When you want to use VTSi instruments not supplied with Cubase, like the one shown in this video, where do you put them so that they will be seen and recognized by Cubase? I tried adding some TAL VSTis to the Cubase directory. Cubase could then see those that are purely effects, reverb, etc., but not the TAL-UNO62 synth which is what I really want to use. How do you get Cubase to recognize a new VST?
After several headaches, hours of lost time, and what I suspect is a developing ulcer, I broke down and sought outside help setting this program up. Your video has saved me an immense amount of further discomfort. Many thanks!
i am really confused with the vst intrument layout ???? For example in this video u added an instrument track nd u add a vst with it, but whats the difference between this method u showed nd going on the Vst INtruments panel ?? r they two different things
@PaulNicholas2010 You could possibly use the MIdi to USB cable to record MIDI events from the DP into Cubase. But if you want to record the audio itself, yes, you'll need an audio interface. For a laptop, look at something USB2, maybe by M-Audio?
is there a 'piano roll' function in cubase and can you lay your patterns out in 'song mode'?, why does cubase have to be so complicated. ive got cubase 5 but i always find i go back to fl studio purely for ease of use.. idiot-proof workflow.
can you create patterns and if so how, i mean how can you lay your electronic riffs and beats into a song. do you have to record live then drag and drop your audio clip into the main song window. im no novice when it comes to producing but this program...
when i use my vst synths, i will change the settings on the synth to get a different sound, but when i play them back, it always goes back to the default sound. how do i fix this? thanks.
@roger09doger it depends what version of Cubase you have, in my experience demo versions of Cubase are shit and tedius unless it's SE which has the same engine as SX. If it's a full version of Cubase then yes that's better than fl studio and easier to use once you know your way round, but for people who can't afford a full version of Cubase it's good to have cheeper apps that allow use of vsts.
because of this video, you are a god.

I am totally new to this recording stuff....I'm having trouble at the moment, basically this is where I am...
I have Cubase 5.1
I have a Yahama YDP-101 Digital Piano
I have a laptop
I have a Midi to USB cable...
So my question is how to I get to record with Cubase? Am I missing something? do I need an audio interface?
Thanks for any help!
