The California farmers are not the only one who are crying about the low price of milk. They leave more than half the milk in the udder. The only way to milk the cows fully is to milk them every six hours. They do not know why some cows hoard as much as 75% of the milk. It has to do with a hormone that is necessary for the release of milk from the udder. Some cows produce very little of this hormone. So u've to milk them more often to get thye cows to produce more of this hormone.

If people are against Dairy and Cattle farming, all farmers should stop producing for consumers, even then consumers will come to know the value and the difficulties of farming that the farmers face.
It's because no smart consumer wants your unhealthy and cruel products! There currently is another herd "retirement" --- Hundreds of thousands of young healthy mother cows are sent to slaughter to keep the prices up... The government buys the "excess" glut and feeds it to the poor --- No intelligent person consumes dairy - Cow's milk is meant to feed calves - Wean yourself.
In many countries farmers are allowed to form 'milk boards' were they basically agree to fix the minimum price at a level where they can all break even, ensuring dairy farmers are able to avoid market changes.
This works great as if they still have to actually SELL the milk themselves - so if too much is made or if its way overpriced the farmers will get hurt with gallons of unsold milk.
It pains you to see your cows go? Are you keeping your cow pregnant? What do you do with them when they can't produce anymore? What do you do with the male calves that are born? Or a female calf that probably can't produce?
Where are all the baby cows from the mama cows that are producing all this milk for the dairy farmers?

Did it ever occur to these farmers to grow their own feed?Cows belong in a pasture,not in a feedlot.
