als je het volhoudt om ze een paar keer per dag aan je hand te laten wennen kan je ze op een gegeven moment zo tam krijgen dat ze op je schouder blijven zitten. Heb je nu wel door hoe je mannetjes en vrouwtjes uit elkaar kunt houden? Mannetje => openingen aan de achterkant ver uit elkaar. Vrouwtje => openingen dicht bij elkaar. Check het maar als je weer eens in de dierenwinkel bent. (onderkant, vlakbij de staart)

Ik WOU 3 muisjes kopen , in de dieren winkel zeiden ze : ze zijn van het zelfde geslacht!. Kijk ik de week daarop op dinsdag avond , en wat denk je? 11 baby muisjes! bleek er 1 man en 2 vrouwen te zijn:-S

@SuperMikeDino Ik had er toen idd ook twee gekocht, en beide zouden het mannetjes zijn.... Tot dat dus ook 1 van de mannetjes wel erg dik werd... En toen had ik er ook een stuk meer dan ik wou hebben! Zo zie je maar op de dieren winkel kan je ook nooit vertrouwen.

I bred mice for a breeding project in animal care. Baby mice are so cute. I had started off with one male and two females. One female got VERY pregent but died when in labor. We openned her up at school to see how many babies she was going to have (It would have been 11 babies) The first one was turned side ways so we figure that is how she died. Then I bought two more females and one more male. Sold the male I just bought and one female to a friend (That female bit me.

@Sasskitten Then the two new females ended up having babies with my first male. One female had ten and the other only had three (We didn't even know she was pregent until we seen her give birth the day before the other one. I did my very best to not deturb them as much as I could. But in one week the cage smell so bad that I had to clean it all out. When I did that I got two of the mice to go into the nesting box and When I finally caught the other female I put her ontop of the nesting box.

@Sasskitten However, that female had gotten into the nest box and started killing the babies! Oh I was so upset I quickly got the cge cleaned up and put new beding in the cage and had to actually open up the nest box and get that female out before she killed them all. I seen that four babies were still alive and I put her in another cage and called my mom. Then when my mom got home we carefully took out all the dead babies. We put her back in the cage and she went and killed another baby.

@Sasskitten Up til that point my mom tried to convince me that maybe the babies were already dead and I kept saying "No dead babies don't cry." Well, after that female killed another I held that baby in my hand as it struggled to breathe I was starting to really cry then. (Can't exactly breathe when it has no neck.)After that I kept her away from the other and when the project was over I sould them to my animal care teacher.

That's such a sad story! You haven't had much luck with the little mice... I've had two nests. I thought that i had 2 male mice, but when one was pregnant i knew that wasn't true. And soon after the first mice were born, she was pregnant again. So in total i had 19 mice and all were healty. I saw the first ones grow real big but because i also have two cats i had to get rid of all the mice, so now i only have my two cats left.

@LauraHondema Well, if it helps, when I soold them to my animal care teacher the very next school year I went and saw my mice and I found that Spottie had gone on to have a whole pile of litters. Spottie was white with black spots so I knew those were his kids because they also had white with black spots. My mom wanted to keep Spoty but she has this thing about mice. To bad I only remembered after I sold them that mice don't liver that long. Then I would have got to keep spoty.
