  • Since you mention the metal scraper is more effective, how about rounding or dulling the corners of it to minimize the chance of cutting into the base?

  • Also, is it possible to OVER SCRAPE the wax off your board??

  • Ive heard some people mention loosen or take off bindings before a hot wax. Is that necessary?

  • I have the same scraper! And thanks, I did precisly the same steps according to your video.. everything just works fine ;)

  • thank you so much for sharing!!!!! very informational video!! =)

  • how long do you let the wax cool?

  • Is it just a myth that you have to iron and scrape in only one continuous motion from head to tail?

  • @ph4tboy These videos indicate that you don't need to iron and scrape all the way from head to tail :)

  • great video man .. just wonderin, is the scraped wax reusable? :)

  • awesome videos

  • how often should ii wax

  • Is that a cheap board? I don't remeber ever noticing the wax build up arround the bindings.

  • They also have plexiglass sharpeners that will make your plastic scraper much faster in removing wax.

  • You should also use a stone to debur the edges first, because it might ruin your plastic scraper when you scrap off the wax near the edges.

  • You don't leave any ON the base. Scrape it all off and it will be IN the base.

  • When scrapping do you scrap all the wax off or leave a very thin layer on the base?

  • The wax you need gets absorbed into the base. Just let it cool and then scrape off everything you can scrape.

  • You can just round off the edges just a little bit on that metal scraper so that the risk of scratching is minimal

  • How long does it take to dry for you can scrape it off?

  • Theres no real set time, depends on your weather conditions and temperatures.

I typically wait about an hour or just leave it overnight.

You just dont want to remove the wax when its still warm because it wont leave wax in your base.

  • i dont have any tools besides wax, waxing iron, and scraper is it absolutely necessary to do all the buffering and steps after that?

  • no buffing needed

  • This guy is great. He goes through EVERY SINGLE POSSIBLE detail, and does an excellent job explaining everything. Leaves VERY little room for confusion. Thanks ufp!!!!!

  • I thought the same as you and sent the guy a message after watching his beginner lessons.

After seeing nothing but cynical discouraging comments from elitist types on so many snowboarding videos, it's nice that there's folks like this making positive videos and encouraging new people to get stuck in.

  • you have to wait an hour before scraping it off right?? or can you do it right after?

  • ive heard 30 minutes minimum. but scraping when its still warm is used for cleaning i believe.. so wait a bit

  • i mean a sponge with like a rough side on it?

  • He says what it is in part one :)

  • hey wats the green scruby thing you use? a sponge?

  • Would love an edge sharpening video!

  • Wrong...the binding screws were loosened to hand tight. The inserts embedded within the base act like heat sinks, cooling the wax faster than the surrounding area and that is why you will see the insert pattern in the wax. Loosening the bindings is not necessary for waxing; it only makes the scraping slightly easier. When you have your board waxed at the shop at the resort, they do not bother with loosening the bindings.

  • ufp1701, I think I came to the reason that he doesnt experience this problem. He has a blacksnow brand board. He waxes it with Vaseline as well.

  • Is it possible to overdo the scraping part? I've scraped til there is 0 wax on the top. It looks about as dry as when I started. Should I do it again?

  • not really possible to overdue it. The wax is in the base not a layer on the bottom. If you don't get it off you will be super slow.

  • pretty good vid except for the metal scraper. never ever ever ever ever use a metal scraper for waxing, even if youre careful youll definitely lose some base. just a plastic one.

  • Umm, no? lol Metal scrapers are just fine if you know what you are doing.

  • well you have to be reeeeally careful, and more often than not you do take some base off. seeing that most boards only have about a millimeter of base material, why not just go with plastic?

  • how often should one realistically wax?

    how bout edge sharpening?

  • realistically like 2 times a season, profesionally done its like 30 bucks...so not really expencive....but you can also get non liquid wax and thats just an eazy way to apply with out scraping and that should be done after the day is over

  • someone suggested an ice scraper

  • o and cr if your an amature then shut the fuck up

  • you guys know nothing metal scrape works really well

  • you should loosen up your bindings before you wax other wise your bindings will make marks in your board and you shouldn't use a metal scraper because it takes off more than just wax trust me

i'm a amature trying to go pro

  • your scraping it wrong but if it works it works

  • Yes, you would know better than an instructor.

    Good job.
