For everyone complaining about V6 vs V8. You must've forgotten that the Nissan GTR is a V6 and is compared to V10 and V12's. Stop whining. it's possible to make a V6 faster.
Wow I never like hyundai but when I saw the Gen I was like wow. I drive mx6 now,but this car. I'm looking into the 2.0t version alot more room to play with for better upgrading I'm pretty sure the 3.8 has high compression. The 2.0t with lil bit of mods can do put out as much as the 3.8.

I can understand still buying a Lexus, BMW, Audi or MB over a Hyundai when it comes to luxury cars but if people are in the market for a well price well equipped compact car, SUV or even sporty coupe well the Hyundai lineup has something. I personally love the GC.

I never really liked a Hyundai until now, and when I first saw the Genesis i thought itd just be another Hyundai... but it's proved me wrong, and I've ended up pretty much falling in love with the styling and all of the car. And for those who says "how much money did Hyundai paid for this video" let me tell you something: Rhys Millen wouldnt jeopardize his reputation talking so good about something that is not, when any other good driver can take the same car and do the same and say something about the car. GC is very good to be the first time for Hyundai in that segment. Reviews are there, dont try to cover the sun with a hand.
It looks good and everything else seems good. but what we still cant see is how it will be in 2 years time. my main issue with hyundai/kia is that they have reliability issues.

The 350Z was a nightmare plagued with problems for 4 years, until Nissan finally got off their asses and fixed the problem.
Meanwhlile, the last recall Hyundai had was for 48,000 vehicles for some minor thing back in February. Everyone else has been recalling by the bucketloads.
There's a reason Hyundai was #4 behind Lexus, Porsche and Cadillac on JD's quality list. Nissan couldn't touch them. Hyundai's kick ass today, and only a hater says otherwise.
maybe unfortunately for me in Singapore, the Hyundai here really have quality issues. I dont hate hyundai. I dont hate brands...ok, maybe stuffs from china...but i certainly dont hate hyundai/kia. You give me a Getz or a Cerato Forte, i'll take it. But i never had an experience with a hyundai/kia that i had nothing to complain about. Its either the cheap interior, or the engine making weird noises, suspension creaking like a 20 yr old bed...stuffs like that.
@Hellvin They actually have way more reliability than Toyota. Even in an entry level model like the Accent. I bought the new Accent in mid 2006, it is more than 4 years old and still smell and feels like new, and I have used it for very long trips and some bad roads, it doesnt have anything falling apart by itself. I have seen Nissans and Toyotas with less time than mine with flimsy parts or non working switches. We also have a new Elantra, as sweet as the day one, plus 2000 Honda CR-V. YNWIM!

Even my dad's sunny, after 6 years of driving and not much maintenance to speak of, doesnt give any issues. my friend's corolla and another guy's altis also doesnt give any issues after 6yrs. but the kia/hyundais i know have problems as early as 8months? maybe its just those around me? i bring degeneration to kimchi? well i own a 3.8 2010 in the lime rock green , it is all it is advertised to be , handles really well , loads of power, easy to drift, solid, and the exhaust note is awesome, people have almost wrecked their cars trying to look at it , and i haven't found anything save a vette that would walk away from it , i think i made a ford lightening driver cry yesterday on the way home from work, you haters can talk all you want but don't be surprised when one of these whips your butt

There are 2 Z06's in my town, both driven by women. That doesn't mean I have less respect for the car, but more respect for the people driving it. v6 380gt gets 17/28, at the lowest and high end of the spectrum but in real world applications according to real world drivers and without slamming on the throttle you can get upwards of 30-31 mpg.

First i averaged the MPG and since the v6 gen coupe gets on average 25 mpg with mixed driving, while the mustang gets 19 average...i say you do your research, and then go back to playing with yourself. The 3.8 out performs the V6 Mustang GT. But let's go with your argument and ignore all the reviewers who say the mustang interior is about as homely as Chelsea Clinton...you can go on and on with your over-sized engine and your 300hp and 300 torque, completely unbalanced mustang, but I'll be in a 3.8 Track running 300 hp, but still getting 28 mpg, and turning heads while nobody even blinks an eye when mustangs drive by.
What package did the stang you drove have on it? If it's that good I need to tell my friend about it. He has an S2000 now, and is looking for a good handling coupe to go with it. Umm. Yeah.. .5 is a little slower to most people. The stereo in the gc was good, but I agree the shaker in the Stang is better sounding. But it also does not have USB input, Bluetooth, with voice dial for the phone. Sounds like your taste in cars is just different than mine. so lets just agree to disagree. To me there is just no way a car that has a 50/50 weight ratio could drive worse than a front heavy car like the stang. I am not bashing the stang. I like it too. But not as a handling car.
Well it sounds like we drove different cars. I admit I have only driven as stock Stang GT. But in the GC we drove there was NO body roll.. 0-60 is 5.5 so it is a little slower than the stang. Thought the interior was OK.. not as nice as the Gen Sedan. But the stereo rocked. One thing.. Did you turn the traction control off. If not that is why it handled and accelerated badly.. I do think this is a flaw inthe car. The "nany" is WAY too conservative. It REALLY REALLY disrupted the handling too.
Again, Depends on what you call "handling" I have driven a Stang.. It drives like a PIG... especially in the tight twisties. We pushed that GC around a sequential set of very tight S curves. and it took it in a very composed and easy to handle way. "Good handling" is not always just the max G numbers on a skid pad.. for me at least it is the behind the wheel "FEEL" and how easy it is to push it to the max, and then what it does when you push it beyond that. Its always just an opinion anyway
Does an S2000 count? Or a track ready Miata? Or a 250WHP Turbo Miata? The Gen Coupe with the track pack handles extremely well for a BIG, HEAVY, STOCK ROAD LEGAL CAR!!! A purpose built track car will always do better on the track.. but try driving it every day.. or going over a speed bump or a pothole. Your trying to compare apples to oranges.
I'm actually really impressed with the Genesis 2.0 R Spec myself.... $23,700 with all the goodies from the track pack (six speed manual / limited slip).... Plus, the 2.0 turbo motor has a lot of potential for tuning. Sure it is slower than some of the other competitors, but it also costs considerably less. What kind of 370Z can you get for $22k? Nothing -- that's what.
Try 32K loaded. with the track pack on it.. I love the Subies too.. But I drove this cal last week.. it handles very well.. suprisingly well.. even in the really tight curves... BUT you have to turn the nanny off.. or it will screw it up.

come on man my car has more horses stock, and i put about 12,000 into it and now from a start i can do doughnuts untill i pop my tires, and it has so much torque that when i do a clutch slip i sit in the same spot and spin my tires for a minimum of 30 seconds, oh and thats only the 2 wheel drive option i can put it to all wheel

Oh wow! the new G37 of Hyundai! . Have you noticed that Hyundai's has been copying on Infinity as well as other brands. Kias's doing it to as well. Take the new the new Kia Forte 2010 for instance, it's just like the civic. They do not create that's the bottom line.

The only resemblance I see between the two is in the ass end tail lights. That's it. The front doesn't resemble a G37 any more than any other car does. Hyundai dealt with Pininfarina for the design of the Tiburon, which was ranked #6 on the world's top 10 sexiest cars a few years back. Infiniti just looks like Nissan, and Nissan looks like Infiniti. They're the same company, but they copy each other's style more than anyone else.

They are doing what is right for them in the marketing business. If you like the Honda design but want a more luxurious car, you pick Acura. Same thing goes for the other cars. The looks are suppose to look similar, the sister companies were made to be more expensive since they provide more performance, luxury, and technology. On the other hand, Toyota had to start a 3rd sister company (Scion) to make the cars look radical and completely different.

Well Hyundai really turned it around. 10 years ago I'd laugh at the company. Now, they actually make really decent cars. I respect the Genesis the most though. Sure, the coupe still isn't as good as the G37 but why should it at 2/3 the price? Same goes with the sedan. You get 80% of the quality in Lexus ES for 2/3 the price. Lets just hope their new cars are going to be reliable and they might be respected by everyone in the future.
Works well with aftermarket. I got mainly custom cuz there a few aftermarket parts now but engine is very easy to tune and takes little to get big hp. Got my hp up from 284 stock dyno test to 341hp on dyno with just full exhaust, filters, intakes, some ECU tuning and a few more things... Wanna bore and turbo soon

From what I know, it's not just the technology difference that contributes to the quality and reliability of cars from a certain company. Governmental policies, regulations, agreements also factor into what kind of vehicle a manufacturer makes.
With no back seat or trunk space, why would you be surprised at that? The G-Coupe is for the guy who wants great power, fantastic style, awesome value and day-to-day practicality. I have nothing against the 370Z, but it's just a performance vehicle, nothing more.

It looks good and everything else seems good. but what we still cant see is how it will be in 2 years time. my main issue with hyundai/kia is that they have reliability issues.

The 350Z was a nightmare plagued with problems for 4 years, until Nissan finally got off their asses and fixed the problem.
Meanwhlile, the last recall Hyundai had was for 48,000 vehicles for some minor thing back in February. Everyone else has been recalling by the bucketloads.
There's a reason Hyundai was #4 behind Lexus, Porsche and Cadillac on JD's quality list. Nissan couldn't touch them. Hyundai's kick ass today, and only a hater says otherwise.

maybe unfortunately for me in Singapore, the Hyundai here really have quality issues. I dont hate hyundai. I dont hate brands...ok, maybe stuffs from china...but i certainly dont hate hyundai/kia. You give me a Getz or a Cerato Forte, i'll take it. But i never had an experience with a hyundai/kia that i had nothing to complain about. Its either the cheap interior, or the engine making weird noises, suspension creaking like a 20 yr old bed...stuffs like that.

@Hellvin They actually have way more reliability than Toyota. Even in an entry level model like the Accent. I bought the new Accent in mid 2006, it is more than 4 years old and still smell and feels like new, and I have used it for very long trips and some bad roads, it doesnt have anything falling apart by itself. I have seen Nissans and Toyotas with less time than mine with flimsy parts or non working switches. We also have a new Elantra, as sweet as the day one, plus 2000 Honda CR-V. YNWIM!

Even my dad's sunny, after 6 years of driving and not much maintenance to speak of, doesnt give any issues. my friend's corolla and another guy's altis also doesnt give any issues after 6yrs. but the kia/hyundais i know have problems as early as 8months? maybe its just those around me? i bring degeneration to kimchi? LOL

There are 2 Z06's in my town, both driven by women. That doesn't mean I have less respect for the car, but more respect for the people driving it. Those women driving mustangs at least have good taste, instead of cruising in a fucking prius. 90% of the women I see in mustang have V6s anyway. I like the 5% of mutsangs that are modded GTs and look awesome. Thats what mustangs are about.

I would be willing to bet that you don't own either. However, it is welll documented that the quality and performance of domestics and german vehicles have been surpassed by the Asians. PArt of the reason the Mustang can never compete is where it is made by spoiled UAW who dont give a crap. It is just by the grace of god that FORD is not bankrupt as anyone knows. v6 380gt gets 17/28, at the lowest and high end of the spectrum but in real world applications according to real world drivers and without slamming on the throttle you can get upwards of 30-31 mpg.

you obviously didn't see the interview with Rhys Millen who went over the components of the motor and said that everything was STOCK with the exception of running without cats, upgraded exhaust which total is about 15-20 hp max and even less torque gains, but what they DID do was reflash the ECU for performance as opposed to fuel economy and were about to get those times. Figures you're still a 35 year old virgin...do you not find your feelings hurt that no one here agrees with you?

it's 275 as officially recorded by about 7 different independent shops. First i averaged the MPG and since the v6 gen coupe gets on average 25 mpg with mixed driving, while the mustang gets 19 average...i say you do your research, and then go back to playing with yourself. lets look at UNBIASED reviews in comparison to the mustang...acceleration mustang got a 6 out of 10, but wait, the 3.8 V6 gen got a 7...for handling, mustang got a 5, gen coupe got an 8. Only con that's common among all reviews is that the track model has a bumpy ride attributed to the stiffer suspension and low profile tires. DO your homework. and instead of spending your days bashing ont he genesis how about you go out and tried to get laid? Isn't it embarrassing being 35 and still a virgin?

I'm a subaru guy and everyone knows that the subaru sti outperforms the mustang, but that's neither here nor there. I'll take the 380gt with 300hp and be happy with the 25mpg while your v6 pony averages 19. BTW I'm 29 but unlike a loser 35 year old I don't spend my life bashing other cars.

The 3.8 out performs the V6 Mustang GT. But let's go with your argument and ignore all the reviewers who say the mustang interior is about as homely as Chelsea Clinton...you can go on and on with your over-sized engine and your 300hp and 300 torque, completely unbalanced mustang, but I'll be in a 3.8 Track running 300 hp, but still getting 28 mpg, and turning heads while nobody even blinks an eye when mustangs drive by.

Umm. Yeah.. .5 is a little slower to most people. The stereo in the gc was good, but I agree the shaker in the Stang is better sounding. But it also does not have USB input, Bluetooth, with voice dial for the phone. Sounds like your taste in cars is just different than mine. so lets just agree to disagree. To me there is just no way a car that has a 50/50 weight ratio could drive worse than a front heavy car like the stang. I am not bashing the stang. I like it too. But not as a handling car.

Well it sounds like we drove different cars. I admit I have only driven as stock Stang GT. But in the GC we drove there was NO body roll.. 0-60 is 5.5 so it is a little slower than the stang. Thought the interior was OK.. not as nice as the Gen Sedan. But the stereo rocked. One thing.. Did you turn the traction control off. If not that is why it handled and accelerated badly.. I do think this is a flaw inthe car. The "nany" is WAY too conservative. It REALLY REALLY disrupted the handling too.

Again, Depends on what you call "handling" I have driven a Stang.. It drives like a PIG... especially in the tight twisties. We pushed that GC around a sequential set of very tight S curves. and it took it in a very composed and easy to handle way. "Good handling" is not always just the max G numbers on a skid pad.. for me at least it is the behind the wheel "FEEL" and how easy it is to push it to the max, and then what it does when you push it beyond that. Its always just an opinion anyway

Does an S2000 count? Or a track ready Miata? Or a 250WHP Turbo Miata? The Gen Coupe with the track pack handles extremely well for a BIG, HEAVY, STOCK ROAD LEGAL CAR!!! A purpose built track car will always do better on the track.. but try driving it every day.. or going over a speed bump or a pothole. Your trying to compare apples to oranges.

These are fun RWD coupes....
I'm actually really impressed with the Genesis 2.0 R Spec myself.... $23,700 with all the goodies from the track pack (six speed manual / limited slip).... Plus, the 2.0 turbo motor has a lot of potential for tuning. Sure it is slower than some of the other competitors, but it also costs considerably less. What kind of 370Z can you get for $22k? Nothing -- that's what.

not just the soul. look how much boxy cars came out after the xb did. the soul only came out now. they not the first. other companys copied right away. you hate korean cars i guess since you didnt mention any of the other brands that copied first way before kia. plus its just a design like the xb. it worked well with young people so they trying to make something that appeals to younger people for really cheap. dont hate

The only resemblance I see between the two is in the ass end tail lights. That's it. The front doesn't resemble a G37 any more than any other car does. Hyundai dealt with Pininfarina for the design of the Tiburon, which was ranked #6 on the world's top 10 sexiest cars a few years back. Infiniti just looks like Nissan, and Nissan looks like Infiniti. They're the same company, but they copy each other's style more than anyone else.

They are doing what is right for them in the marketing business. If you like the Honda design but want a more luxurious car, you pick Acura. Same thing goes for the other cars. The looks are suppose to look similar, the sister companies were made to be more expensive since they provide more performance, luxury, and technology. On the other hand, Toyota had to start a 3rd sister company (Scion) to make the cars look radical and completely different.

If so, why aren't making their car's similar now??? I do agree about the marketing part. But maybe they were just lazy.. This is a personal opinion, I just don't like unoriginality. That's one thing I do like about hyundai.. they do copy other companies a little.. but still makes damn good cars.

Well Hyundai really turned it around. 10 years ago I'd laugh at the company. Now, they actually make really decent cars. I respect the Genesis the most though. Sure, the coupe still isn't as good as the G37 but why should it at 2/3 the price? Same goes with the sedan. You get 80% of the quality in Lexus ES for 2/3 the price. Lets just hope their new cars are going to be reliable and they might be respected by everyone in the future.

Works well with aftermarket. I got mainly custom cuz there a few aftermarket parts now but engine is very easy to tune and takes little to get big hp. Got my hp up from 284 stock dyno test to 341hp on dyno with just full exhaust, filters, intakes, some ECU tuning and a few more things... Wanna bore and turbo soon

Well Rhys is driving a Genesis this year in Formula D, so you can pretty much take what he says with a grain of salt.
I'm interested in seeing how this new platform responds to aftermarket tuning.
Say what you want about Hyundai this is 10 times better than the crap they used to build.

But I agree with ya. Things change constantly and at the pace hyundai is advancing, I don't think it's impossible to compete with other leading brands in a decade or so.
From what I know, it's not just the technology difference that contributes to the quality and reliability of cars from a certain company. Governmental policies, regulations, agreements also factor into what kind of vehicle a manufacturer makes.

This is a great car. also there is a large aftermarket following, helps that it has the same engine from a evo10. This car can make big hp gains.

actually, the engine is different. it's not the same.
the basic design is the same, but the evo's engine has cylinder bracing while the genesis 2.0's engine doesn't
the heads aren't interchangeable either
the connecting rods probably are not the same, nor are the pistons or the crank

With no back seat or trunk space, why would you be surprised at that? The G-Coupe is for the guy who wants great power, fantastic style, awesome value and day-to-day practicality. I have nothing against the 370Z, but it's just a performance vehicle, nothing more.
