk of your ilk. Good day.

  • You can't be the sharpest tool in the shed if you couldn't put that one in perspective. I'm just sayin...

  • Oh and by the way, this is the limit of power and authority given to the FEDERAL government. All else is left to the states and the individual. Ya might wanna read your Constitution.

  • Oh, I'm familiar with the Constitution. You are paraphrasing from Section 8 of Article 1. However, you OMITTED the part about providing for the general welfare of the United States. What do you think that might entail? Health care for citizens? A citizen's health is certainly part of their general welfare.

  • With respect to the two words "general welfare," I have always regarded them as qualified by the detail of powers connected with them. To take them in a literal and unlimited sense would be a metamorphosis of the Constitution into a character which there is a host of proofs was not contemplated by its creators..."

  • If the words obtained so readily a place in the "Articles of Confederation," and received so little notice in their admission into the present Constitution, and retained for so long a time a silent place in both, the fairest explanation is, that the words, in the alternative of meaning nothing or meaning everything, had the former meaning taken for granted. - letter to James Robertson from James Madison

  • So then Government should be responsible for feeding us AND wiping our behinds...After all it's all for the "general welfare" of the people!

  • If you don't have any friends to lean on there are charrities (a lot of them are those evil churchs you libs hate so much) that people give to with out even knowing who they are helping (not by gun point) we also have government programs in place that they can use. Let the American people take care of their own problems thats what makes us great. Government runs everything into the ground.

  • I missed anything about a gun. And I've never met a liberal that hates churches and their charities.

  • your story is great until you say we should be force by gunpoint to pay for others. People comming together to "DONATE BY CHOICE" is what is great about this country. You took care of your propblem in the American way good job, but you should stop pushing this on others.

  • You are exactly right. Charity stops being charity the moment it is mandated.

This story exactly contradicts what the government is saying; communities should stick together. Can you imagine the friendships and community bonds that would not be formed if not for people going through hard times together?

  • That's ridiculous. People shouldn't have health care so that communities can have bake sales and get to know one another?! Weak.

  • Sigh. No no no no no.

All I am saying is it is the responsibility of the community to care for each other, and that it is interesting that this group uses the example of people being able to survive without government intervention to prove that we need government intervention.

  • A story that should resonate on every level, right, left, independent, whatever etc.. Common sense in 30 seconds and it's real.

  • Very powerful argument for health care reform. Yes we can.

  • This is reality --captured well in < 30 seconds!
