u can actually play with a lot more freedom when you have next to no health because a) the pressure is off you, no one expects you to come back, and b) the other guy will either play very safe because he doesnt want to throw the game away, allowing you more space and time or c) very rash and dangerously as he desperately tries to chip the last of your health away. it was actually c) that allowed daigo to pull off so many combos near the end of that third round
