Even during the recession people turn out for the big stars, but who in full possession of their wits would brave the cold to see Mary Wilson singing Diana Ross' songs, even when the tickets are only a bargain bucket £30.
From the little I have read The Chi-lites just about stopped the whole thing from being a complete waste of money and time.

@TWTR4EVER What I meant to say is that even though the girls/Mary did sing lead sometimes (PRE-success), she was not the LEAD singer of that group, & doing that time THOSE SONGS (w/FLO/MARY on lead) did not make a DENT in the charts. Diana made the first hits w/When the Lovelight..& Where did our love go. Then the writers/Berry/Smokey realized that the Supremes could SELL & had to package the group. Ross had the COMMERCIAL POP TALENT so they lowered her keys a little & the REST was history.

Early on Berry saw that with Diana ‘s VOICE used in the right way the Supremes could SELL BIG & they did. So that relationship was later on. Yet, from a business decision Berry got it right.In te 60’s Berry changed all of his group acts to a lead singer. Why do U only focus on the Supremes

@TWTR4EVER Gauge success not by a moment in time for a Legend is timeless.Look at it in terms of other countries as well the tours,movies,etc.A career consists of many things.Today artist success does not take away from a pioneer, Diana.People do not displace love because of something else.Everybody has their day in the sun.Motown writers/Berry took an interest in Diana 4 she had a versatile voice & appeal whereas Flo did not.Then Diana went on to become one of the most successful artist.

When they become of age they can disaffirm it (invalidate).I understand that they were all young so none of them got a good contract early on.That’s my point. Berry did everything for self.
