Ah, Mario! I saw him give a recital way back in the 50's not long before he died. Such a warm, thrilling voice and he had great charm on the stage, apologising for his appearance with a walking stick & explaining its need being due to his suffering from phlebitis at that time. A happy memory of Mario - tragic that he should have died so young!. Anyone else out there who remembers that recital in Manchester, England so long ago?.
