I remember my cousin used to own me in this game (and every game). When fights broke out I just stopped trying to beat him hahaha! Good times. Anyhow yeah, someone should come out with a remade online version of this game. The concept of buying equipment to enhance your team was genius (I don't know if this was the first game that did it). I'd pay for that kind of game.
I remember playing this game with my family when I was super young. We had no idea what we were doing and everyone was like WTF when a fight broke out.
This game was the FUCKING SHIIIIIIIT. I remember spending all day and night playing with my brother, and it wasent even a 'play to win' it was a 'beat the shit out of each other untill our plateyers blew up' LOL. The good ol days.
Lucky you even made 2 points. My record is 217-1 Upland Highlanders Y.C.M. vs San Francisco Superchargers. 49 points in just one inning. EDIT teams R stronger. How to's: Fight: Keep the turbo off. Give tanks guns. Others natural fight best. Hover FLY above, then drop. Pitch: Go far right or left side of batter, side of plate he's on. CPU batter will move away from plate. Full charge the pitch, curveball to inside. CPU batter always misses! Bat: Get closest to plate, swing down 2 hit ball higher.
@jjjred1987 PART ! I was giving instructions, trying to keep it in these tiny boxes. Maybe I should have used a couple of them to get my point across. As for the teams, in season mode, you can name the teams, where they are from and name the players. I named my teams after the city I lived and my high school mascot. San Francisco Superchargers was the created name of another team. My final score was Upland 217, San Francisco 1. Codes were not used. ... See part 2...
@jjjred1987 PART 2. In regular exhibition, not in season mode the EDIT A and EDIT B teams, which you can name both the team name and the player names are much stronger than the rest of the teams, which just say the city, with robot players with human names, which is kind of ridiculous. Forget what some game sites online say about codes, writing in a special team name to give the team all laser swords or laser guns. It doesn't matter what you name the team. See PART 3
@jjjred1987 PART 3. No matter what you name the EDIT teams in regular exhibition mode, which is also saved on the game's memory battery, EDIT A will have laser swords for all of its players. EDIT B will have laser guns for all of its players. If you don't want to bother with going through a full season, create an EDIT team or two. As far as gaming instructions, if you have a turbo controller, such as the NES Advantage, NES Max, or the Turbo Touch 360 (which is what I use) always keep turbo off.
@jjjred1987 PART 4 In creating a team, you can write in the names of the players and the type of robot they are. If one of your robots is a tank, remember that they are very slow in moving. Their special move is a charging roll, and they say, "HEY!" They are so slow in moving, make sure that the weapon you give them during season mode is either a fire gun, battle gimic (flying fist) laser gun, or laser sword. Never use hand guns or muramasa swords they are too weak to do damage. See PART 5
@jjjred1987 PART 5 The other robots, such as the flybot, m-cycle and cyborg (with legs) have rather decent normal fighting moves, and they are quick. If they don't have a weapon yet in season mode, it is perfectly easy to have them fight using their regular moves. Flybots go higher in the air, and stomp downwards. This is best against tanks. Cyborgs do a drop-kick and m-cycles spin loops in the air and knock the opponent senseless. If the M-Cycle is strong enough, there is a special move. See 6
@jjjred1987 PART 6 Your M-Cycle can charge up it's spin move. While spinning with the A button, go to the bottom of the screen, and go from left to right and back again. Don't waste time on the edge of the screen. He will seem to be upside down as he crosses over, then a flip, then move to the other side. As he does this, the enemy will try to track him, roving back and forth, staying away from the flipping M-Cycle. During this time, holding A button down, press B. He will charge up... PART 7
@jjjred1987 PART 7 After you press B, and he charges up white, wait for his hit point / health bar gets about a 1/4 way down to empty. Then go to the bottom left of your screen and wait, while still flipping! The enemy will approach and collide with the M-Cycle, and instantly be defeated in one hit. This may not seem worth it, but I have done this several times, which not only wins the battle, but most often will COMPLETELY DESTROY the opponent. My best took an enemy from 300 HP down to death.
@jjjred1987 PART 8 When you are pitching, you can confuse the computer opponent, and get a perfect game, without any hits. Look at the batter, and see if he is a right hand hitter ( on the left side of the screen ) or a left handed hitter ( right side of the screen ). Take your pitcher, and move him to the side where the batter is all the way to the edge, as far as the pitcher will go on the mound. The batter will move back away from the plate, so he will be right in front of you. See Part 9
@jjjred1987 PART 9 After the batter moves towards your position on the side, away from the plate, charge up a pitch shot, when the pitcher turns white. His throw will be faster. As you charge, aim the ball inward, towards the plate in a curve ball. Release the pitching button when the pitcher is fully white, and the ball will curve right dead center over the plate, and batter will miss the hit every single time, because he is too far away from the plate. PART 10
@jjjred1987 PART 10 Not only will he swing and miss, the ball will cross right over the plate, so even if he doesn't swing, it will still be a strike. Do this procedure every time you pitch, and you will have a perfect - or near perfect game. Sometimes there is a hit, but it's rare. If you play season mode, don't let M-Cycles be in the outfield positions. They are hard to control, and will not be in position to catch the ball - until they are fully upgraded with ALL HYPER PARTS from the shop.
@jjjred1987 Part 11 When you are batting, move your batter as close to the plate as possible. Hold DOWN on the directional pad as you swing your bat. This causes a kind of "golf effect" with the ball, hitting it higher. You will hit farther into the outfield, and many times will be a home run. If you don't get greedy in running the bases and fighting all the way around the bases to score, you can load up your bases strategically, and hit many grand slams. This keeps the game from ending early.
@jjjred1987 PART 12 If you spend your time strategically getting the ball into the outfield, and winning battles at the plates, only the ones you are really trying to get to, and load the bases, you can hit RBIs back to back like circus clowns getting out of a little car. So even if you don't hit many home runs, you can still score. Too many running home battles in one hitting play will end up weakening your player. You will not score as much as you think you will.
@jjjred1987 Part 13 If you hit a single, stay on first base. If you get tagged there for a battle, win the battle and stay on first. Don't try to run to the next base and fight your way home. This weakens your player, and by the time you get home, his hit point bar will be way too short to win a battle at home plate and score. Plus, the next time you bat with him, he won't have enough hit points at all to even get in very many battles. So win one battle and stay on that plate!
@jjjred1987 Part 14 It's quicker, easier, and better for you to make continuous RBIs than to battle your way home. Sure, winning battles gives honor to your players in season mode, counting all the battles you've won, but you don't win money for it. You don't even gain hit points for it. Hit points are gained by a player hitting home runs. My best ever HP count was for a cyborg at over 7,000 HPs. Most of them were gained in only one game. The more HPs the better he hits balls and fights.
@jjjred1987 Part 15 I don't know who has the world record highest Base Wars top score, all I can give you are my best stats. This is for the created team Upland Highlanders Y.C.M. team.
Highest score, full 9 innings: 217 - 1
Most home runs hit back to back: 12
Most grand slams hit back to back (loading bases, grand slam, no outs in between):4
Most RBIs back to back before an out:: 17
Highest single inning point total 47 ( part of the 217 - 1 game )
@jjjred1987 Part 16 I've completed nearly 30 separate seasons. I've created over 100 different team names, though I have some favorites. All player names are theme-based on the team's name.: Some city names are fictional. San Francisco Superchargers New York Skyscrapers Burning Forrest, Montana (formerly Toronto) Wild Animals California Comets Oklahoma Twisters Hawaii Tropic Lightning Texas Terminators Alaska Glaciers Pirates' Cove, RI.Pillagers Louisiana Hurricanes Miami Mercenaries
@CaptainFoufeu Ack! I pressed enter between those team names. DO NOT THINK that there was a team called the New York Skyscrapers Burning. That's not right! Let me fix this. Divided by / slashes

@jjjred1987 PART 17. Not to bore you jjjred1987, but I figured this guide could be helpful for other viewers of this video as well as clearing up any confusion in regards to your question.
