Family members of mine have worked in that factory since it has open and I planned on working there after i graduated but it closed 7 years before i graduated! My family grew up around that factory and the nestles company is very missed! Rest In Peace Fulton Nestles! From a Fulton resident and going to be life long resident!
What I find sad is that I can no longer smell the chocolate when it rains. Ever since I was a little girl I would stand outside before a thunder storm would roll over the city and the air would be thick with the sweet smell of Nestle Chocolate. I used to think Santa made our stocking candy in there. lol. This factory was the country's first chocolate factory and it was the city's greatest attribute, or one of them. But now its only a fond memory of my youth. *sighs* Thanks for posting this.
@Millifera1 omg the smell of the chocolate was one of the great things about Fulton. I remember playing a joke on a friend who had never been to Fulton before, and I cracked the window...I said"Do you smell that?" and they were like yea...."my farts smell like brownies"
not anymore...its been closed for years. but i remember when i was little always watching the smoke and steam from my grandmothers house and smelling the chocolate
Those Ivory Coast people did the same thing to a Chinese chocolate plant in China back in the 1990's. There is something really fishy going on especially when you have the World Bank investigating, State Department, European Union and their own government looking into the allegations. If money was put into the bank accounts then some level of production would have taken place. $40 plus million dollars and only 7 people work there with nothing produced? hmmmmm......
So sad that this place closed, and then bought and never used. Nestle's first Chocolate plant in the USA.
