  • he talks too much and likes butt. to adjust the coccyx you have to stink your finger in the anus and adjust.... such complicated words confuse the average person.

  • i play football, and everytime i right my Right foot and tense up for a shoot,, my tail bone absolutly kills!!

  • i FUCKED UP my tailbone biking, the pain went away after about 4 or 5 mths, but there are akward bumps were my tailbone is.. what could it be, did i break it?

  • my tailbone does not flex and pushes up on my spine and hurts like hell at my t9 compression fracture. i had 2 manual tailbone internal adjustments and it laid me out flat for 5-6 days, i am at the end of my rope with this problem as i cannot sit even with huge amounts of narcotic's,,,now what?

  • erik dalton videos are where its at (music-wise)

  • shes dead

  • had a bicycle accident flew into a cars windsheld hit my coccyx its been bent left out of alignment for 40 years never a sitting on it problem until a year ago losing weight

    in the buttox exposing more coccyx with weight loss. While sitting on stone slab for an hour started the pain. Wont go away , always sit on inflated donut cushion

    when not using it, pain will return. Have part of the bone removed , or will some deep massage adjustment re-align this tailbone for good ????

  • @barymire Yes my end bone on the coccyx is disocated, not sure when it happened but pain came after losing weight 9 months ago.

  • Thankyou for this wonderful video with heaps of useful information. Had a fall years ago, landed along my tailbone turns out I had ruptured multiple discs higer up, fractured something and unfortunatly 'lodged' my tailbone. Sitting was awful no one took me seriously apart from the physios who could not get it to move. Got dismissed by doctors as a joke - turned out the connective tissue was so damaged had tail bone removed now sorted wish I had seen this video earlier.

  • I have coccyx pain since yesterday due to a 10 min bicycling on a stationary bicycle exercise machine at the gym...I took one Naproxen 500 and will take one more later tonight..Pleae advise the next course of action..I have the smae symptons you talk about like pain while getting up and pain while sitting. I'm on the bed lying on my back and hoping to find some answers. I'm 28 years old Male .

  • Sometimes it cracks on its own while I'm walking. Why does this happen? How can I make it go away?

  • When I was 14 my cousin stepped on my back so it can crack. She stepped on my lower back and my tail bone cracked for the first time. It didn't hurt, it felt good. Now sometimes when I sit down for a long time and I try to walk my lower back and thigh starts to hurt. It's like a sharp pain and it won't go away until I crack my tail bone. I simply crack it back laying on back (on the floor) and then it will just crack on its own, or if I stand up, put my hands behind my back and lean back.

  • What is a DC? I get ROLFER, and PT.

  • @chilloften doctor of chiropractic :)

  • Dr. Dalton, I love your videos and read anything I can get my hands on relating to your work in the massage industry. I am an LMT. I suffer from Coccydynia. There are few local practioners that I have not seen myself. I have just receved my first cortisone shot and will likely have to undergo micro-surgery to deaden the nerve. I have an LMT willing to try this technique. Are there any immediate dangers? The sensitivity is excruciating so I'm not sure she can cause more pain at this point.

  • Doc, at the end of the video you state if the coccyx is exquisitely tender, there;s a problem there....I cannot stand the pain from a rectal examination as it increases substantially, and can last for weeks.... the only way to make the pain subside somewhat is with indomethacin suppository, however any sitting longer than a few minutes causes extreme pain which then ricochets up my spine to my broken t9 vertebrae (compression fracture), ant ideas?

  • at the end of the video, you say if the coccyx is exquisitely tender....there;s a problem there...

    you hit the nail on the proverbial head as i am very tender and a rectal examination produces ++++++++++++++pain when the coccyx is touched.

    I can`t get any help whatsoever in Canada as no one has any experience with these tailbone issues, after 4 years of sufferinig I want an end to this...PAIN;

  • Very interesting video, very informative, can i book an appointment to come and see you for treatment? It makes no sense to me to keep going to people that don't understand coccydynia or tailbone trauma. Why is it when workers comp gets involved you're called a malingering faker? My cat scan and mri are said to be normal although it states I have a normal anomally or it could be from an old injury?

    well I sure as hell didn't have this problem before I slipped and fell from 12'.

  • @BRUCEJUNKER

    Bruce... not sure where you are... I have a very full, 2 years booked schedule. I would suggest that you find a good certified advanced Rolfer, a DC or a PT familiar with this problem. It is a very unique issue that needs a specialist that knows what they are doing. Ask a lot of questions before booking the appt. Good luck finding someone.. It is a very painful, real, and as you are finding out... misunderstood problem.

  • Bruce... Not sure where you are located, I am booked solid for the next 2 years. I would suggest that you find a good Rolfer, DO or PT. Ask a lot of questions. This is a unique, very painful and often misunderstood problem. Hope you can find someone to help you. Thank you for your interest... Erik

  • Hi there~ I've been having SO much pain in the tailbone region...getting out of my car seat I'm nearly in tears and it takes me a long time to get both feet to the ground to step out. I've talked to my dr's and they shrug their shoulders. I've narrowed it down to certain chairs and positions... I'm not THAT old! 50! and I loyally practice yoga and cardio. Any insights? I've had no trauma and it's been going on for about 6 months.

  • @205centerygirl understand this pain by visiting coccyx DOT org

  • hey i have my tailbone hurting me if i move in a certain position how do i know if its broken or not do to skateboarding injury falling on my butt............do i need to see a chiropractor or something?

  • Hi, i'm 18 this year; and my coccyx bends to the right, which I think is because I sit with right leg up on the chair; which amounts all the weight to the left side of my coccyx; thus making it bend to the right. However, it is not causing any pain at all... I just want to know if there're ways I could make it straight(normal) again, without going through painful processes?

  • Great...how would one ajust the sphenoid bone if it's determined to be the cause of coccyx dysfunction?

  • Thanks. My wifes in agony so I'm telling her to see a doctor.

  • oh god I have this right now and it's PAINFUL

  • OH OH, Doc, my coccyx is now hypersensitive, can I please have a chiropractor phone you so you can describe to him how to help me, I am willing to send you money for the call and the time it will take you to explain how to help me, I have been on oxycontin which isn't working anymore, now they have changed my prescription to a fentanyl patch, first 25 mgs, did nothing, next 50 mgs, still no relief, now am on 100 mgs fentanyl patch which is giving some relief, but an still suffering horribly.

  • It´s very good for my Technical English classes. Thanks a lot

  • 2004 had severe fall, workers comp became involved as was a work injury;

    everything was denied and I was "STARVED BACK TO WORK WITH MULTIPLE FRACTURES OF SPINE UNDIAGNOSED''

    my fractured spine t9 collapsed and I was again denied any medical help due to workers comp fraudulently administering my injury claim;

    my physician stated that my tailbone was fractured, however W's Comp disputed the claim and denied any treatment for injury;

    6 yrs have passed and last week was diagnosed with coccydynia

  • You need to find a chiro or DO who can correct that motion-restricted coccyx. Often, it's a quick fix. Call the office of a few that have been recommended to you and ask if they have success treating coccydynia. Good luck my friend....it's a miserable condition to have for that long.

  • I had a shot of cortisone under fluroscopy and the ortho specialist states that I have a fracture of the coccyx, he thinks its united, however he wrote it has a bony protuberance, WHY wouldn't this show abnormality under MRI? is the bony protuberance possible a BONE SPUR that has developed from the constant aggravation due to sitting and working in pain while the coccyx injury was trying to heal ? I will phone around and try to find someone who does as you state.

  • You've probably fractured your pubococcyxageal joint and now have osteoarthritis. Pretty common coccyx dysfunction and can be painful since this joint is designed to flex when pressure is applied, i.e., sitting. I doubt if you have a large bony spur and that's why it wasn't mentioned in your MRI.

    My suggestion is the same as in the rest of this thread...seek out a good Certified Advanced Rolfer, DC, PT, or DO who has experience working with coccyx dysfunction...best of luck....ERIK

  • so if one were to release the coccyx, then should one also release myofascial restrictions at the sphenobasilar junction using craniosacral techniques per Upledger?

  • Good question. I always check the sphenobasilar junction when doing neck work and particularly in those with a known hooked coccyx problem. There are some simple cranial releases for a torsioned sphenobasilar but I find them short-lived if the coccyx problem is not corrected too.

  • i notice u dont even wear gloves.

  • No, but DOs & DCs who perform inter-anal coccyx releases should. Recall, I state that this technique must always be performed through a drape or as shown in the video (clothes on).

    This is NOT an inter-anal release. We are simply releasing fibrotic sacrotuberous, sacrospinous and sacrococcygeal ligaments to encourage proper coccyx alignment. Always describe what you're about to do and ask the client's permission.

    Thx for the clarification ~ ERIK

  • um having tailbone pain for 2 days so far not a big badly pain but it bothers thou

  • You're probably OK...if it persists, locate a good Rolfer, DC, DO or PT familiar with this correction.

  • @ETV101 did you fix it? im in pain 3 and a half days now...
