WOW this has always been my favorite segment of Aria. The outrageous Derek Jarman came up with something so tender and romantic makes on believe in love again. Plus seeing Tilda Swinton at her loveliest!
I just bought the dvd Aria and watched this segment. It was very moving and beautiful with Price singing my favorite aria. Great cinematography. I hope that the rest of the film is as good as this selection.
My favorite for a decade already. Unreal!!

According to the producer of "Aria", Don Boyd, this was Derek saying good-bye. By the time of making the film Derek had been diagnosed HIV positive.
This makes the film all the more poignant.
Beautifully put together. Apparently he took a long time collecting the material, following Tilda Swinton around for months.
One of the most moving films I have seen in a while.

I rather liked the film ("Aria"), and Derek Jarman's segment is on of the best in it.
Very beautiful, melancholic, and touching.

Best segment in the whole picture. Jarman was a director with true artistic vision and I became a fan of his and Tilda Swinton's after viewing this.

It is Price.

I think maybe the singer is Leontyne Price.

One of my favorite arias!
The rest of the movie was crap, but this segment is wonderful. It was directed by Derek Jarman, with Tilda Swinton as the flashback girl.
