Does anybody else feel like Snake doesnt have enough dialogue in mgs 4? I know its probably the design of his character due to the accelerated ageing but still, i feel like he never talks. In mgs 1 and 2 i used to love listening to him talk. Even with the Big boss ending, the very final solid snake scene, and he has about 2 lines.

Solid Snake pulled off acrobatic stunts to grab guns and dodge bullets. Big Boss or NAKED SNAKE, did the impossible of CQC and took on the unmanned weapon Cocoon and the Peace Walker, and fuckin' used his own strength to stop them from crushing him. Literally, watch walkthroughs, or BETTER YET, PLAY the games to see what I mean.
I saw where gamespot critiqued David Hayters' voice in MGS3....saying it wasn't on par with the others......WTF....David Hayter couldn't screw up anything....

In 4, he took on that mission of his own free will, because he felt obligated (to HIMSELF) to stop Liquid Ocelot (who wanted, at the very LEAST, world chaos and constant warfare.) Otacon, Jack, & Naomi, all improved their lives after meeting him.
Big Boss, however, wanted to turn the world into one big battlefield. He is no better than Zero.
The fact that you're controlling Snake doesn't change the fact that Snake beat Big Boss IN THE CANON.

@Mindaugas7100 Snake said he was still green around the time of the Outer Heaven incident. He mentions this to Naomi after a torture session in MGS1, when he talks about how he knew Gray Fox. While Big Boss may have had a more "normal" childhood, he still had a shit loads more combat experience than Snake during the OH and ZL uprisings.
I'm glad we got all of this settled. One more thing; why do some people still insist on calling Snake a pawn?

okay to answer ur question, personally idk but for me it seem that naked snake realised sooner than solid that he was a pawn, maybe not true but that's my opinion. One more thing when solid snake realise he was a pawn, he couldn't do much since he didn't lead an army+didn't have tons of money
@JohnKiller118 while naked snake had huge , after portable ops events and like sometime before peace walker and forward, he had his own army and immense wealth(25billions) because ocelot+eva choose to be on his side and ocelot give him that money, while zero had other half. This also explains how ocelot later on(mgs4 well he was mind of liquid but we both know that it was ocelot still) could maintain that immense army(in mgs4 said enaugh most likely to overpower usa army

Snake knew he was a pawn, which is why he tried to live a normal life after MG2. When he was dragged into the battlefield again in MGS1, he was like "aw, fuck it", and formed Philanthropy with Otacon.

Big Boss is the "Original". The so-called "father". Then Big Boss was cloned. Solid Snake is one clone. When Solid Snake was created, they made it so that he ages much faster than a normal human being.
MGS1- Stars Solid Snake, the clone.
MGS2- Stars Solid Snake, and Raiden- a completely different character.
MGS3- Big Boss when he was young; way before being cloned.

No, Big Boss only has 3 clones: Solid Snake, the blonde-haired Liquid Snake who was the badguy in MGS1, and Solidus Snake who was the badguy of MGS2. They're brothers.
The Fear, The End, The Sorrow, The Fury, and The Pain are NOT clones or related to Big Boss. They are members of the "Cobra Unit" which was led by Big Boss's female mentor: "THE Boss"

@18franklyn Solidus wasn't in the womb at the same time as Solid and Liquid. Solidus is the youngest clone, but he was made to age faster than the others. In fact, EVA most likely had nothing to do with his birth; she isn't his mother. We're not even certain if Solidus was created in the same manner as the original twins were, either. Kojima has yet to comment about the way in which Big Boss's "perfect" clone was made.
@yuyuzja Liquid and Solid are actually exact copies of one another on the outside. If you look at the mission briefing for the very original MGS1 you will see a shot of snake close up and he looks just like Liquid. Then he "trims" before the mission to look the way he does.

But initially, there was confusion in the fandom as to whether Solid Snake was originally blonde, or Liquid Snake was originally brunette. The story there kept changing. But now we know for certain that the clones were of course both brunette like the man they were cloned from.
The only difference between the two is that Liquid has "sun-dyed" blonde hair and darker skin, from all his time spent in the Middle East pre-MGS1.

@Georgis1995 Naked Snake is the star of MGS3, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, and Peace Walker. Both of the latter games are for PSP. Naked Snake is eventually killed by Solid Snake in the really old 2D Metal Gear games for the MSX/NES. MGS1, for the PS1, takes place after that.

@Georgis1995 He just became more and more angry due to constantly being used and abused by his government. USA ordering Boss to die just to cover their ass, and using N.Snake to do so, was the first straw. From then on he just slowly became more and more distant from his original ideals. He started his own nation of soldiers with no country to claim them, and didn't really plan on making USA his enemy, but it just turned out that way. Other stuff happened too but I don't want to ruin it for you.

The only games you play as Big Boss in are MGS3, MPO, and the upcoming Peace Walker. All games that are futuristic are starring Solid Snake. All the games that seem to be more in the past are Big Boss, telling his story of how he would become the "madman" that Solid Snake would one day be sent to kill.

And no one knows when Rising will take place when it comes out- Likely a bit before MGS4.

As I said, no one knows- But I doubt it will be after MGS4. It'd defeat the entire purpose of the ending, Also, Raiden's exoskeleton doesn't look as advanced as it does in MGS4 judging by the trailer- Like it was intentionally made to look unfinished. My guess is that we will be playing as Raiden- Rescuing Sunny from Area 51 and working with Big Mama to steal "Big Boss;s" corpse from the Patriots.
all true, one thing i must say is that if it WAS after MGS4, this raiden could be different, maybe his son trying to live up to his dad?(the one we see at the end of MGS4) anyway i'd like to see Sunny's past and stuff so this could be interesting.
The NES game is a terrible remake of the first Metal Gear game made for the MSX. The first Metal Gear game (not metal gear SOLID) was 2D and came out in 1987 for the MSX2. You can play MG1, along with MG2, in the "persistence" disc that comes with MGS3 subsistence for the PS2.
The first MG took place in 1995. Solid Snake was only a rookie then, sent to save Gray Fox and other soldiers who had been taken prisoner by terrorists supposedly, and defeat Big Boss. Then came MG2: Solid Snake.
@Emblemz You forgot Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. I started with MGS on PSP 1-2 months ago, then MGS2, then MGS3 and i just finished MGS4. I think MGS2 is the worst from the series even though it did made very good changes to the gameplay, etc. MGS, MGS3 and MGS4 are all masterpieces in their own way. I think i'll go with MGS:PO next :)

I really miss playing as Naked Snake it was such good times. I really miss the old days they were the best. Its also a shame that Solid Snake is old and going to die. I have only played demos of the past ones MGS3 and MGS1 I think the one when your on the cargo ship then the one when you go up that elevator up to the snowy place with the helicopter taking off. Sorry if I confused you. But I got MGS4 yesturday and I love it but most of all I miss Naked Snake, I had fun times with you Naked Snake.
@runemaniac312 actually jack and david (solid snake) have slight facial differences like the beard and the face big boss had more of a beard and had a patch on his right eye aswell as having a slight wrinkled...cheek while solid snake's beard was lighter and he never had a patch besides the solid eye patch and solid snake was actually the strong one (toned body).
Aloverssoulz, I desagree with you, because Solid Snake just did what he did, because he had Patriots AI's help. He was supposed to become a legend, and with that help Zero's plan was sucesseful.

In 4, he took on that mission of his own free will, because he felt obligated (to HIMSELF) to stop Liquid Ocelot (who wanted, at the very LEAST, world chaos and constant warfare.) Otacon, Jack, & Naomi, all improved their lives after meeting him.
Big Boss, however, wanted to turn the world into one big battlefield. He is no better than Zero.
The fact that you're controlling Snake doesn't change the fact that Snake beat Big Boss IN THE CANON.

The fact that Big Boss has three times the battle experience just makes it even more sad when IN THE ACTUAL STORY (ie not one of your stupid match up fights, like "HURR SNAKE VS BATMAN"), Solid Snake (a rookie with shittier genes) kills the "greatest mercenary of the 20th century."
As for Snake being a tool; Big Boss was one too. But, just like Snake, he grew out of it.

Snake and Big Boss were actually very similar at some point in their lives; they were both political tools that later broke away from their chains and fought for their beliefs. @Mindaugas7100 Snake said he was still green around the time of the Outer Heaven incident. He mentions this to Naomi after a torture session in MGS1, when he talks about how he knew Gray Fox. While Big Boss may have had a more "normal" childhood, he still had a shit loads more combat experience than Snake during the OH and ZL uprisings.
I'm glad we got all of this settled. One more thing; why do some people still insist on calling Snake a pawn?

@Mindaugas7100 In PW, Big Boss didn't have much money either. MSF was a leaky shack in Colombia and a few men until Paz and Zadornof (and, unknowingly to Big Boss, Cipher) hooked them up. For some reason, Gene's money is never mentioned. I guess he lost it in the laundry. lol
Snake knew he was a pawn, which is why he tried to live a normal life after MG2. When he was dragged into the battlefield again in MGS1, he was like "aw, fuck it", and formed Philanthropy with Otacon.

He WAS one, but to still hold that against him after MGS1 (when he now fights for his beliefs) is stupid. In the end, Big Boss became a corrupt warmonger, and Snake, Otacon, Naomi, and Sunny, all helped destroy the Patriots, and prevented Liquid Ocelot's bid for world domination/anarchy.

Big Boss is the "Original". The so-called "father". Then Big Boss was cloned. Solid Snake is one clone. When Solid Snake was created, they made it so that he ages much faster than a normal human being.
MGS1- Stars Solid Snake, the clone.
MGS2- Stars Solid Snake, and Raiden- a completely different character.
MGS3- Big Boss when he was young; way before being cloned.
MPO- BB, after MGS3
MGS:PW- BB after MPO
MGS4- 43yr old Solid Snake in the future.

No, Big Boss only has 3 clones: Solid Snake, the blonde-haired Liquid Snake who was the badguy in MGS1, and Solidus Snake who was the badguy of MGS2. They're brothers.
The Fear, The End, The Sorrow, The Fury, and The Pain are NOT clones or related to Big Boss. They are members of the "Cobra Unit" which was led by Big Boss's female mentor: "THE Boss"

@18franklyn Solidus wasn't in the womb at the same time as Solid and Liquid. Solidus is the youngest clone, but he was made to age faster than the others. In fact, EVA most likely had nothing to do with his birth; she isn't his mother. We're not even certain if Solidus was created in the same manner as the original twins were, either. Kojima has yet to comment about the way in which Big Boss's "perfect" clone was made.

@yuyuzja Liquid and Solid are actually exact copies of one another on the outside. If you look at the mission briefing for the very original MGS1 you will see a shot of snake close up and he looks just like Liquid. Then he "trims" before the mission to look the way he does.

But initially, there was confusion in the fandom as to whether Solid Snake was originally blonde, or Liquid Snake was originally brunette. The story there kept changing. But now we know for certain that the clones were of course both brunette like the man they were cloned from.
The only difference between the two is that Liquid has "sun-dyed" blonde hair and darker skin, from all his time spent in the Middle East pre-MGS1.

@Georgis1995 Naked Snake is the star of MGS3, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, and Peace Walker. Both of the latter games are for PSP. Naked Snake is eventually killed by Solid Snake in the really old 2D Metal Gear games for the MSX/NES. MGS1, for the PS1, takes place after that.

@Georgis1995 He just became more and more angry due to constantly being used and abused by his government. USA ordering Boss to die just to cover their ass, and using N.Snake to do so, was the first straw. From then on he just slowly became more and more distant from his original ideals. He started his own nation of soldiers with no country to claim them, and didn't really plan on making USA his enemy, but it just turned out that way. Other stuff happened too but I don't want to ruin it for you.

First Solid Snake, then Raiden.
The only games you play as Big Boss in are MGS3, MPO, and the upcoming Peace Walker. All games that are futuristic are starring Solid Snake. All the games that seem to be more in the past are Big Boss, telling his story of how he would become the "madman" that Solid Snake would one day be sent to kill.
MGS1 = 2005
MGS2=2007/2009
MGS3=1964
MPO=1970
MGS4=2014
PW=1974
And no one knows when Rising will take place when it comes out- Likely a bit before MGS4.

As I said, no one knows- But I doubt it will be after MGS4. It'd defeat the entire purpose of the ending, Also, Raiden's exoskeleton doesn't look as advanced as it does in MGS4 judging by the trailer- Like it was intentionally made to look unfinished. My guess is that we will be playing as Raiden- Rescuing Sunny from Area 51 and working with Big Mama to steal "Big Boss;s" corpse from the Patriots.
But as I said- This is all speculation.

The NES game is a terrible remake of the first Metal Gear game made for the MSX. The first Metal Gear game (not metal gear SOLID) was 2D and came out in 1987 for the MSX2. You can play MG1, along with MG2, in the "persistence" disc that comes with MGS3 subsistence for the PS2.
The first MG took place in 1995. Solid Snake was only a rookie then, sent to save Gray Fox and other soldiers who had been taken prisoner by terrorists supposedly, and defeat Big Boss. Then came MG2: Solid Snake.

@Emblemz You forgot Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. I started with MGS on PSP 1-2 months ago, then MGS2, then MGS3 and i just finished MGS4. I think MGS2 is the worst from the series even though it did made very good changes to the gameplay, etc. MGS, MGS3 and MGS4 are all masterpieces in their own way. I think i'll go with MGS:PO next :)

I really miss playing as Naked Snake it was such good times. I really miss the old days they were the best. Its also a shame that Solid Snake is old and going to die. I have only played demos of the past ones MGS3 and MGS1 I think the one when your on the cargo ship then the one when you go up that elevator up to the snowy place with the helicopter taking off. Sorry if I confused you. But I got MGS4 yesturday and I love it but most of all I miss Naked Snake, I had fun times with you Naked Snake.

I think a young Solid Snake would've had it harder against The Boss than Big Boss had. Big Boss is the superior one among those two, atleast in CQC.
