  • Personally I'd consider Charles Ives, Aaron Copeland, Bernard Herrmann, Elliot Carter, and Duke Ellington to be the definitive 20th Century American composers. But Roy Harris is very close behind. He's criminally overlooked by today's audiences.

  • This is superb music. I've just seen that he passed away in 79. That must be why he was all over radio 3 in 80! I'd like to hear Pat Metheny solo over this.

  • Wonderful! I have this disc. I would love to hear these artists perform the 7th symphony of Roy Harris because all the available (modern) recordings of this work are weak and ineffectual.
