The Cardinal explained his words in an interview on CNN, that "his take on the word apocalyptic is different from common Western references to the end of the world," that it means "resistance to what he calls the divine and natural laws on reproduction and the preservation of human life." Also, the Cardinal is identifying with the words of Christ in Gethsemane: "Let this chalice pass from me. But not my will, buy yours be done."
