  • You would think all these hermits are studying the bible together... Cause every word they said is what I practice. The true Orthodox Christian is the correct teaching for Earth.

  • maybe anachoretism clings very much to inner but -we must confess- as well outer

    poverty.

Rich countries are in this perspective very dangerous

  • is he speaking romanian? such a pretty language.

  • This is pretty amazing. The ranger at the beginning is struggling to explain something so complex, beyond his understanding, beyond anyone's understanding. Even the monks cannot say what this is about, except in the simplest aspects of it.

  • ??? I have never enjoyed living in the world ??? wiat what..... he was just talking about how awesome it was walking around on a ridgline with bread in his mouth like a cigarette

  • @dnallor24 what he meant by "this world" is the everyday, hustle and bustle of worldly life. In other words, materialism. Consuming your days by walking along the ridge of a mountain with a loaf of bread in your mouth while praying unceasingly is UTTERLY not of this world. He is on higher plane of existence, my friend. :)

  • @manamongstruins thank you :)

  • i thought only prohpets could talk to god and after jesus came there were no phropets so how do these people say that the hermits talk to god? this is an honest question don't take it as a put down please

  • @dnallor24 According to the New Testament, there are still prophets, because one of the gifts of the Spirit is prophecy. Also, Jesus gives us the ability to talk to God directly through him. Jesus is our mediator to God. This is why He died for our sins, so that we can approach God and call Him Father. Hope this helps

  • @ILoveYourUsername thank you so much i've been waiting for ever for somebody to answer that question.

  • I give respect to all religions, race and gender and i know this really has nothing to do with the topic of this video just i wish some times we could do away with all the weapons nuclear power and bombs the hate regrets and just realize if you peel back the skin we are all the same again My names layton and i give my love to all and to all in this world.

  • Long time ago i ,watched this video.Since then ,every year a wtch it again and amaze me the same as the first time. The man is kind and humble,he really found the essence of true life and with his few words he's trying to explain to us.Amazing video, great and wise man

  • The World cannot move forward nor backwards except through the annointed one.

  • We can see the effect the anchorites have had on this ranger through their prayers. Truly, as St. Seraphim of Sarov said, acquire the Spirit of Peace, and a thousand around you will be saved.

  • the whole world would be Christian if there were more such people as this humble, kind, monk.

  • This man speaks from the soul. He has the one virtue that so many lack--humility.

  • What a hard life.

  • What has super man got to do with this?

  • @chunkyfecalbreakfast

That's not superman... that's "sub pamant" in Romanian... "sub" = under and "pamant" = ground

    :)

  • @PLeranth lol thanks, was joking but good to have an explanation too :)

  • I'm atheist but this,THIS is a true Christian.

He seems like a pretty cool guy.

Well anyway, keep on livin' keep on believin'

  • He couldn't be more precise with that windmill analogy.

  • May God strengthen and bless these people. They are rarity in today’s world.

  • im muslim....but i wish all christians were like this man.....unfortunately europe is no longer christian but is becoming a godless secular society.......i hope men like him increase

  • @Dangermouse6340 Religion is poison you brainwashed christ monkey.

  • @billj500 suck on a dick!!

  • @Dangermouse6340 smell my ass, faggot.

  • @billj500 you are mean and speak of things you dont understand..

  • @Dangermouse6340 Very godlike reply. Typical hypocritical christ monkey.

  • I am from the U.S. and I can tell you this man is a modern day Saint!!! The words he speaks are wise, from the heart, from the Spirit ...he his like a modern day Desert father like the Philokalia authors. Here in the U.S. you will almost never find such a being maybe 1 in 10 million. Because of the great schism of 1054, the West god indoctrinated into literalism and dogma minus the Spirit

  • Some people talk of what they learn but hermits talk of what they expertise

  • glad to hear someone has goodwill

  • God has polished this man into a fine mirror of His glory.

  • when you are alone, you ARE in good company. people do suck!

  • @atfatw some do suck.you suck,like a vortex of stupidity

  • @lovethemac, well, well, the immature punk! like some unwanted ghost your kind can be counted on to haunt any decent or profound site so you can poop out of your so called brain any nasty worthless nonsense that a pyschotic like you thinks is

worthy, good or profound. what a terrible shame you are!

  • You need to have a very good knowledge of Romanian language to fully "feel" the language and the hidden meanings of the words and the particularities, accents, use of old words, so on ....

It's difficult to translate but is a good thing that this was translated!

  • A Spirit in a human shell. This man has lived the highest octave. Humility, humility, and more humility. This video is more worthy than the range of spiritual publications written in an octave less than this. This is an important video, very much so. Thankyou.

  • that way of living should be revealed to more people. Love is the hardest but easiest thing to do in this world. But for being Love you have to love yourself and u have to love your enemies, everything in fact. Because everything is God. And your ego is just an illusion, the biggest enny of your soul. Anyway, this video is full of acknowledgments and very very interesting.

  • I do not believe I have ever heard more loving, truthful words come out of anyone's mouth before. I was not aware people like that really existed..

  • This is my kind of living.. simple simple simple...

  • A wonderfully moving video. This man speaks the truth of his heart. Bless him.

The message is simple, it is we who make it complicated.

  • for 786muslimgirl:

Jesus was not simply a prophet, He was God and man in the same time, and Allah is the name of the most important demon from the preislamic paganism. Mohammed made the "only true god", from that pagan god. Allah was a pagan god before Mohammed and it is a pagan god now. But he is "the only" in muslim paganism. He has nothing to do with the true God reveletated in christianity.

  • If you appreciate this, you may be drawn to The Philokalia, Vol.1-4. , a collection of ancient writings from the Desert Fathers of early Christianity and those who lived on Mt. Athos. Incredible writings about the progress of the soul in Christian spirituality.

  • Soul AND body are sanctified together in our ancient Orthodox Faith. I would not recommend the Philokalia to non-Orthodox who live outside the Grace-filled Mysteries (esp. Holy Eucharist). We all must beware of Gnostic ("evil body") influences in Evragios. The source of evil, as the Lord tells us is "the heart". By the way, not all monks are "elders"; some are just "elderly". We pray for the gift of "discernment of spirits" - from the Holy Spirit which we ask for humbly from Christ our God.

  • very wise old man god bless us all.

  • god is always talking to us directly. its what we need to do to listen and hear that takes much learning and purification.

  • Amen.

  • You should use the term of God in arabic, not Allah. Allah is the name of a deity, a demon that had existed long before Muhammad made the "only true God" from him. Before Islam, Allah was the main god of arabic paganism. He had the same role as Zeus at old greeks or Odin at old germans. Allah is a pagan name.

  • septuagint9

did jesus not say Eli Eli lama sabachtani... all of the prophets worshipped god= allah..... like abraham, jesus, moses.....muhammad pbuh came wit the same massage there is only ONE god

  • Allahu Akbar. Pure truth in his words, love and kindness. chessed is the foundation and starting point of the world and yet there are people who devote their lives to evil and lie, murder, steal, torment and torture little kids and say they are goddessess and then insist that they were only suffering from post partum psychosis when it is discovered that they are guilty of infanticide.

  • Dont come to Christian clips saying Allahu Akbar......its insulting...

  • how do you think christian arabs refer to God

  • I know, but I dont really care... Its not the same God you are refering to,its the God that ask of you to go to Jihad.... Just go away..

  • God commanded the children of israel to fight the pagan nations in the time of moses and the judgest etc. holy war againt the infidel goyim child sacrfice pagans. have you seen the "story of ruth" movie on utube? it's a great film

  • God reasons are His own. He came and told us not to kill anymore. Until He orders us something else, that's what we're supposed to obey - "Thou shall not kill!"

  • Allah is God in Islam not Christianity what the hell....

  • true that.

  • Allahu Akbar means God is great. Our Arabic brothers, who are Orthodox Christians, also use Allah for God. Iorixis said nothing offensive, let him be in peace.

  • Good to hear.

  • E ceva frumos... Sihastrii sunt rari... se crede k ei nu mai exista. Dar ei exista si traiesc in munti. Doam

    ne ajuta

  • This is a diamond of the rarest kind.

The holy vibration in his voice affects one very much; there's so much wisdom in the simplicity of his words. It makes my heart long for a deeper understanding of spiritual life.

  • Thank you for this wonderful video. Glory to God for all things in His Saints.

  • May God richly bless you for the simple yet profoundly moving manner in which you help others to grow closer to Christ! May Our most Blessed Theotokos watch over you and intercede for you always! Thank you so much for all of your efforts! Mike

  • Listening to this holy hermit is like reading from the Philokalia. You sense true compassion and the love of Christ.

It is a wonderful video, thank you. Ignore the negative comments, please. Be encouraged, there are plenty of Americans who value the Cause of Christ and religious freedom.

  • Yes, thank God, there are many good people among you. I've met many American Orthodox brothers.

    In Christ

  • @RestorationistNews

I agree and not just Americans value that Im brazilian I do and so many people who has respect and admiration for other people believes and faith.

This man is a very special human being, with a lot to say and we all should listen with attencion so we can see how far we have being from eachother and God.

doesnt matter what we believe or what religon we follow .

We can feel the love and the true in people like him.

God bless him and us as well.

  • @RestorationistNews

And what does being American have to do with it?

  • @frodebjordal these are views of the outside world that we americans are not aware of.. How strong his testomony is uhh?

  • @ShrockPaul, go back to America and do missionary work over there, we don't need Americans to come over to Romania and try to convince us that our 2000 year old faith is wrong, that our elders are fakes or that we practice idolatry. Your comment is nothing but a proof that you have little knowledge about true Orthodoxy. Do take care of your own soul and let us worry about ours.

  • @galateeasferelor I agree with what you say for I am no where near religious but let people live the way they want and just let it be

  • ShrockPaul, I'm an American also and I know a few monks here in the state's and alot are geniune. Really it is not as easy as you think to give up your currently life for Christ's sake "those who love this life will lose it, but those who lose there life for my sake will find it " (Christ). To be a Christian is to live the life of Christ. These men are examples. Please consider what you are evangalizing.Your heart is in the right place but I can't imagine it's authentic Christianity.

  • How could you possibly "perfectly know" these people if they are hermits?! How many have you met face to face, in the wilderness? The forest ranger could rarely see them but you "perfectly know" them...

No wonder Americans are becoming less and less welcome around the world, offending one of the dearest people in our country, the hermits. Thank God not all Americans are like you!

  • you are lost....i am sorry for you

  • Who do you 'evangelize' a profoundly Christian country? This is pure arrogance, and therefore, lack of love. It would be better for you to go back and repent first.

  • @ShrockPaul I know you're probably referring to the average orthodox priest and your run of the mill monk. I spent time in Romanian monasteries myself and I know not all of them are spiritual. There is also a lot of formalism. When it comes to hermits ioancasian's comment applies.

I applaud you for being a missionary and you probably have a good heart and good intentions but do know that there are many in Orthodoxy who have a true relationship with God and have reached peaks of spirituality.

  • What a Blessing he is to us all. I look into his face and i Truly see Christ in his life.

Indeed he has been Blessed with the Light of Christ. GLORY to God and may he have mercy on us all.

  • it's actually romanian. and he's really really humble!

  • God Love God

  • 03185212345 --You don't understand the concept of spiritual boldness in prayer. A man who is close to God can help people more effectually through prayer than through associating with them.

  • by the way, i dont know if you notticed but that man seems to be carrying a medal, he was probably a soldier, and now he preffer to lead his own life than to kill by orders of people that doesnt gives a fuck about you, man this thing is making me think more and more.

  • what was the word? I didn't hear heart or body, I heard something like "trupulor"

    ??

  • First, you get a warning for your language. Secondly, "curatenia trupului", if you know any Romanian as you claim, means "pure body".

    QED

  • Curatenia trupului = purity of the body / clean body

  • i think is not hard to be an heremit, under bad circumstances, you have trusted in people and they betrayed you, humilliated you, we live under a reality so distorded and pathetic that these people have chosen to get away from the stupid life we lead, working in underpaid jobs, making other people owners of our mother earth by police , or any other way of submission , praying to money, and devoting our lives to it, it is not hard to understand these people.

  • too many people wanna be cool, follow trends, and just fit in...yes u are right

  • Nothing like maplestory

  • God is great. Thank god that we are saved by the sacrifice of his divine son Jesus. Amen Amen and amen.

  • And because of his great love for mankind... he is a Hermit, and lives as far away from people as he possibly can! lol

  • what would you say if you knew you where surrounded by psichopathic people that if they think youre crazy theyll give you "therapeutic"brain damage? for not acting or thinking the same way they do? i preffer to lie , live, and let live, than to be crucified for thinking differently.

  • Чрна Гора?

  • This monk's comments on the Holy Spirit and prayer are great . Very simple and powerfull. Thanks for posting this video. I learned alot.

  • no , 1 milion lei it is 25 euro

  • and 1 milion lei it is 60 $

  • it is the exchange rate for October 2008. Not the present one.

  • I think its God's mercy that such people still exist and live as anchorites.

It is a blessing that in the world that we live that there are those who move closer to God by removing themselves from this world of distractions.

I'm glad that there are those who give provisions and especially that there are Priests who go to administer the Eucharist to them.

God have mercy on us all.

  • For their prayers, and the Saints prayers, God have mercy on us the sinners!

  • God have mercy on us...

  • no servent is greater than his master..dont wanna be cut off completely from GOD because if you die in sin, get thrown in the pit

  • I would humbly comment that that kind of attitude is a good start, brother. I think you are on a good path.

May God have mercy on us and help us all in our strivings towards Him.

  • GOD BLESS BROTHER

  • I wish i was the best i can be as a human being, to be what i was created to be, but sadly we and i have all been corrupted by this cursed world, which is a design to take you away from the truth, may JESUS have mercy on us all, i dont know about you but i am not worthy of the KINGS mercy WHO was crucified for our sins, yet we wont sacrifice anything for the LORD,

  • Amen, amen.

  • Cata bunatate, smerenie, simplitate si bun simt, pacat ca nu invatam sa-i semanam!

  • Thank you for posting this lovely video. Please post more as you are able.

  • Very nice video.Greetings from Macedonia

  • monk speaking at end is a very intrsting monk:) i watching again and again:) pozdrawiam:)

  • Good video, enjoyed viewing it!

  • God does indeed have certain expectations from man, too. 5*

  • Well, yes, you are entitled to your viewpoint, our atheist friend. :) His greatest gift is freedom of choice.

  • Still, even to non-believers, listening to His message as expressed by the hermit is more than worth retaining and valid anytime & any place. May all of us be enriched!

  • That is why I forwarded the video to you, too, DM, even if I knew you are atheist.

The message of "love" towards our fellowman is valid anyway.

    Peace, respect, and friendship.

  • at least 8 of the 10 commandements are essential for me too. :)

But one wise man said once. "Without religion good people are doing good things and evil people are doing evil things, but through religion even good people are able of evil things." Whatever, in the case of good people i have no problem if they are religious... i am olny afraid of the others.

  • I'll just say this... "The Unseen Warfare", by St. Nikodemos the Hagiorite.

  • The wise man was discussing perspective, not absolute values. I have one better than this wise man, "without humility, nothing you do is good."

  • Thank you for posting...Blagoslaven jesi Gospodi

  • Hi Ioan, glad to see you're still uploading great vids - keep 'em coming!

    Your Serbian brother, Milan

  • Thank you brother! We'll try.

    In Christ

  • Slava Domnului ca mai avem sihastri in Romania!
