Yea, Ruutu was going for a clean hit. Kovalchuk was just being a pussy and evading the hit. But also, look at 0:15. Doesn't it look like Ruutu isn't paying attention until he's just about to hit him? He was going for the clean hit no doubt. He can't really stop himself when he's a few inches away from hitting him. Kovanlchuk saw it coming and stuck his leg out further anyways. Yes, he was trying to evade, but he didn't have to push off like that. He could have done a smaller push off.
