  • i had a sudden urge to listen to this song... it was a good choice

george harrison, i love you <3

  • Production skills of Geoff Emerick carefully crafted the Beatles' guitar sounds by using techniques that were prohibited by EMI's strict recording policies. Notice the alternative mix of the guiitar solo with cowbell as the song fades out and portions of it are used backwards from McCartney's tape loops in "Tomorrow Never Knows". The album Revolver was a studio album that was impossible for the Beatles to perform live and was the testing waters for "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band".

  • Paul McCartney's wonderful handling of lead guitar using his Epiphone Casino into a Vox 7120 hybrid amp on George Harrison's wonderfully written composition "Taxman" from the album "Revolver". McCartney's bass line here has been copied from everyone from the Jam to Beck.

  • @ArcedSwordMovies Just re-read your comment and you're right. Paul was intent on making it a single and wanted the others on board, but it was John who backed out as he thought the song was shite!!

  • @ArcedSwordMovies Actually George and Ringo did appear on 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer'. John was the only one absent as he said he wanted no part in Paul's "granny music".

  • BAAAATMAAAAAN! jaajja, Love the beatles! ♥

  • Should 25% appear too small, Be thankful I don't take it all...

  • @Helmut83 Actually, the reason John wasn't on the 'Here Comes The Sun' sessions was because he and Yoko were recovering from injuries sustained in a car crash in Scotland. He missed a few of the Abbey Road sessions as they were recovering. Just so you know...

  • @leesyloo131 Except for Maxwell's Silver Hammer in which Paul was the only one who wanted to record it, therefore convincing George and Ringo and John not going at all because he stated he didn't like the song

  • The Jam copied this riff in 'Start!'

  • ((ºJº)) John Lennon 1940 - ∞

  • in 2012 this song should be called 'tekstman'

    if you take a walk

    ill tekst your feet

  • such a strange, unpredictable solo!

    such a f*cking great song!!

  • Part 3 - by Henry Gibson WOW ! RINGO PLAYS DRUMS IN BOTH SPEAKERS WOW ! LETS PUT HIM IN STEREO, FAT BASS ON BOTH SIDE ! IT WOULD BE COOL !! YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE OLD MIXES !!! DON:T WORRY THERE NOT GOING AWAY !

IT WOULD BE WICKED TO HAVE A MODERN MIX WITH THE SAME SOUNDS THE BEATLES CREATED, JUST A BETTER STEREO IMAGE !

Thank You, Lets have it ALL, Cheers ! John always wanted to remix the stereo stuff in a # of interviews.Rock On !

  • Part 2 - ! But this STEREO PANNING IS RETARDED !!! The BAND IS PLAYING ALL ON LEFT SIDE ?? THE MONO IS BETTER, MORE HEAVY BASS AND DRUMS, WOW ! ON BOTH SPEAKERS !!! PLEASE LETS HAVE A RE - MIX !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT WILL BE FUN !!!

  • Such a Great Song written by George Harrison, With a Fantastic Way a head of his time Lead Guitar Solo by Paul McCartney, I mean who had a Solo as Fast, wicked, raunchy, with a stinging sound as this Guitar at this time ?? do you think Jimi Hendrix Heard this !! Why sure !!! This is a year before Hendrix !

  • Great riff and wild solo by Paul

  • I think it's definitely a song against too high taxes. Like those we pay here in Italy, for instance.

  • 9 people haven't payed their taxes :]

  • :::::::Art Of Music:::::::

  • Rickenbaker guitar.....Perfect.Atack!

  • EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @VoodatheJuggalo I think this song was probably meant to provoke political discussion ...

  • You are missing two things

    1. The cool guitar riff

    And 2. The MUSIC

Remastered my arse! The original is the best and will never be replaced x

  • @BethB357 thats a bass riff mate

  • stereo remaster my ass! make the guitar rift sound in both sides of the speakers dammit! >:(

  • A guitarra do John é prá ouvir batendo punheta....Baita som legal do caralhooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • @carango59 Aliás,toda intrumentação e vozes...Perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @carango59 The guitars were played by George and Paul on this song.

  • @Helmut83 Yes your right george plays the bass and because george count dont figuar out a lead paul took over and did a great job, this was the beginning of george hatin on paul. Did i spell that right? lol

  • @SuperFirewire1 Was George really annoyed about that? It wasn't Paul's fault being so talented. He was the best singer of the band, the best bassist, the best guitarist, the best drummer (this said by John), the best piano player and the best songwriter.

  • @Helmut83 yes he was he was embaressed thats why, i read it in that book "Here there and everywhere" but i knew long before that book, george and john always felt that way about paul if paul did something great, i think thats why through out the years alot of beatles fans just thought paul was too ego'd out. George has a hard time adapting to the newer music as a lead guitar player- he came from the 50's playing carl perkins and buddy holly style.

  • @SuperFirewire1 Think about it? George harrison played lead guitar 1950's style "carl perkins & buddy holly" then the 1060's comes along and now he has to play lead guitar over jazz chords in maccartney songs and so on, he didnt know the scales to them it was hard. In the song michelle he didnt know what to play over the chords that's why george martin wrote that lead. When the beatles wrote songs with just three easy chords then he could do it.

  • @SuperFirewire1 George harrison took sitar lessons in 1966 and without playing live he just got worst on 6 string guitar. paul didnt like to have george play on songs no more"that made the friendship harsh!! In 1968 george took lessons from clapton "they hung out alot and eric showed george the blues scale and pentatonic scales and george got better" listin to let it be album you see george playin better in rovk songs "one after 909" and such

  • @SuperFirewire1 But at the end George managed to master the "newer music" way of playing, proof of that is the amazing performance he had throughout the whole "Abbey Road" album, where his lead guitar playing is awesome.

  • @SuperFirewire1 Very true, you seem to know much about the Beatles. Yes I agree about that of the Paul's ego thing, I think it was more all about John and George being jealous because Paul's songs were just superbe. If you take a look at the recording sessions you will see that in the last years Paul always played in the other's song and it was John who cared only about his songs and very often didn't help in the other's songs (like Here comes the sun).

  • @Helmut83 What you said is true ans not true, john did help he wrote half of taxman, and when george never gave credit "i me mine book" john would get mad "Baby stuff really right"? I think john had it out for paul because paul wrote alof of the hits and sgt peppers was pauls baby. George on the other hand had it out for paul - he was just better at guitar and piano, i bet paul was no angle too- he stepped on toes too.

  • @SuperFirewire1 After all the interviews of all the beatles over the years and all george martin said and all the "insiders" who knew the beatles well said i think i have figured the beatles out. They all seem to be ok people, john could be a hard ass, paul could be too pushy, george was the little brother that when john and paul did something better it made him feel mad and ringo was by far the most normal one of all.Hell, jerry garcia once pushed phil lesh down steps one time when he got mad!

  • Amazing song!!!!! ♥♥ I love The Beatles!!!!

  • man...that bass line...

  • awesome drums

  • banging tune man!!

  • @GrumpyPancake My my aren'y we "grumpy", I think it's time for you to listen to "Taxman" all day at very loud volume while being bitch slapped mercilessly by the entire personnel at your local tax department and then a firensic audit of.........your ass of course. None of that made any sense at all. I did like the ass part though, you've got to admit it was a bit funny. No? Okay, I'll go away now. But it was sort of funny - in a way. Never mind.

  • @GrumpyPancake well you know, that's just like your opinion man.

  • paul played the solo *_*

  • @theFLIGHT84 Lol - no he didn't.

  • @Jay435 yes, he did.

  • @Jay435 go to google, to wikipedia before you talk ;)

  • @theFLIGHT84 Wow you're right! I never knew that!!!! (*_*)

  • @Jay435 :)

  • R.I.P. George :(

  • Anyone who argues that this is not the best rock band ever needs a lobotomy but quick!

  • @goldenhopper Nope, it was The Monkees.

  • @Jay435 LOL! Well done!

  • R.I.P. GEORGE HARRISON :( 10 YEARS LATER, WE STILL MISS YOU.

  • @1962drob 80 years later when im about to die ill say; ill be with you in a minute goerge:)

  • This was the Beatles way of saying they were taxed too much and didnt like being punished for their success. They hated the scourge of socialism and saw it for the evil that it is and were saying they dont wanna pay for everybody else's free ride on the governments dime,,,which THEY were financing. cant blame them really!

  • 2:24 BAAATMAAAAAN!

  • 1,2,3,4.

    *cough*

    1,2...

  • Paul played the guitar solo. But George wrote the solo.

  • One of the 10 best Beatles' songs. A fabulous piece of work.

  • 7 people get taxed...

  • Hello you all!

Some old hippies here hear "should five percent..." as "shit"... :(

    Which one is correct?!....

    All the best

    Jukka

  • Hello you all!

I find this song as a hard.rock version of reggae!

    All the best

    Jukka

  • @jrahde I love my Reggae, but this was before that. ;)

  • it sounds like the batman theme

  • @RollOverBeethoven63 I agree. Still not sure which was 1st, they were both released the same year.

  • @jonesrebel i was like hey that sounds familiar..... BATMAN!!!!!

  • I bet no one knows that at a certain part they're singing out Paul, listen closely.

  • @ForTheBeatles4 at what part of the song? Like the time?

  • Does anyone know that they're shoutingvout Paul? Listen closely to this imporyant clue.

  • Can we all shut up about the stupid politics and just listen to this wonderful music?

  • Am i missing the sign that says 'Political Arguements Here!' or something? This isn't the time or place to be argueing about politics. This is the place to listen to listen great music, nothing more, nothing less.

  • LOVE stevie ray vaughan's version of this

  • then stop with all the damn immigration. we dont have enough jobs to support 19 kids and counting and illegal mexican immigrants. why dont you mexicans go to china now there doing well over there.

  • @royalnaz1 You say that now, but in the future you're gonna need all the illegal Mexican immigrants you can lay your hands on to keep the economy moving. In 30 years time, there will be 15 million less people in the workforce than there is today. The number of people between the ages of 18-64 is dwindling, whereas the number of people who will be over the age of 65 will double in 30 years time.

  • @royalnaz1 So then whereas the US population will increase in total by 30%, the number of people aged 18-64 will increase by only 18%, but those aged 65 and over will increase by 118%, which means the increase in number of people who will be retired will be bigger than the number of people actually retired at the moment, so there will be a huge gap in the workforce. And this is because the US's birth rate is decreasing. These people will put great economic pressure on social services

  • So to introduce a one child policy for the US as you suggest, would be economically crazy for the future

  • fuck the gov't. they need to make some real changes in this country. the only way they will be on top again past china is to make big changes like china. starting with baby laws like china did.

  • I still think they say Batman.... I'm serious.

  • The Jam didn't rip anything off. It's a homage. They were paying a tribute to one of their influencers. There are plenty of other artists who also made direct Beatles references like this - you just need to listen out for them.

  • Is it true that in this particular song,PAUL PLAYS THE SOLO RIFF, AND JOHN PLAYS THE WHOLE BASS LINE OF THE SONG??

  • @circlemaker Paul plays the solo and bass, George plays the main guitar riff, John does Rhythm guitar.

  • A band named The Jam ripped this riff off and called the song "Start". Taxman was a great tune.

  • Why are we arguing about the Beatles? All about that four letter word, love.

  • Anyone else think of jerry jackson when they hear this?

"ello i am da taxman and i av come 2 take da tax monie off u. o noe i cannot get 2 ur door cuz der is a chocolat man in da way."

  • should be in 360p

  • Because george is the taxman,... thats why. Trolls, george is going to find you.

  • Golliwogg APPROVES of this song.

  • stop arguing about politics, all it is is a wonderful song

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY "REVOLVER"!!!

  • Shut up with the political crap, this a damn Beatles song!

  • @VoodatheJuggalo The song is a damn political song.

  • @31415equalspi Yeah, it even mentions some names of British politicians....

  • @shaind Mr Wilson and Mr Heath were both Prime Ministers in the 60's.

  • @31415equalspi as political as it can be for 4 rich kids having their money taken off them.. this song is about the super tax they were paying on their earnings

  • @TghIII i don't care what the heck in politics its about its just that @VoodatheJuggalo said this wasn't a political song even though it obviously is

  • @31415equalspi Yes, finally I feel the plight of the poor oppressed millionaire rockstar.

  • @31415equalspi it relly isnt its stating that everything was being outrageously taxed

like food, oil, inported goods. etc.

  • We all pay in the end due in products and service! No one at the top of the food chain will take a hit,the buck stops with you and me.

  • Food that you prepare yourself still isn't taxed in Nevada. Knock on wood.

  • 1:13 <3

  • This is their best song. I also like The Ballad Of John And Yoko.

  • Sweet bass line, Paul McCartney are one of my favorite bass players of rock.

  • @MartyWilson100 He was my bass teacher....by way of listening to their albums of course :D

  • It may be a 2009 remaster, but you are a shite sound engineer, sounds awful!

  • fuck the government. taxing everything

cigarettes, milk, YOU NAME IT. THEY COULD ALL SUCK MY D........K

  • you just got revolver. geeez how old are you

  • Hard to believe such a peaceful, happy person like George could write a song about...a villain.

  • I got this album just today :D :D :D :D :D I"M SO EXCITED!!!!!

  • The riff was also ripped off by Paul Weller for ' Start'

  • At the end of the song opinion by Kurt cobain he says "don't you think that song sounds like taxman"

  • Just paid my tax for an UK Visa. Now I understand what George was talking about.

  • 2 people weren't able to pay their taxes...

  • Happy Tax Day 2011

  • Nothing really changes, does it?

LOVE TAXMAN brings great memories to me..

  • THE BEATLES/Taxman

    ジョージの曲がA面トップなのだ。

  • george sounds a lot like john...

  • Why does this song remind me of David Cameron?

  • @DMPFace That comment was about as pointless as your obvious sad lonely life.

  • AAAAAAGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! Youtube changed the description/liking system again!!!!!!!!

  • manfred..i know what u mean. it took all their different personalities to make it work I guess. Paul was definitely a perfectionist, and wanted to put his stamp on everything. I'm sure it started to rub people the wrong way after awhile. BUT..they needed that at the time of Hey Jude..and beyond coz John wasn't bringing much to the table anymore. I'm a Paul fan, and George wasn't perfect. I love the bass on Something. Even as slow love song, I thought the active bass kept it from being too simple

  • In my opinion, I think George harrison wrote some of the Beatles' best songs.

  • @iamtheicekid my opinion too

  • Love that bass line! <3

  • better than jb

  • Just wanted to dedicate this song to the clowns in Illinois government (I live in Chicago), 75% increase in income taxes.

  • NOBAMA (lol, that's what my friend calls him)

  • This is America's themes song for real!!!! in NYC Bloomberg is trying to find out how to tax us for every little thing..

  • This is America's themes song for real!!!! in NYC Bloomberg is trying to find out how to tax us for every little thing..

  • @datshim528 You got that right. He'll be taxing us for going to the bathroom next.

  • I heard that George wrote the guitar solo, but when it came time to record it, Paul was the one who actually played it.

  • Recorded at half speed it was too. according to EMI sound engineer Geoff Emreik.

  • John Winston Ono Lennon

    October / 9 / 1940 - December / 8 / 1980

    May He Rest In Peace

  • OBAMA!!

  • @captainkill1 ha ha ha! You got that right!

  • MCCARTNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • george <3

  • It is Paul, he is a madly gifted guitarist.

  • MORAISITO karina, ametista, luzes - the best...

  • Paul plays bass and also does the lead guitar solo

  • @darius595 no, the guitar solo is george....

  • @TheLeolpz

er, no it fucking is not. It's Paul. FACT.

  • @TheLeolpz It was Paul. George did rhythm, while Paul helped him out on the solo.

  • @Hadouken741 George didn't need help from paul....I suppose then Paul had to help him in every song....still no proof of this claim.

  • @2emeraldeyes Actually Lennon helped with the lyrics as well, nothing against George, he was lead guitarist for the Beatles for christsakes and wrote some great tunes by himself let alone music and lead guitar parts and solos. "All things must pass" is epic.

  • @TheLeolpz its paul

  • Use of the V#9 chord two years before Purple Haze or Foxy Lady.

Although the Boys had used the chord two years earlier (1964) at the climax of "You Can't Do That". (Because I told you before)

It was the tax man taking 95% that made the Boys form Apple Records, whose expenditures were all tax deductible.

The reason we're all now in cubicles rather than private offices is because of the lowering of the corporate tax rate.

    Think about it.

  • Well he should be knocking on my door soon,Better call Roni Deucht??? LOL!!

  • that words in that song r so true its not even funny

  • george was the most giving soul....paul had an idea for solo...and he said...ok...go ahead it's yours.... that was the way he was...we miss you george..

  • @briboy16 Agreed. Even though I'm not a fan of their music, I have a huge respect and admiration for George Harrison. RIP.

  • @briboy16 Yeah, perhaps, but he didn't take it too well when Paul told him he wasn't interested in George playing answering guitar phrases on Hey Jude, and he was highly critical of Paul's bass playing on 'Something'

  • @Gyphia

    No lie there.

  • The cough makes the song.. ie: excuse me what is FEE for?

  • @time2act1, Could you please explain this question (and the "cough" comment)?

  • America's new theme song

  • @SarahConnorRocks Yes, because the anti-Wall Street, anti-upper class America is taxing them up to 95%... &_&

  • @SarahConnorRocks hahhaha whats that suppose to mean jk jk :D

  • @SarahConnorRocks

    And Poland's as well! :(

  • @SarahConnorRocks lol they should replace "The Star Spangled Banner" with "Taxman"

  • @SarahConnorRocks This song is prophetic - the Taxmans name is Obama! They forgot to write the verse that he won't take no for an answer!

  • @1NationUnder1God3in1 your taxes are lower under President Obama. Get the facts. It's NOT hard to do

  • @kell4809 By the way if you are so up on the facts (ha ha ha) where have you been for these last few weeks on the debt ceiling issue? Do you know what that is? The "FACTS" are that the Obama and the dems tried to raise our taxes....If it hadn't been for the repubs fighting the tax increase that Obama was whining for, our taxes would have gone up...under Obama!! Wake up drone! Get the FACTS it's NOT hard to do!! ha ha ha!!!!!!!

  • @kell4809 HA HA HA!!!! Are you talking about Obama's facts or the true facts?! FYI the taxes are not lower but have remained the same only because of the extension of the Bush tax cuts, (no I'm not a fan of Bush either, it's just the "facts") and Obama has tried to end those tax cuts time and again. When Obama talks about increasing revenue, what do you think he means?! That means raising taxes, your brilliance.

  • @1NationUnder1God3in1 You are aware of the fact that both Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr have said they are big fans of Obama? Is there any doubt that if John Lennon and George Harrison were alive today they would also support Obama? Get your facts about the Beatles straight. They, all four of them, were extremely liberal. More conservative crap trying to co-opt someone to fit their message.

  • @lennonfn2010

John Lennon was not a Democrat/Liberal. So get your facts straight. If he were alive today, he would be considered a Liberatarian. He had a more conservative side as he matured. But, for the most part 0 - he hated politics, just wanted peace!

  • @bgva5197 John didn't hate!

  • @bgva5197 Yes, but what does it have to do with this song? It was written by George Harrison.
