I met paul a few years ago in the Redan in Bayswater, he was very tolerant of me despite the fact he was with his wife/girlfriend/female friend, i sang this song to him explaining that it is my favourite song, he stayed for a beer and made a point of waving goodbye as he left... proper true english gent!!
